Big Brother 18: A Few Thoughts On Tonight’s SHow

Hi everyone!

So, what did everyone think of tonight’s show?

My feelings are mixed.  On the one hand, I was happy to see that Big Brother finally lived up to the whole “expect the unexpected” tag line.  Up until very late yesterday, Tiffany was on her way up.  And then, as the result of one night of strategy, the entire house flipped!  By a vote of 5-4, Bronte was voted out and, since I can’t stand Bronte or the Spy Girls, I was extremely happy.

But then, the team twist kicked in.  In the hours leading up to tonight’s eviction, everyone agreed that Frank could not win HoH.  The HGs sat around and plotted how they would each throw the HoH and allow Tiffany to win.  And once Tiffany was HoH, she could make the entire house happy by nominating Frank.  Frank would be evicted and, since he had already let everyone know that he wanted Tiffany out, there would be no blood on anyone’s hands.

And they stayed up with Tiffany all night and they looked at the pictures hanging on the wall and they studied them and they tried to help Tiffany memorize every detail.  And Tiffay repeatedly told them that she has a photogenic memory.

And then, at the HoH comp, what happened?  Tiffany answered wrong and was eliminated fairly early.  And Frank nearly won HoH.  Fortunately, Paulie managed to pull out a victory but, since Paulie is a member of Category 4, that means that Frank and Bridgette now have immunity for the week.

BLEH!

With all that in mind, here’s a few more random thoughts about tonight’s show:

1. I loved Tiffany’s speech.  Paul’s speech was a typical Paul speech and, if you like Paul, you probably enjoyed it.  Bronte’s speech just reminded me so much why I wanted Bronte out of the house.  Delivered with her typical fake shyness, Bronte announced that she wasn’t mean.  Well, we all know that isn’t true.  Bronte has literally spent this entire week in the HoH room bragging about how mean she is.
2. For the record, here’s how the voting went: Frank, Natalie, James, and Paulie all voted for Tiffany.  Michelle, Nicole, Zakiyah, Corey, and Da’Vonne voted for Bronte.  Bronte got 5 votes.  Tiffany got 4.
3. Apparently, the other HGs told Bronte that she was going to be voted out 20 minutes before the show started.  I’m not happy about that and I don’t understand why, every season, the HGs do this.  It’s not a true blindside if you’re given an advanced warning.
4. I’m also not happy with how tonight’s show was edited.  Da’Vonne was given far too much credit for planning the blindside.  Da’Vonne really didn’t have much to do with it.  If anything, Michelle deserves most of the credit for keeping everyone together but you wouldn’t know that if you hadn’t ever watched the live feeds or Big Brother After Dark.

Now that Paulie is HoH, I’m not really sure who he’s going to nominate but I have a feeling that he might be planning on targeting Da’Vonne, who nobody in the house really seems to trust.  There’s also the possibility that he might nominate Tiffany, especially after she failed to win HoH.

For now, Paulie is HoH and, as members of Category 4, Frank, Michelle, and Bridgette have immunity.  If Frank’s smart, he’ll lay low for the week and maybe try to build some new alliances and smooth over some hurt feelings.  However, I don’t know if Frank has it in him.

Speaking of Frank, I’ll be in his home state of Oklahoma this weekend!  However, I will be checking in with what’s happening in the house whenever I can.

This upcoming week should be an interesting one!  (And remember, on July 22nd, we’ll find out who is reentering the house!)
