Hey, y’all!
I’m sorry for the late update today. It’s tax-free weekend here in Texas and you know what that means! It’s time to put aside any existential concerns and totally embrace being materialistic! I’ve been down at the mall, fighting the battle of the consumer. However, now that I’m back, it’s time to update on what we all really care about — the Battle of Big Brother!
Even if you haven’t been reading the comments under yesterday’s post, you can probably guess what’s happening right now in the house.
Andy is Head of Household.
As HoH, Andy has nominated Jessie and Spencer for eviction. How many times has Spencer been nominated without getting on vote for eviction? It’s amazing that the people in this house considered Howard to be a threat but apparently, they like Spencer so much that Spencer doesn’t have any concern about the fact that he keeps getting nominated week after week.
Originally, there looked like there might have been some conflict in store because Amanda wants Jessie out and Helen wants Spencer out. However, Andy has made clear that Jessie is his target and Helen seems to be okay with the idea of evicting her this week.
Now, we’re waiting for the results of the veto competition because, if Jessie doesn’t win this week, it looks like she’s done for in the house. The players are: Andy, Spencer, Jessie, Amanda, Helen, and Elissa.
Elissa has hinted that she’s open to the idea of taking Jessie off the block if she wins the veto. Then again, everyone in this house is always open to making a big move until the time to make the move actually comes.
Also, will Amanda be able to get through this competition without going crazy?
The plan appears to be that, if Jessie or Spencer wins the veto, than Andy will put Gina Marie up as a replacement. However, Andy has apparently also said that he’s scared to put up GM. Incredibly, he told Helen earlier that he would be willing to nominate Amanda as a replacement pawn, just to be told by Helen that it’s too early to go after Amanda.
Next week has the potential to be far more interesting because Amanda has apparently decided that Helen needs to go next week and Helen has decided that next week would be the perfect time to break up Amanda and McCrae by voting out McCrae.
Personally, I would think Amanda is the bigger threat than McCrae but Helen is all about voting out the guys, regardless of whether it actually makes any sense to do so or not.
As for now, we’re just waiting for the veto comp. to begin.

I like Amanda, because she is doing something… albeit annoying as Hell.
I like Helen, because she is running her own show, and doing well I might add. I would love to see her win. She is also from Chicago, my favorite city… and home to two of my favorite girls.

Also, when I embarked on my summer adventure, everyone was hating on and wanted to get rid of Elissa. She is still there, getting hardly any TV time, and seemingly not a threat to anyone in the house. I am wondering why?

That’s right GM did start it. And why? Candace had just got evicted… that was just as uncalled for. I didn’t know Candace was adopted, and if she was, then her mother really did want her. And who is to say her biological mother didn’t want her? Unfortunately, many times a woman gives up her child in it’s best interests, wishing she could keep it. I think that has to be one of the saddest situations to have to deal with, and applaud women who make that decision.

Becky… I cannot disagree with a word you said. When the show started, I liked Kaitlin, Helen and Amanda. I didn’t see or hear much of the first 3 weeks. I only watch the TV show and get spoilers from you guys and always listen to the indisputable experts on all things BB… 🙂 & 11. I still think Amanda is “playing the game” (as everyone loves to say) better than anyone in the house, with the exception of Helen. So that’s why I like her. Personally, I would not walk across the street to meet her.

Ted, you can google Candice and you will see a video of her meeting her biological mother for the first time. The circumstances are similar to what you surmise. Sometimes you can’t support a child and I would have to agree that it would be sooooo difficult to give your baby away. That would be love for sure. That was the second time GM referred to Candice that her mother gave her away or didn’t love her. GM is a scumbag with no grace at all.

So funny, “is 48 hours 2 days” – that made me laugh too Ted and you can have some compassion for her for many reasons but it doesn’t excuse her abhorent behavior. She’s small minded, aggressive, mean spirited, not mentality stable (IMHO) and probably has a 7th grade education even if she graduated high school. Some kids just get passed through for oh so many reasons. Bulemia is not something that they should even allow on the show. If she’s heaving in the BR, they should get her out of there. The HGs are being kind to her if they vote her out.

I wouldn’t be surprised if GM has an eating disorder, she doesn’t appear to be all that stable. GM also grew up in the world of pageants and modeling; she has to stay thin. Far too many models have eating disorders. That is whats wrong with these child pageants–it teaches them many unimportant and just plain wrong things.

Yes, Candice is adopted. She just connected withher birth mother She said she was grateful for her adoptive parents and when she lookedfor her birth mother she made sure sbe told them how much she loved them and that looking for birth mother was no reflection on her love for them.

Weight has never been an issue with pageants or modeling. I have been over weight since 20 and still make good money doing both. It is about your demeanor and attitude. Please don’t lump it to an eating disorder. There are bound to be some who do have problems but it is as individuals not the circuit.

Sorry Dubs Doll. I really don’t even know why I did that, I seldom spout off stereotypes like that. You are right, of course. If GM has an eating disorder, it has nothing to do with pageants or modeling and a lot to do about her own self-image. Depending on how long this has been going on, it may have a lot to do with how she was raised, too. If mommy emphasized staying thin with poor eating habit then GM would have carried that behavior into adulthood. Too many people today don’t know anything about proper nutrition and healthy eating. I know overweight people who wonder why they don’t lose eating one meal a day. I’m overweight, have changed my eating habits to several small meals (I spend most of my day either in a car or sitting at a desk) with snacks including candy and ice cream in moderation and still lose slowly and steadily. And I am on a medication with a side effect of weight gain.

Macy, if you are watching on Netflix… then you don’t need to worry about what you’ve dvr’d…… all episodes of Breaking Bad are on Netflix.
2011 was season 3. 2012 was season 4. So if you’ve dvr’d all of those.. then I guess you could watch that instead of Netflix (I don’t know how many you have dvr’d)
All I know for sure is the last 8 episodes of season 5 start tomorrow… so be sure to dvr those until you catch up. Once you’ve watched all that are available on netflix.. you are caught up

Macy, you need to watch Sons Of Anarchy too. I tried it a long time ago but didn’t like the first few episodes. Frannie & Aggie kept telling me how good it was so I gave it another try……. LOVED IT. (I don’t normally like motorcycle gang stuff… but this is so much better).

Yep.. Walking Dead is great! (and I HATE zombie movies!)
The best stuff is on tv these days.. better than the movies. Dexter, Breaking Bad, Sons Of Anarchy, Homeland, ..and so many more great series that movies can’t compete with.

7:50pm Out in the backyard – Spencer is grilling the steaks and the mackerel fish fillets on the BBQ. They comment on how the fish is super fishy tasting. Aaryn is in the kitchen making some sloppy balls. McCrae and Jessie sit on the backyard couch and smoke with talking about different foods. Spencer and Jessie are in the backyard alone. Spencer says well we are in the same place aren’t we? Jessie says we will have to fight for the POV. Spencer says I am going to fight like hell for the VETO. Sounds like Jessie was out pretty early.. so it didn’t really matter who won (for “the house” plan). They didn’t really want Spencer to win either so the noms could just stay the same. There was an “agreement” that Spencer would throw it if he could after Jessie was out. But Spencer didn’t throw it. Sounds like Helen, Andy, & Spencer were final 3….. and Spencer knocked out Helen before Andy won.
Amanda was irritated about that (of course). But the rest understand that you NEVER throw a veto when you’re on the block.. no matter who tells you that you’re safe. Andy & McCrae admitted they wouldn’t have throw it in that situation either.
If I was in that house with my Mom, Sister, and Daughter.. and they all said I was safe… I would still go for the veto!

This might lead somewhere but it probably won’t:
Amanda and McCrae are paranoid about America voting Judd back into the house. They were discussing perhaps voting out Elissa now (Andy, of course, would have to use his veto and agree to go along with the plan by nominating Elissa) because they think America would vote to send Elissa back into the house over Judd.
That said, I have a feeling that this is another one of those potential big moves that will end up going nowhere.

Amanda & McCrae do have their relationship problems… no doubt about that at all.
But some of it is also a ploy to make them seem not as close. Get this… Andy & McCrae approached Helen about a possible final 3 deal! 😯 I didn’t think Helen would fall for that in a million years.. but she seemed to think it was a good idea. McCrae explained that he couldn’t beat Amanda in final 2.
Personally, I think those 2 have enough arguments without manufacturing anything. But the farther they seem apart.. the more likely Helen will buy a final 3 deal. And in the event that Helen wins HOH Thursday.. that will keep Am & Mc from going on the block together.
We’ll see how that works out…..

Dubs doll. It is a well known fact that pageants do have an atmosphere of constant judging of ones physical appearance. It is also well known that many pageant and modeling coaches definitely do promote unhealthy actions in order to win. Not just eating disorders but other things as well to “improve” appearances. Judges do not judge based on personality or attitude. That’s bull. It is also well known that models and pageants are constantly making young girls feel they need to aspire to be “perfect” physically no matter what their body type. If pageants and modeling represented the average young woman body type out there the contestants would look totally different! But to say that pageants aren’t to blame is ridiculous as everybody knows that some pageant contestants and models do very much have issues with eating disorders and unhealthy choices to have a better physical appearance. It is not totally wrong for someone to assume that is where GM may have learned to harm her body in order to achieve a “Better” physical appearance.

When they bring a guest back into the house. .. which I expected BB to do when I saw it done on BBCan, it was such a shocking twist, and it was Canada’s vote who got back in. .. in order for it to be effective the person would go back in when they are down to the final four. If they put the guest back in too soon there are too many people to just turn around and put them right back out. Hopeflly the dumbass writers are aware that it is the timing that is critical because they have put guests back in before, but too use the key phrase of the season, they always did it “too soon”.
As for other TV shows 😉 there are very few that I watch a second time, but I would watch OZ again, gawd that show was brutal. Davinci’s Demo n s is pretty good for a new show, love looking at the costumes. Another awesome show, I missed it the first time it came out, caught the tail end of it the second time, and I am now recording it in its third showing is The Tudors.

My first pageant was at the age of 5 days old. I have no idea what the judges based me on I was sleeping. By the time I was 2 Mo. I had a contract for catalog modeling. I got chubby when I was 4 and still won crowns and did the photo shoots. I have won more than my fair share of crowns and money doing nothing more than standing still with a smile. I have seen obese girls win along with tooth pick size girls. But then I was raised in the South. Here it is your Personality and not the size of your ASS!

@Nick, its a well known fact that this country has an atmosphere of judging by looks alone–for many that is. BBUK has had a woman in her 60’s. This past season, 1 of the female HG’s was more than slightly overweight, though not obese. We don’t see in the US version. In fact, if you look at the online application for BB US, it specifically says “attractive”. So BB is only looking for good looking people however subjectively that term is applied.

I am glad it worked for you. Really I am just making a statement about how the glamorizing of super skinny models in America is hurting our young women. It’s nice to see them starting to go towards a more average size model but they are far from it.. I mean how bad is it that they call Kate Upton a plus size model!! That’s bullshit! Then they say Christina aguilara is over weight! It’s so sad. I’ll have you know that I prefer “softer” women and enjoy curves on a woman. in regard to pagents, I watch toddlers and tiaras and want to slap some moms and even dads, they feed the kids pixie sticks one after the other for those of u who do not know what a pixie stick is a tube filled with sugar, the kids suck it up and almost can climb the walls, imagine what a straight shot of sugar can do to a child and these kids suck on them all day long, they r deprived of naps, playtime as they have to practice, get fake nails put on, wear heavy hairpieces, even flippers which are front teeth, and this is just the tip of the iceberg I can go on and on they even have the kids diet but look at honey boo boo

We all here have the advantage of sort of knowing what most of the houseguests are thinking, with that being said I think that Helen’s best chance to get out McRae Amanda and yes , Andy would be to talk with aaryn and convince her if they vote out Jessie they are basically losing one more person on their side and that spencer will join up with McRae, Amanda and Andy where it will basically be four Against four, thereby losing any advantage they might have. If they keep Jessie they will be drawing a line in the sand and it will be Helen, Elissa, aaryn , Gina Marie and Jessie against McRae, Amanda and Andy. The girls seem to be slightly better in the comps so they have a good chance of picking them off . She should also stress to aaryn that between the five of them aaryn or Helen have an excellent chance of beating Elissa, Gina Marie and Jessie at the end but that their chances go down if they are up against McRae, Amanda or Andy. If Helen goes about it in the right way getting aaryn to see that they could be in charge and not Amanda and McRae they would have an excellent chance to flip the house. Just my two cents but I sure would like to see something happen even though I couldn’t care less about any of the houseguests left.

As for the pageant thing, there is some work being done to bring those things into the real world but we have a long way to go. Victoria’s Secret is a pretty big offender in the perfection of the skinny look arena. I think GM has many more problems than just bulemia.

I’m very upset with bigbrother this year. i don’t like the fact that bb continues to make sure that african americans are the minority and that makes them have little to no chance of winning. apparently they don’t use iq scores thus gm making the cut for the show. the fact that bb allowed the racist remarks to go on is apauling. before you get upset with my comment, put yourself in howard and candice’s place. i know for a fact that if there were more african americans in the cast, the remarks would have not been made. this year bb has promoted this behavior. i’d love to see african americans have a fair shot. i mean no harm, I’m simply speaking the truth.

You also said that you consider some of the stuff that goes on in the show to be child cruelty. Maybe I should not have taken your child cruelty remark to mean borderline abuse; to me they are same. Somebody who is cruel to a child is abusing that child.
Whether you continue to watch the program or not is beside the point. At one time, you obviously found something entertaining in it. Maybe you personally did not find the child cruelty/abuse to be entertaining but I can guarantee you that some people do.

Becky: I am like mamamargie , I have channel surfed sometimes and landed on that show. Go abead and include me in the attack. Sometimes I watch for a few minutes out of disbelief. As Jane said, we who watch the shows we do such as BB could be told if we don’t like the offensive parts we shouldnt watch an it would change. Doesn’t always work that way. @MM…you and me kid…been here since day 1!!!(and SF and aggie too) We ♥ and protect each other for sure! We got each other’s backs! But I honestly think this year is so bad and devoid of game that sometimes we look to make our own on the blog! I think most blogs and chat rooms tend to be mean and sarcastic to people and we arn’t used to that. @Becky nope don’t hate you. Actually I’ve talked to you the most on this blog this season. However I did feel your statement to MM is judgemental and a bit harsh, so I called it like I saw it, hypocritical. Even of there is an age difference in the shows its obvious that the shows influence one another. Hence GM is a pagent coach to the little Toddlers & Tiars Tweekers. I just feel its a bit of a cop out to judge someone and come back with the excuse your being judged. It’s kinda like Amanda being a bully than every time someone disagrees with her she plays victim. It’s just opinions because its that’s what the blog is about, voicing opinions but definitely not hate.
@Amazonia my son is 6’3 and 15yrs old, my Brother is 7’3. When I was in High School I told him he should come to the U.S. and play basketball, he’d be a rich man! He tells me he doesn’t know how to play. I told him, um duh, your 7’3 you don’t have too know how to play!!

@Becky….anyone can voice their opinion, but when you go after a blogfia member, we all take it personal. Opinions are a persons ‘personal’ view. I’m guessing your opinion of this blog “this blog has a lot to be desired” statement is your personal appraisal. It must not be too bad…you have been reading and commenting. If you don’t like it here, then I suggest you move on….but I really doubt that you will find a better place for BB info than here.

@Jane, so funny. At 7’3″ – “you don’t have to know how to play” Hilarious. One of the basketball teams my son played against had someone like that who couldn’t play at all so the coach just had him stand in front of the basket with his arms up. Knowing to leave every few seconds and jump back to block the ball. It was so funny to watch him. He tried so hard and it worked a lot of the time but geez he was uncoordinated. The coach was smart using him that way.

@starfish that’s hysterical. That’s pro a my how my brother would play. He’s super ski by too. Most of my family is tall & thin and can eat anything and not gain weight. I turned out average size 5’7 and gain ten pounds looking at Ghirardelli Square!

OK, lets get one thing straight, I never said anything about what somebody should or should not watch. What I did was ask a question of why a program is watched if the viewer thinks the parents on the show are being cruel to their kids. I then voiced my opinion about such situations. I never meant to attack anybody; that is why I feel as if I am being attacked in response to my opinion. I have been commenting on this board since last year as well as the Survivor for the past 2 seasons with no problems. However, in future I will keep my comments to myself unless they relate to the BB or Survivor.

Since I have no family or friends who watch BB, I was delighted to find this blog. It was so interesting to read how others react to the contestants and to the events of the week. I was sorry to read the personal attacks however. They add nothing to the subject at hand and tend to discourage folks from participating. I guess that email addresses are not published, so comments can’t be made privately. I would wish, then, that those who disagree with a comment could do so respectfully and not via personal attack.
Having said that, I put myself on the line with my own opinions:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GM is the most repugnant contestant I can imagine. She is ignorant (in the extreme), histrionic, and terribly insensitive and unkind. I can’t wait for her to be eliminated.
I don’t fault BB for not blocking the racist and homophobic remarks. A reality show, it seems to me, should be, above all, real. With GM, Aaryn, Spenser, it seems obvious that families, schools, and/or communities are failing in an essential duty -producing citizens with the ability to expect, respect, and even celebrate differences. At a minimum, they should be able to gracefully tolerate differences. As parents, educators, citizens, those three should serve as reminders that there is much work to be done.
