Big Brother 19 — Cody’s Bad Week

Hi y’all!

Look, I’ll just be honest.  I have had a really, really terrible day and I’m not in a particularly good mood.  I’m not asking for sympathy.  It’s just something that happens.  I’m sure everyone who reads this blog has had to deal with a bad day or two as well.  What’s the old saying?  Only game show hosts are happy all the time.

That said, I could have the worst week of my life and it would still probably be better than the week that Cody and Jessica have had.

Let’s consider this:

Cody becomes HoH.  He forms a mega alliance.  He starts a showmance.  He’s got everything and it just took him one week!

But then, suddenly, everything falls apart.  On eviction night, both he and Jessica are totally blindsided when Jillian is voted out of the house.  During the HoH competition, Cody can only watch as literally every other houseguest helps Paul become the new Head of Household.  In just one night, Cody went from thinking that he was the most powerful person in the house to knowing that he actually had no power whatsoever.

I don’t know for sure but I’m going to guess that Cody was a recruit.  So many of the mistakes he made were mistakes that, in theory, would never be made by someone who knew the game.  Anyone who has watched Big Brother knows that it’s usually a mistake to compete too hard.  It’s a mistake to try to form a mega-alliance, especially during the first week.  It’s a mistake to assume that people will just do what you say.  For that matter, anyone with any Big Brother experience would have known that there was no way that the show’s only returning player would be evicted during the first week.

So now, Cody is out of power.  And not only does the new HoH hate him but he’s also made it clear that anyone who is friendly to either Cody or Jessica will automatically become a target.

Cody is now totally isolated from the house.  Even though neither he nor Jessica were nominated for eviction, Cody knew that he was still the target.  He did not get to compete for the veto.  And now, after the veto ceremony, he’s been put on the block.  He is totally powerless to prevent anything that’s happening.

Oh!  And, on top of all that, he’s a have not.  He’s eating slop.  He’s taking cold showers.  He’s sleeping on a bed of spikes.  AND HE HAS TO WEAR A FROG COSTUME AND HOP AROUND THE HOUSE!

I mean, honestly, when I consider all of that, I realize that my occasional bad days are nothing compared to what’s going on with Cody and Jessica.

It’s funny.  On twitter, a lot of people dislike Cody and Jessica.  I know that some of you on the blog dislike Cody and some of you like him.  Out of respect for both sides, I’ve tried to keep my feelings about both him and Jessica to myself.  (I don’t particularly like Cody and Jessica but, at the same time, I don’t really like Paul and Christmas that much either.)  But, over the past few days, there’s been subtle shift, at least as far as the Big Brother fans on twitter are concerned.  It’s not that Cody has gotten anymore popular as much as Paul’s obsession with not just evicting but destroying him has led to a backlash against Paul.  I mean, evicting people is a part of the game.  And we all love a good blindside.  But Paul’s obsession with vengeance is not exactly a good look for anyone.

Anyway, right now, the only way that Cody could avoid eviction would be if Christmas goes to the hospital on Wednesday for her surgery and doesn’t get to re-enter the house.  If that happened, I imagine this week’s eviction would be canceled.  But Christmas has said that she’s determined to return.

So, right now, it looks like it’s going to be 8-1-1 vote, assuming Kevin actually follows Paul’s orders to vote for Ramses and Jessica votes for Alex.  Cody will be evicted but, if there is a battle back, I could easily imagine Cody winning it.

(Paul has been telling everyone that there won’t be a battleback until they reach the jury.  Obviously, he doesn’t know that there’s a Friday show coming up in just two weeks…)

If Cody comes back, it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
