Hi, y’all:
I was out all day and all night yesterday and it sounds like I missed the latest drama in the Big Brother house. I swear, with all the showmances and the secret alliances and the psychotic outburts, it can be difficult to keep up.
As far as I can tell, here’s what’s happening:
Helen is HoH. She might very well be the smartest and the most mature person in the house but, oddly, that might not be the best strategy when dealing with the current crop of erratic HGs.
(When I first wrote this post, I accidentally called them “the current crop of erotic HGs.” But that’s not necessarily incorrect either…)
McCrae ended up telling everyone about the Moving Company, though it sounds like he put most of the blame on Nick. However, by doing this, he’s now made it so that Helen, Amanda, and Elissa trust the men in the house even less than before. So, apparently, that’s gotten them thinking about forming all-girl’s alliance (and that would include bring over Aaryn and Kaitlin) and focusing on getting out all the guys.
That’s understandable when you consider that guys like Jeremy, Spencer, and Howard are big, physical threats and all three of them have given the women reason not to trust them. (Howard finally admitted to Helen that he was the 4th vote against Elissa.) However, I think that Helen is engaging in some wishful thinking if she thinks that she’ll be able to trust Aaryn or Kaitlin either. I’m all about girl power but this really doesn’t seem like the year to try an All-female alliance.
Anyway, Helen nominated Aaryn and Kaitlin for eviction but her real plan was for the MVP to nominate Howard. Then, after the veto competition, someone would come off the block and Jeremy would go up in his place. And, if Jeremy happened to be the veto holder than Howard would go home. (That’s right — Howard and not Aaryn as everyone originally assumed.)
However, Elissa won the MVP and, though it hasn’t been officially announced yet, it appears that she decided to nominate Spencer instead of Howard. This led to Amanda getting really angry.
Apparently, the LFs kept going to trivia and fish last night but, from what I’m hearing, Elissa may have said that she was told in the Diary Room not to nominate Howard.
And I can understand why the BB producers might be nervous about the way things are playing out right now. Can you imagine the reaction if the only black man in the house was voted out while racists like Aaryn and Gina Marie were allowed to stay? It might make for good strategy to vote out a strong player but it wouldn’t make for good television.
Plus, you have to assume that the BB producers are nervous that Aaryn could somehow make it to the jury house or even to the finale.

As far as production wanting Howard to stay…… YES, I certainly believe they do. The reasons mentioned above and on the last page are exactly why. And it does make sense from their view.
If you listen real close to the clip on the last page, what Helen actually says is, “I think the show wants us to not put up Howard”
The words over the video say, “The show says do not put up Howard”
I may be playing a game of semantics here, but production can’t tell them who or who not to put up….. or who to vote out. They can make “strong suggestions” with the questions they ask.
They could have asked Helen/Elissa something like, “With all the racism that America is seeing in this house, do you think it’s a wise move to nominate Howard?”
In the end… I believe the HGs can nominate who they want. If anything, it speaks to how easily they are influenced more than anything.
This is not the first time production tried to steer a nomination… it wont be the last. Sometimes it works.. sometimes it doesn’t. It all depends who they are trying to sell their BS to. Some buy the BS. Some laugh at it.

Great update Lisa Marie. I hope wherever you were, you were having fun. I agree with You and JT on the Howard thing but I feel the main reason would be to keep him there while Candice is there to keep her from pounding the sh*t out of the 3 witches. They won’t stop taunting her and if it was me, my resolve would break, bit time!! Like Jane! It’s terrible that production says anything about anything IMO. But JT is right, it’s not the first and it won’t be the last time they do. 😈

I think CBS is feeling pressure, especially since Candice’s mother came out against the show. I like Howard, but I just didn’t buy all he said on BBAD last night. He is there to play the game. I don’t blame anyone in the house for not trusting him. If he and Spencer would just get off the Amanda kick, I feel the girls would trust him more. There is plenty of time to work on a new alliance. When you find yourself in a tough situation in the house, you don’t open your mouth about a player in a majority alliance. He should kick back and chill out for awhile.

This nomination (of Spencer) has Amanda & McCrae way too paranoid. Amanda blew up at Elissa & Helen for not nominating Howard (I didn’t realize Amanda was HOHMVP).
But moving forward, that paranoia could be their downfall. They (Am & Mc) now think that Helen & Elissa are in a 4 person alliance with Howard & Candice (they aren’t). Am & Mc “were” in great standing with Helen & Elissa.. and may still be. But if they keep pointing fingers at everyone, everyone will points their fingers to the door for McManda.

Of course the Powers That Be don’t want Howard to go home. They’ve got their own asses to think about. If they are worried about what the public will think if a black man gets evicted while the house is full of racists, then that’s their problem. They should have dealt with the situation from the get-go. Howard will leave the Hero – Big Brother would probably give him another shot at the half million on the next season if he so chooses (or at least I hope they would).
As far as Aaryn joining the girls team – Helen is delusional to think that will happen. Aaryn is evil to the core and will use her wiles to lure anyone to their eviction in this game.

janie, I absolutely agree… those should be the targets. But Amanda wants Howard gone because 1) he’s a guy …2) She sees him as a threat to her showmance.
She is putting her wishes above the group and will stop at virtually nothing to get her way. It might work for her, but it’s more likely to blow up in her face… not yet, but sooner than she wants.

The only wrench in the gears of this plan to BD Jeremy could be if Candice or GM wins the POV and decides not to use it.
Helen is talking to GM and telling her to use it… GM is agreeing (but we’ll see). I’m sure Helen will talk to Candice as well.. if she hasn’t already.
I bet Candice would be nervous about using the POV… because of the pushing to get Howard on the block.

I am not certain about this season either JT. It seems like the HGs are making really ridiculous choices.
I keep hoping that we will get a BB 40+ season, where all the HG’s would be over 40. They have tried putting in one or two players over 40 (who all get played and dumped before the end). How about a season where people who have some life experience get to use that to get to the end? Just sayin’.

Very disappointing to hear BB is strongly suggesting game play to the HGs.
I always flavored Elissa only because she was the underdog. Helen is a class act. Amanda is smart but needs to tone down being si pushy. Do you guys know what macrae’s game is now? Candice had things figured from the first week but she has to stop her emotions from getting in the way of her game. The mean spirited ones need to get out so the game can get started.

Margie, I’m having the same problem with the feeds today as you are.
The only 2 views that seem to work are camera 1 & the quad cam….. cams 2, 3, &4 just jump to random earlier events. I tried all sorts of things to correct it… must be all on their end.
I haven’t had a single issue with feeds since the first night until now. I did notice there is a new disclaimer message now… so maybe while they were programming that in… they messed up something else?
POV is getting under way… feeds went to trivia about 15 mins ago.

Good news that Jeremy isn’t playing in the POV comp. I hope they get Candice on board and straighten out Amanda’s game play. If Helen can keep it together and not be as trusting as you all are saying, then she could win this. She’s a super fan, knows this game and should realize that trusting the wrong people is not good for her game. She certainly knows who they are without a doubt.
Get Jeremy or Aaryn out now. Either one is good for the game. I too don’t want either one of them to earn being in the Jury House.

I follow many of the Big Brother blogs and continue to read references to Howard and his physical strength that bloggers believe he is holding in reserve for future challenges he may need to win. Really? We have seen so far that endurance is definitely not his strong suit – typical of most body builders – so unless an upcoming HOH or POV competition winner is who can bench press the most weight or do 50 pound bicep curls without their arms falling off, Howard will likely not do well in any future competitions with or without his full commitment.
Mirror Man, Jesse, the body builder of past BB history, though obnoxious most of the time, had excellent endurance as well physical strength that proved to be his greatest asset in the game.
Howard’s social game, if successful, will be what keeps him in the house, not his brute strength.

the Blog is slow right now cause the Feeds is on Trivia meaning the HG’s are playing a very looooooooooooong POV Comp…close to 4 hrs now…..
and we will see about 10 minutes on Wed Pov show…..u have to understand that the reason they never show us the Comps is that they have Directors filming it and u know how Directors direct, right……”Take 5….Take 14…..Take 23…..they continue to re-do it till they get what they want from them….. i found this out in the Feeds back in BB7 & BB8 when the HG’s were allowed to talk about Production….interesting…. 🙂

You’re as cynical as I am, Jeff. I know I’m wrong, but I think they did both the PoV comp and were given a two-hour political correctness lecture we will never hear about. I am cynical about everything these days and believe about 11% of what I see, hear an read. And we both now CBS has a powerful PR machine. @HoH8: Who knows? Maybe. But, if so, we wouldn’t hear about it for some time. I’m good at judging faces and so far by what I have seen, doesn’t seem they (the HGs en masse) were chastised. Janice, production works hard to influence the HGs every season, particularly when it comes to nominations. Discussions by the HGs have been caught on live feed and on BBAD. I’m sure there would be some serious publicity issues if Howard were to leave before Aaryn.
I hope they can stick to the plan to nominate and vote out Jeremy. I’m just tired of both he and Aaryn.

@Starfish: Saw him and 3rd Eye Girl in April here in Sin City. Best concert ever. The dude’s at the top of his game, and that’s saying something. Played the Montreaux Jazz festival today. I’m sure he has a guitar in his hands right now…
