Big Brother 27 — About Tonight

Well, hello there!

After taking last year off, I am happy to be back and writing about Big Brother 27!

So, what did everyone think of the premiere?  As usual, there were things that I liked  and there were things that I really disliked.  For instance, I thought that most of the houseguests seem like they have potential.  I automatically liked both Adrian and Keanu.  I think I’m going to like Zach and Lauren but I’m withholding my final judgment until the live feeds come online on Sunday night.  Vince seems like he could be a memorable houseguest.  Both Kelley and Ava seemed like they were trying a little bit too hard to be quirky.  Jimmy said that he was a Frankie Grande fan, which made me shudder almost as much as the Cowboy talking about how much he likes Jesse.

I liked the new look of the house, though, as always, I’m weary about the twists.  Big Brother often goes overboard with the twists.  I missed last season but the season before that, remember when Frankie and Britney changed reality or whatever it was that was supposed to be going on?  I’m hoping we’re not going to have to deal with anything like that this season.

Rachel is the mystery houseguest.  I am not happy about that.  I know a lot of people love Rachel and I’ll admit that she does make for good television.  My main issue with Rachel being in the house is that, much as with Paul eight seasons ago, it’s going to turn the season into the Rachel Show.  The new houseguests seem like they’re strong enough to carry the season without having to bring in a former winner.

Our first Head of Household is Vince.  Vince will have to nominate three people for eviction.  The three nominees will compete on eviction night and whoever wins will come off the block.  Apparently, this is going to be the new way of doing nominations.  If Vince was smart and if the game was fair, he would try to get rid of Rachel early but that’s not going to happen.  The show’s producers always find a way to protect the returning houseguests.

The other big twist is that one of the houseguests is an accomplice to the evil Mastermind.  If, by Sunday, the other houseguests figure out who the accomplice is, that person will be evicted from the house.  Otherwise, the accomplice will stay in the house and compete as the 17th houseguest.

To clarify, Rachel is indeed competing this season.  She is the 16th houseguest.  (The show didn’t make this as clear as it could have.)  And the accomplice will compete as well, unless they are unmasked before Sunday.  If the accomplice unmasked, they will become the 17th Houseguest.  The feeds will go live on Sunday night.  I assume that’s to keep us in the dark as to who the accomplice is.

So, what does everyone think?  Who do you like?  Who do you dislike?  Who do you hope Vinny targets?  My favorites are Keanu, Adrian, Zach, and Lauren.  As for the first nominations, Vince is pretty much in a lose-lose situation as far as targeting anyone is concerned.  Rachel’s the biggest threat but there’s no way production’s going to let her get voted out.  Jimmy and Amy have already started an alliance so that’s really who Vinny should target but that would also mean going back on an earlier promise not to target Jimmy.  Because Zach won $10,000 in the the first comp of the season, I could see him being an easy compromise pick on Vince’s part.

We’ll see what happens!  I’m mostly just happy to be back this season!  It looks like it might actually be a good one!

Love,

Lisa Marie
