Big Brother 23 — Week 6 Veto Meeting

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 16, 2021

The veto meeting was held today. There were two vetoes in play, one which was held by Kyland and the other which was held by Alyssa.

Before the veto meeting, Kyland told Derek F that he was planning on using it to take Claire off the block and backdoor Brittini. Derek was not happy about this because he was hoping that Kyland would use the veto on him and that it would be Brittini and Claire sitting in the chairs on Thursday night. Even though Derek F. is the one who volunteered to be a pawn, he’s now scared that people are actually going to vote for him. He’s particularly worried about Azah, who is close to Brittini. And while I certainly can’t fault Derek for being concerned, he actually ended up getting a bit whiny by the time his meeting with Kyland ended. I found myself kind of hoping the House would vote him out just so I wouldn’t have to listen to him cry anymore.

Kyland was not moved by Derek F’s paranoia. At the veto meeting, he took Claire down and nominated Brittini. Alyssa decided not to use her veto.

So, the nominees are now Derek F. and Brittini and even though Derek F. is still trying to convince everyone that he was nominated because he and Kyland got into a fight, everyone pretty much understands that Brittini is the target. Brittini needless to say is not happy.

After the veto meeting, Brittini went up to the HoH room and had a conversation with Kyland. Kyland lied to Brittini and told her that he was “indifferent” about who the House decided to vote out. When Brittini mentioned that she would be campaigning to stay, Kyland told her not to say a negative word about him while she was campaigning or he would be forced to tell people to vote to evict her. However, Kyland is already telling people to vote out Brittini so he’s being a bit of hypocrite. Brittini, for her part, was not amused and she is now telling everyone that if she stays, she’ll be going after Kyland.

And who knows? It might work in her favor. Kyland has alienated a lot of people in the House and even his allies in the Cookout feel that he cares more about Sarah Beth than his alliance with them. Kyland might overplay his hand this week. Of course, Brittini has alienated a lot of people as well so who knows.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 23 — Week 6 Veto Comp Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 15, 2021

Yesterday’s veto comp featured a twist that I don’t think they’ve ever before tried on Big Brother. First, there was the regular veto competition, which featured Claire, Derek F., Kyland, Azah, Brittini, and Alyssa as competition. Then, there was a second competition, in which the the competitors placed their bets on who they thought would win. I think the rule was that they could bet on anyone competing other than themselves.

The veto competition itself was won by Alyssa, who was viewed as being a potential backdoor target this week. And, because he bet on her to win, Kyland won the second veto! So, there are now two vetoes that might be played during tomorrow’s veto ceremony. If one of those vetoes is used, Alyssa cannot be put up as a replacement nominee.

“Okay, let’s go!” to quote both Kaycee and Brittini. And indeed, it appears that Brittini may indeed be going because, whether it’s Alyssa who uses the veto or Kyland, Kyland wants to backdoor Brittini and get her out of the house. Kyland has never trusted Brittini and apparently, Brittini did really well in the earlier High Rollers game, which has led to everyone else viewing her as being a threat.

So, one way or the other, it appears that this week will be the week that Brittini gets backdoored.

Big Brother 23 — Week 6 Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 13, 2021

Kyland made his nominations earlier today and he left the house in a state of confusion.

He nominated:

Derek F.

and

Claire!

After the nominations, Derek F. started talking to Brittini and Azah and telling them that he is Kyland’s target because he got into a fight with Kyland at six in the morning over something that happened during the HoH comp. Derek F. is lying. He was asleep at 6 in the morning.

Instead, here’s what happened. Kyland wants to backdoor either Brittini or Alyssa, though he also doesn’t have a problem with Claire going home this week. Derek F. volunteered to go up as a pawn. However, in order to keep the House from figuring out about the backdoor plan, Derek F. is pretending that he and Kyland are fighting.

What’s strange is that Derek F. is even pretending with the members of the Cookout, instead of telling them the truth. I’m not sure why. Maybe they want to keep Brittini and Alyssa from feeling like they have to go after the veto.

After the nominations, the feeds went down and they’ve been down for several hours. I’m guessing that the High Rollers’ Room comp has been going on for most of today. When the feeds return, we’ll presumably discover whether anyone has won a special power or anything like that.

Until then, the house stands are follows:

HoH; Kyland

Nominees: Claire and Derek F.

Big Brother 23 — About Tonight

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 12, 2021

(SPOILERS FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE LATEST EVICTION EPISODE)

So, tonight, we had the final eviction before jury. Sarah Beth and Christian were the nominees and, to the surprise of no one, Christian was the one who ended up leaving the house. That means that Derek X pulled off exactly what he set out to do. He backdoored Christian and got a huge threat out of the house. The final vote was 7-2. Only Alyssa and Xavier voted to keep Christian, their former leader back when they were members of the Kings.

At the end of the episode, Julie announced that the latest twist is the Big Brother Game Room. There are now three game rooms in the Big Brother House where the HGs can compete for various prizes. However, each room costs a certain amount of BB Bucks. How do the houseguests get BB Bucks? They get them from the viewers, who have been encouraged to vote for their favorite houseguests. The more votes a houseguest gets, the more money they receive. This twist will last for the next three weeks and hopefully, it won’t be as much of a dud as the wildcard twist.

The show ended before they started the HoH competition. However, the feeds have just come back and Kyland is the new HoH! This is his second time to be HoH. Sarah Beth is probably safe and I imagine all the members of the Cookout are safe. So far, I’ve heard Derek X say that Alyssa should be the targets while Kyland has said that Brittini should be nervous, though Kyland has also said that he “probably” won’t actually nominate her.

Nominations are tomorrow!

Big Brother 23 — Alyssa is Campaigning

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 10, 2021

So, just to recap, here’s the situation in the House.

Derek X is HoH.

Sarah Beth and, now, Christian are on the block.

Christian is the target and, unlike Brent, he knows he’s the target. He’s not happy about it but you know who is even less happy about it? Alyssa. Alyssa is determined to keep Christian in the House and she’s been campaigning as if she’s the one who is up for eviction on Thursday. Perhaps she remembers how, in previous seasons, the eviction of one member of a showmance has usually led straight to the eviction of the other.

Alyssa’s pitch has been that Sarah Beth is a bigger threat than Christian because of how close Sarah Beth is to Kyland. It’s basically the same argument that Tiffany was making earlier in the week. Alyssa is convinced that she’s won over the votes of Brittini, Xavier, and Derek F and she is now focusing her efforts on Claire and Azah. However, Claire has told Brittini and Tiffany that she’s going to vote to evict Christian and Derek F. has also made it clear that he was lying when he said that Christian had his vote. As for Brittini, she says that she was caught off guard when Alyssa approached her and just promised to vote to keep Christian to get Alysssa to leave her alone. Brittini, however, still says that she might go ahead and vote to keep Christian, just so Alyssa doesn’t come after her. Xavier says that he plans to throw a “sympathy vote” to whoever is being targeted. So, if it looks like Christian is going home, Xavier will vote for Sarah Beth and if it looks like Sarah Beth is going home, Xavier will vote for Christian.

In other words, Christian right now has maybe three people willing to vote to keep him — Alyssa, Brittini, and Xavier. That’s nowhere close to enough to stay, especially when both Brittini and Xavier are already looking for excuses to go back on their word.

Things can change but right now, things aren’t looking good for Christian.

Big Brother 23 — Week 5 Veto Meeting

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 9, 2021

So, as expected, Brittini used the veto on herself this afternoon. There was never any question that she was going to do that. The only question was who Derek X was going to be put as a replacement.

Before the veto meeting, Alyssa spent a long time in the HoH room, literally begging Derek X not to put Christian up as a replacement nominee. She argued that Derek F, would be a better replacement and that Christian has kept Derek X safe during his HoH reign. It didn’t do any good good, though. After Brittini took herself off the block, Derek X nominated Christian.

And it does appear that Christian will be going home. Originally, Tiffany and Derek F. were talking about flipping the vote and going after Sarah Beth but Tiffany has apparently decided that this is not the week to do that. This is the week to give the HoH what he wants. Her logic on that is sound — Christian is a much bigger threat than Sarah Beth. Still, for those of us who were hoping for a close vote on Thursday, it’s not happening this week!

As for now, Christian is on the block and it looks like he’s going on Thursday. He’s not happy about it so we might get a blow-up or two before the vote arrives. We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 23 — Veto Update

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 8, 2021

Okay, let’s get everything updated!

Now, when last I posted, Derek X has just nominated Sarah Beth and Brittini for eviction, with his plan being to use the veto to backdoor Christian.

Yesterday, the houseguests competed for the veto. It was the competition where everyone got a prize and then they could switch prizes with the other houseguests. Sarah Beth ended up with choosing to take the cash prize rather than the veto. Though Derek X and the members of the Cookout have all been talking about how stupid it was for Sarah Beth to do that, Sarah Beth’s logic was that, if she picked the veto, someone else would just take it from her and this way, she was guaranteed to at least have some sort of reward for her time in the House. Also, her birthday is on Thursday (which is also eviction night) and she didn’t want to run the risk of getting a punishment and having to leave the house in a stupid costume on her birthday. I really can’t blame her.

Instead, Brittini ended up winning the veto! Needless to say, Brittini is going to use the veto to take herself off the block, which will give Derek X his chance to put Christian up as a replacement nominee. His plan is to get Christian out of the House and, as he’s told Hannah, it better work because Christian will definitely be coming for revenge if he somehow survives the vote.

However, Derek X’s could be in trouble because Tiffany and Derek F. have both decided that Sarah Beth is too close to Kyland and they would rather vote her out. If they can convince the other members of the Cookout to go against the HoH’s wishes, that could be trouble for Sarah Beth.

Tiffany has had it out for Sarah Beth since the season began, saying that she finds Sarah Beth to be fake. Before the veto, she even told Derek F. that she thinks that Sarah Beth is lying about being a members of the LGBT community and that Sarah Beth’s girlfriend, Shelley, doesn’t actually exist. (For the record, Shelley does exist.) Tiffany went on to spin a wild theory that Sarah Beth and Kyland know each other outside of the house and that the only reason why Sarah Beth keeps saying that she wants to make it to jury is because Kyland and Sarah Beth are a part of team twist and will get a special cash bonus is they both make it through the first half of the game. None of this is true but Tiffany is convinced that it is and Derek F., unless he’s a very good actor and was just humoring her, seems to agree.

So, Sarah Beth might be in some trouble this week. And that’s unfortunate because Sarah Beth is one of the more interesting people in the House.

The veto meeting is tomorrow! We’ll see what happens!

P.S. The sinus infection that knocked me out over the past week seems to be pretty much over so, this upcoming week, regular posting should resume!

Big Brother 23 — Week 5 Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 6, 2021

Hi, everyone!

Again, I hope you will accept my apologies. Under normal circumstances, being sick sucks. Being sick during Big Brother sucks even more! Fortunately, I’m on the mend so next week, posting should be back to normal.

So, just to get everything updated.

On Thursday, Whitney was voted out. It was a unanimous vote. Julie announced to the houseguests that the team twist was over and that everyone was now playing as an individual. That meant no more immunity and no more wild card comps.

The HoH comp was the first endurance competition of the season and Derek X won. Derek X is now HoH.

For some reason, Derek X is obsessed with getting out a member of the Kings team. They were the only team to not lose anyone during the previous four weeks and Derek X’s mantra has been that a king has to go. But why? The team twist is over! No one was taking the team twist that seriously to begin with. Derek X’s logic escapes me.

Derek X spent a lot of time today talking to people about who he should nominate. He really overthought things. In fact, he ran through so many scenarios that I’m not really sure what the ultimate plan is. But, when it came time to make his nominations, he put up:

Sarah Beth

and

Brittini

This is Brittini’s third time on the block and once again, she’d been assured that she’s just a pawn. In fact, Derek X assured her that they’re going to make Sarah Beth so sure that Brittini is leaving that Sarah Beth won’t campaign. Basically, it’s the same thing they did to Brent but Sarah Beth isn’t an idiot and it’s not like she’s not going to remember the exact same thing happening two weeks ago!

However, Derek X has also said that he wants to get Christian out of the house so this could actually all just be a plot to backdoor Christian. I can understand the logic of backdooring Christian as the man has proven himself to be a veto beast. Christian, for his part, is pretty sure that this is all a plot to backdoor him so he’ll definitely be looking to play in the veto and keep himself safe.

The veto’s tomorrow! We’ll see what happen!
