Big Brother 18 — The Best Laid Plans of Paul and men…

Hi, everyone!

Now, I may turn out to be wrong about this but I think that this could actually be an interesting week in the house. One thing that I’ve been wondering during the past few weeks is what the houseguests would do once Frank was finally voted out. It’s been pretty obvious that the only thing that was really holding together most of the alliances was everyone’s mutual dislike of Frank. He was everyone’s target and he was basically living rent-free inside everyone’s mind. It seemed to me that most of the house was so obsessed with getting out Frank that they weren’t even thinking about what to do after he left.

Well, Frank is now gone. He did not have the magic envelope. A lot of people think that Nicole has the return ticket, because she picked the 8th envelope and there’s a theory that some of the clues in the house indicated that the 8th envelope was the one to pick. Regardless of who has the envelope, they only have three more weeks to use their ticket. The tickets expire on August 18th.

But the important thing is that, with Frank gone, it’s suddenly obvious how fragile most of the alliances are. Despite all the showmances, it doesn’t really seem like there’s much loyalty in the house. There don’t seem to be any true friendships, despite what Paul occasionally says. And it really doesn’t seem like anyone in the house has a long term strategy.

Paul is HoH. He made his nominations today and … well, let’s just say that Paul has disappointed me. After briefly threatening to emerge as a compelling player, Paul has revealed himself to be just as much of a buffoon as he appeared to be at the start of the season. He spends a lot of time bragging about himself and claiming to be an expert on how Big Brother is played but it’s all empty boasting.

Paul nominated Bridgette and Paulie for eviction but he claims that neither one of them is his actual target. Instead, he’s planning on backdooring Da’Vonne. (When last I checked, Da’Vonne seemed to be under the impression that the plan was to backdoor Nicole.) What’s stupid is that, for all his bluster, Paul couldn’t just make his nominations. Instead, he asked for a volunteer to go up with Bridgette. For a long while, it looked like Nicole would be the other nominee but then Nicole spent all Thursday night whining and finally, Paulie agreed to take her place.

And really, that was a stupid move on Paulie’s part. If he seriously wants to focus the house on getting rid of either Da’Vonne or Nicole, Paul never should have agreed to nominate Paulie. There’s too many people in the house who view Paulie as being a legitimate threat and it’s easy to imagine that they could easily decide that they’d rather keep Da’Vonne (or Nicole) and instead vote out Paulie. Paulie’s given them the perfect chance to do so.

It wouldn’t surprise me if something like that happened. Nobody in the house has any long-term strategy and Paul isn’t a particularly intimidating houseguest. I doubt anyone is thinking, “We better keep Paul happy or he might come after us.” Just about everyone in the house seems to realize that Paul is a joke, except for Paul.

Right now, the nominees are Bridgette and Paulie. And the target appears to be Da’Vonne. But I wouldn’t be surprised if things changed before the vote on Thursday.

Thank you Lisa. Just finished watching some BBAD. Nothing earth shattering going on. Your report is right on, as usual. I wish I could get interested in BBAD, but it’s just too boring! As Victor said tonight, the HG’S have about 80% downtime. They need to have some kind of activity to keep them from getting lazy! I remember in past seasons the HG’S played games that kept them moving! I guess that’s all I have for now! Goodnight! 😴😴

Paulie should be voted out while they have the chance. Very stupid of him to volunteer as a pawn. That doesn’t work out so well many times.

Paul is just there to irritate us and he’s doing a splendid job of that! On my last nerve with his big ego and big mouth!

I was trying to think who would be the big target if the HG get wise to the situation and sent Paulie home now that they’ve got the chance. Paul is a nincompoop. He was doing the most idiotic gyrations during comp before last. I’m thinking he does that partly to give the impression he has this great personality. I actually think he’s kind of sad.

So I think James would take over the house if Paulie leaves. Da could do it if anyone liked her, but no one does.

I too remember clearly when Rachel laid out her warning to “floaters”, and I think that seared the word into my brain. I never heard of coasters, except to put under your drink. I just imagine something floating by without anyone noticing (i.e. most BB houseguests).

What do these people think they are there for? To dodge eviction until the end so they can win?

And yes half the house are just staying low so they can make it to the end and give the typical final two speech…”I plaid an honest game. I didn’t get any blood on my hands, I was loyal, I was sincere, I deserve to win” cuz they did NOTHING. That’s the problem with having “non bb fans” in the house. They think it’s a lazy vacation with a cash prize in the end if they make it. I would like to see a season with nothing but die hard super fans. Cbs could have their pick of houseguests just from the blogs and online pages. No more recruits !!!!

I think I like the word floater better than coaster, too. To me a floater is someone who isn’t grounded in the game and floats from vote to vote with the house or the largest number of people. They are ignored as a threat, as they don’t contribute any strategy or do well in any of the comps. They usually have one person they choose as a confidante, but mostly just listen and go along with whatever plan is suggested to them.
Thanks Lisa for another great summary. I agree with everything you said. I think if Paulie doesn’t win the veto, he may be the next
to leave the house. I can see Da pushing for that to happen.

Thanks Lisa. I have paraphrased much of what you said over the last couple of days, so I hate to keep repeating. But I do agree that they need to knock off this VOLUNTEER thing!!! Whether it’s for HNs or Noms. This isn’t supposed to be EASY! It’s supposed to make people squirm and be uncomfortable and disappointed and MAD or where is the incentive to fight back ??? Or WIN anything when they just expect to cake walk to the end??? You mentioned that the HGS aren’t afraid of Paul. Well DUH! The guy acts like a buffoon and then doesn’t show any power by electing 2 people for noms without consulting them 1st! I agree with two….I don’t think Paul has much personality at ALL!! He’s just ON all the time to cover how insecure he feels in the house!

Paulie may have made a huge mistake .. As I have said, he doesn’t have that guy to cover his back like his brother did. Paul?? Corey??? Or Z???? PUHLEASEEE!!!! lol But…..Paulie , being Cody’s bro and being who he is.instilled both respect and fear in the other HGS I think. So hopefully they would be afriad to mess with him. But PLANNING to BD someone doesn’t always goes the way one plans. Lots of variables. Any of them goes wrong, Bridge and Paulie will still be sitting there come next Thurs. So does Paulie have enough of an alliance with the boys to stay?? Will they turn on him to make their shot at winning easier?? And will Bridge work her charms and get people on her side??? Nicole has never been nominated and has seriously done nothing! She should have been put up OTB. And I HOPE she doesn’t have the return ticket. She’s already been in the house twice and won nothing but a BF! Total waste of a twist!!

BTW…..Paul still has his beard. YOUR BOY is nothing but BS!!!!!lol (My GOD I hate it when he says that!!!! SKIN~~~~~>CRAWL!!!)LOL

starfish July 30, 2016 at 9:50 am: Star, I think Paulie did make a big mistake volunteering for the block. That’s a huge no no. Besides it’s an opportunity for the house to get a big competitor out. It would be a good move by the house. IMO

As for Nicole, she’s just taking up space and irritating my ears with her whiny self.

Paul is just very odd and gives me the impression of insecurity so he over compensates by being obnoxious. I’ll bet he thinks he’s funny and that we really love him. Someone said he may be ADHD. I guess that’s possible but production plays a big part in stirring the pot to get people to “show personality” for the cameras. Some just plain overdo it.

IMHO: I think Paul may be suffering from ADHD. He seldom rests. He is either talking 90 miles an hour or roaming from one room to the other. Yes, I think he’s insecure (which is part of ADHD), but I
think most of it is nervous energy. Immaturity goes along with that.
I’ve watched him cook and he isn’t even calm when doing that. Whatever his problems, it is hard for someone on the outside to watch. It’s even harder to listen to his constant, repetitive chatter.

I think the beard will stay until he might need something to gain
attention again. He may be waiting for eviction night to spring it
on the audience. Or it all may have been an empty promise. With
Paul you never know. I don’t think even he knows.

Star: I love it!! I thought I was the only one who did that. See one
thing but thinking about something else and end up confusing them.
Wait until you reach the age where you forget what you’re talking
about in the middle of a conversation. Distractions are everywhere
and are harder to block out or work them in the correct order.
Didn’t catch the sparkly beard thing. But then I often am doing a
Sudoko puzzle and just listening. It helps because I have to strain
so hard to understand what they are saying when they whisper. It
seems like whispering or shouting is the only way they know how
to talk. They don’t stay on them about blocking their microphones
as much this year, either. Or is it just my imagination? 🙂 🙂

I am usually on the computer here or on FB when BBAD is on. I have to wait until it is all taped so I can FF it. The ads drive me nuts and they are usually 5 mins long between air time. But I can’t just sit here. I have to do something!!!

I hate it when they whisper. Usually it;’s kind of loud but you still can’t make it out. Makes you feel partially deaf. lol But tonight when Paulie was talking to Meech, I finally just let it go. He was quieter than any of the girls and even tho I turned it up, I got nuthin’….lol

I have heard them say to not disrupt their mics, but other than to put one on or go get a battery, I haven’t heard anything.

Well, I’m off for a bit. BBL. Wonder when they will do POV? Lately it’s been late at nite. We’re going to be out and about and out for dinner so I’ll prolly be checking in on my cell. 😉

Ok I just had a thought. Take the 2nd place people from bb and put them on Survivor. Take the 2nd place people on Survivor and put them in the bb house. Now that might be interesting. Caleb went on survivor and he was absolutely amazing and such a different person out there then he was in the bb house. His time was short since he was medically removed from the game but he was a totally different person out there. Those are just my early morning thoughts.

Paul is not going to shave that beard. I heard him say one day that he was going to keep the beard so people will recognize him in the real world when he gets out! lol

It would not surprise me that Paulie made a dreadful mistake by agreeing to be the pawn. With the bunch we have this year nothing is a surprise. Most of them don’t have a clue, i.e. Natalie, Victor, etc.

@Star and Sherry….lol….I just bought new speakers for BB this year because half the time in the past I would turn the speakers all the way up and couldn’t understand a word!!! Guess what. Even with the new speakers I sometimes can’t hear them! lol. The one I have heard them call out the most about the microphone this year is Michelle. She is constantly covered up in her bed with the covers over her mike.

I notice the sparkly stuff in Paul’s beard all the time and wonder what the heck it is. Some of Frankie’s left over glitter maybe!

I don’t always use my speakers… but have to for feeds. And sometimes I even have to put headphones on if it’s something real interesting. But even at that still can’t quite make out what they’re saying.
And the louder I turn it up… the louder the background noise is. Ugh.

Margie: So glad my hearing isn’t going as well as my memory!
There has to be some way to correct this in the house. Maybe
they need stronger mics. I know they want to prevent others in the
house from hearing their conversations, but the whispering drives
the viewers crazy. I seldom have trouble hearing James, but Nat
is bad about it if in bed. I think it’s so much worse when they are
in bed, and this group stays in bed an awful lot.

Jennie…I think Paul flirts with Nat a little bit. He isn’t getting ANY attention from any of the girls in the house and Nat is easy to pick on ,really nice and I think he doesn’t find James threatening…lol ALl the other guys have their CHICKS so I think his MANHOOD feels threatened!!lol He was talking last night up in HOH to his captive audience about BONING chicks, how old he was when he first BONED(15), how he told his parents he was going to BONE or move out…..ya we get it loser!~ You’ve got a good imagination. And a potty mouth!!! lol All I could think was……What girl wou;d BONE THAT????!!! LOL 😀

It would be great game play (and the only logical thing) to get Paulie out this week. Unfortunately, I doubt anyone will have the balls to make a move. They might as well end the season and cut a check for 500K to Paulie. The feeds are not worth watching without Frank. I can not stand the stupid showmances this season. Paul is a joke..hard to believe casting couldn’t have done better.

It would be the best move for a lot of the house to vote out Paulie if he is still sitting there Thursday. It seems unlikely, but is getting closer to possible every day with Z & Paulie’s crumbling relationship. Those two seem closer to ending every day.

Z could wake up and decide to cut him before he cuts her. She would need 4 more votes. Da.. no-brainer there. Maybe Meech. Not sure how Nic / Cor , James /Nat would go. Could possible be persuaded with the right approach. I don’t think James would really care if Paulie left.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all really. If Z & P had a strong relationship.. it would be very unlikely. But they don’t.

I think no one should ever agree3 to go up on the block. As far as I am concerned, Nicole could have whined until her face turned blue. She is truly a snake in the grass. I think people should do what is best for their game, and stop all of the backdooring because it is old, boring, and no longer exciting to watch.

And I totally think Nicole should have gone up. She was asked, she had NEVER been on the block this season, and she has done ZERO in the house except snuggle with Corey! Who I SO don’t think is the dreamboat she does but..to each. lol Her 1st HOH was given to her. She has been floating by stress free ever since! I agree taht Paulie’s move to volunter may come back to bit him in the butt. Not a biggie, but I just read that Corey has ADD! And here we were thinking it was Paul. (also likely) He must not have the hyper kind tho because he moves and talks like a Southern Sloth!!! There are times I just want to pull the darn words out of his mouth!!! lol But his eyes often move fast and look kind of crazy. He said it makes him focus better to take his Ritalin otherwise he can only focus on one thing. (sounds like he’s smoking pot to me!)l,ol But they took it away from him saying it was a game advantage.
I think they give kids that drug way too often!!! Especially for something like that! Just slow down and concentrate!!! Practice doing so. Don’t just POP a pill! Now I think PAUL actually needs it but prolly doesn’t take it. But this explains some things to me. I thought there was something strange about Corey. But tehn all 20 somethings seem strange to me anymore……lol 😀

Thanks Star. Just checked in to see if it was still going but it ended an hour ago? LOL… musta been a pretty quick / simple one.

That is the least interesting result…. maybe? …maybe not. Da has to be really worried now. Obviously no need to get in Paulie’s ear about whether or not to use it, but she will be in Paul’s ear about the replacement (pushing for Nicole I suppose).

Bridgette winning would have been most interesting… but this is ok too. Should be some drama from this.

On 2nd thought… maybe Da will get in his ear… tell him there is no need because he is safe? But since she wants Nicole out that prolly wont happen. Would be enjoyable to watch though. The one thing Paulie said the other day that was interesting, he said he wouldn’t mind if he stayed on the block to see how others act (namely Z & Da… to see if they start plotting)

(PS gotta love the enthusiasm that goes with 50 !s.. LOL)

Poor boy won’t be able to get any sleep this week!!!lol She will try putting up Nic to start to break up couple….ditto Nat…..maybe even James! She will prolly try to get an alliance going with him too. She can be pretty persuasive….when she’s not sleeping all the time…lol I don’t expect him to budge but you never know in this game!! I was actually relieved because at this point, he is the only one I see who has their eye on the prize!! He was sitting around alone a lot last nite….or talking to Meech….you could see him thinking…like Derrick used to. In fact I think Grasshopper learned a few things from Derrick and is putting them to use. I just hope this week goes fast! If I ahe to be a captive audience for Paul and his sexual exploits stories any longer I may go deaf!!lol (on purpose!!)

I’m glad he won POV. I only hope Paul puts DA up for the replacement. Surely Paulie isn’t stupid enough to keep himself on the block and blow a perfectly good opportunity to rid the house of another female and try for more balance.
I know he would like to break up Corey and Nic, but I think he
may need the double support for a while longer. I’m sure there
might be even a random thought about Z and a desire to rid himself of her craziness.
It’s a long time until Thurs. night. Are they even contemplating
a double eviction?

As of now it still appears Da will be the replacement. Should be some good drama later with her trying to find out who is going up.
I’d think they would tell her before the veto ceremony… but for today we might just get the old “I’m not sure yet” line.

Tendr. Hard to explain. But Pailie will say type tbing at the end of every sentence. It’s something that would be OK to use occasionally if trying to explain something, but it’s a habit with him. Like some people say Um. Just hard to listen to after awhile type thing. See? Lol

I think Da or Nichole should go, I was really hoping Paulie the pawn would go ~ just to say sometimes pawns do go home, and no one should volunteer to go on the block, besides Paulie is very confident in his self. he does win comps. Nichole is being to pissy for me crying and such ~ Da flipping her lips to much. IMO
