Big Brother 22 — Week 5 Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 4, 2020

Hi, everyone!

We’re still waiting for the nomination ceremony to begin. It might be really late tonight but it’s already pretty clear who Christmas is going to be nominating so I’m going to go ahead and do today’s post.

(UPDATE: While I was writing this post, the ceremony happened. Christmas nominated Da’Vonne and Bayliegh.)

As of right now, it seems to be pretty clear that Christmas is planning on putting Da’Vonne and Bayleigh up on the block. Apparently, Bayleigh and Dani got into a huge argument after the HoH comp (while the feeds were down) and now everyone says they’re feeling threatened. I’m not sure who the main target is going to be. I thought it would be Da’Vonne but Tyler still has some issues with Bayleigh from the first time that they played Big Brother so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him pushing the target over in her direction.

Christmas is HoH and she’s definitely got HoHitis. She’s walking around in the HoH robe. She’s wearing sunglasses in doors. She’s bragging about how she’s the first female HoH on the season, even though she didn’t really do anything to win HoH. It was just handed to her because Memphis and Da’Vonne both got a question wrong. People have been going up to her HoH room and telling her how brilliant her eviction speech was. Christmas is upset because she feels that Kaysar tried to steal her moment in the spotlight. She told David that her eviction speech was her way of auditioning for Julie Chen Moonves’s job whenever Julie retires. That’s right — Christmas wants to be the new host of Big Brother.

They did do the Basement Competition earlier today. That was the new twist that Julie talked about last night. Basically, it sounds like they all went into the basement and searched in the dark until they found one of three powers. I’m not sure if they were all down there at the same time or not.

Three houseguests now have special powers. We know about two of them:

Dani told Nicole F. that she won the power to compete in back-to-back HoH comps, even if she’s the outgoing HoH. So, if Dani wins HoH next week, she’ll be able to compete again. Dani told the Nicole that the power is “trash” because Dani doesn’t want to be HoH, yet.

Christmas told Tyler that she got the Blocker, which gives her the power to prevent a specific HG of her choosing from being use as a replacement nominee at the veto ceremony.

We still don’t know who has the third power. Christmas and Enzo think that Kevin might have it because Kevin has been acting calmer than usual.

The nomination ceremony should be sometime tonight. The nominees names will be posted in the comments but right now, it appears to be about a 99% certainty that it will be Da’Vonne and Bayleigh.

And, as I was typing that sentence, the feeds came back and Christmas has indeed nominated Da’Vonne and Bayleigh for eviction.

Big Brother 22 — Week 4 Eviction Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 3, 2020

Hi, everyone!

So, the usual rules apply. If you haven’t watched Thursday’s eviction episode and you don’t know want to know who was voted out, stop reading now. Really, you should have stopped reading as soon as you saw the title of this post but, just in case that wasn’t enough of a warning, here is your final spoiler alert!

So, tonight, to the shock of no one, Kaysar was voted out. Despite the fact that everyone told him that they didn’t want him to leave the House and that they were hoping he would blow up everyone’s alliances, Kaysar was evicted by a vote of 10-0. That makes him the first unanimous evictee of the season.

Kaysar, however, did go out swinging. After Christmas gave a cringey eviction speech in which she told everyone to “go the HoH way,” Kaysar said the following in his speech:

“When it comes to gameplay and strategy, I think you guys all suck. Cody and Nicole have been running this house since Day 1. They have a secret alliance that’s going to take them to the end …. The guys have an alliance. Enzo, I already knew. The last alliance, Dani, Nicole and Cody. No one is willing to take a shot.”

Needless to say, neither Dani nor Nicole were happy about Kaysar’s speech. When Dani cast her vote to evict him, she told Julie that she had never said one word against Kaysar, which we all know is a lie. Nicole, meanwhile, looked ever more shell-shocked than usual.

So, just as he promised, Kaysar called out all of the alliances before he left the House. Unfortunately, it might not make much of a difference because the HoH comp was won by Christmas.

It was an elimination comp, the type where two houseguests face off and answer a question. The first person to ring in with the correct answer would move on while the other person would be eliminated. Da’Vonne came very close to winning. She made it all the way to final round, as a result of always ringing in first and always having the right answer.

Christmas, on the other hand, made it to the final round because Memphis rang in before her and gave the wrong answer when they faced off. And then, when Da’Vonne and Christmas faced off …. the same thing happened again! Da’Vonne buzzed in first but she had the wrong answer. Despite not buzzing in once during the HoH comp, Christmas won and is now HoH!

So, what is Christmas going to do? Probably whatever Enzo, Cody, and Memphis tell her to do. You have to remember that Christmas volunteered to go up as a nominee, specifically because of how much she trusts Enzo. During her speech tonight, she said the houseguests needed to go the “hoh way.” Christmas still thinks Big Brother is a team sport and her team wants to evict Da’Vonne.

So, I imagine that Da’Vonne will probably find herself on the block this week. There’s a chance that Enzo and Cody might decide to get rid of Dani instead (as they both view Dani as being someone who can’t be trusted not to betray her alliances) but I think they view Da’Vonne as a bigger threat. We’ll find out for sure tomorrow when Christmas makes her nominations.

Until then,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 22 — Messages From Outside

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 1, 2020

Hi, everyone!

From the very first season of this show, viewers have tried to get messages to the houseguests. In the early seasons, it was a common occurrence for someone to hire a banner plane to fly over the House with a message about who was betraying who or which houseguest was not as popular as everyone in the House that they were. More recently, people have been sneaking up to the Big Brother house and shouting at whoever is in the backyard.

Usually, these messages don’t amount too much. Productions always puts the houseguests on lockdown and, most of the time, it’s impossible for the houseguests to clearly make out what was being yelled.

However, two days ago, someone got a bullhorn and managed to sneak up to the Big Brother House. They yelled, “Nicole and Cody are playing you!” Though the house was immediately put into lockdown and the backyard was closed, Christmas, Memphis, and Kaysar were all outside when the yelling started and, for once, they actually hear what was said.

As a result, the entire house is now a bit more paranoid than they were just two days ago. Everyone was expecting this to be an easy week but, as a result of the yeller, everyone now realizes that, once they vote out Kaysar, they’re going to have to start turning on each other. Ever since the yelling incident, both Cody and Nicole have both been in an even worse mood than usual. They know that they now have targets on their back.

Dani, who I still don’t think realizes just how close she came to being nominated yesterday, is trying to use the house’s general paranoia to her advantage by targeting Da’Vonne and Bayleigh. Earlier tonight, Dani told Cody that Da’Vonne and Bayleigh are probably going to reveal the existence of the Slick Six to whoever the next HoH is. Dani also told Cody that Bayleigh is coming after him and Nicole if she wins HoH.

Nicole, meanwhile, just told Ian that she heard that Bayleigh is planning on nominating Nicole and Ian if Bayleigh wins HoH. This is something that was actually mentioned last week at a meeting of the Slick Six. Da’Vonne said that she wouldn’t feel comfortable nominating Nicole because of their history from Big Brother 18. Bayleigh then said that she would do it. Nicole was not in the room when that was said but you know who was? Dani. Considering how much time Nicole and Dani spend hanging out with each other at the house, it seems probable that it was Dani who told Nicole about what was said.

So, what happens after Kaysar is voted out on Thursday? Do Bayleigh and Da’Vonne become the new targets or do Nicole and Cody finally get targeted? Or does Dani get nominated, as she nearly did on Monday. It all depends on who wins HoH.

As always, we’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 22 — Week 4 Veto Ceremony Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 31, 2020

Remember the Big Brother slogan — “Expect the unexpected?”

Well, so far, we really haven’t had much reason to do that this season. The first three weeks have pretty much been all about expecting the expected. Briefly, however, it looked like the unexpected might happen today.

When last I posted, Christmas had volunteered to go up on the block as a replacement nominee and Enzo thought he would be free from having to make any difficult decisions this week.

However, shortly after Enzo talked to Christmas, he talked to Cody and Tyler and all three of them realized that they don’t trust Dani. They feel that Dani has been running around the House, trying to make deals with everyone and they also think that Dani is the most likely to betray the three of them in the future. They also decided that Dani is an instigator, the type who creates drama in the House by talking about people behind their backs and who then expects the HoH to do her dirty work for her. Briefly, it looked as if Dani might go up as the replacement nominee and then she would have been backdoored on Thursday.

However, in the end, Enzo decided to go with his original plan. While he, Tyler, and Cody agree that Dani is going to have to go soon, they decided not to go after her this week. Instead, when Kevin used the veto on himself, Christmas was nominated as the replacement.

It really doesn’t make much sense to me, though. How much of a threat is Kaysar at this point? He only had one ally and she was voted out last week. His social game is not particularly strong and he usually gets too angry and loses focus during competitions. Dani is a much bigger threat than Kaysar but going after Dani would create drama in the House and no one seems to have the courage to do that.

So, sorry, everyone — expect the expected. Christmas and Kaysar are on the block and Kaysar is still the target. Since Christmas has been playing a fairly good social game and hasn’t made any enemies, it’s doubtful that the House will choose to backdoor her. If I was Kaysar, I would argue that the fact that Christmas is so liked makes her a threat but I don’t think any of the other houseguests are capable of thinking that strategically.

Well, hopefully, something unexpected will happen soon! For the first few weeks, everyone has been focused on getting rid of Kaysar and Janelle. If Kaysar leaves on Thursday, that means the remaining houseguests are going to have to finally start focusing on going after each other.

Big Brother 22 — What To Expect At Tomorrow’s Veto Ceremony

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 30, 2020

Hi, everyone!

So, here’s the situation in the House, for those who need to be reminded:

Enzo is the HoH.

Kaysar and Kevin are the nominees. Ezno’s target is Kaysar and Kevin was put up as a pawn.

At the veto competition, Kevin won the veto. Kevin’s not stupid. Even though he’s only been nominated as a pawn, he’s not going to run the risk of staying on the block and having something weird happen. He’s going to use the veto tomorrow.

That means that, for the first time this season, the HoH is going to have to pick a replacement nominee. This is where things get tricky because, after he won HoH, Enzo promised almost everyone in the House that he wouldn’t nominate them if the veto was used. Plus, Enzo is in so many alliances that it seemed like it would be impossible for him not to be forced to pick one of his allies. Even if Kaysar is voted out on Thursday, whoever Enzo uses as a replacement nominee will probably feel betrayed.

Just as it looked like things could get interesting as far as Enzo’s decisions were concerned, Christmas showed up to provide an easy solution. Earlier today, she approached Enzo and — get this — she volunteered to go on the block!

And, as of right now, Enzo is planning on taking her up on it.

What is Christmas thinking!? Christmas told Enzo that she views it as “taking one for the team,” but Big Brother is not a team sport …. except, of course, it kind of was the last time that Christmas played. Remember, during Big Brother 19, everyone did what Paul said. People threw HoH comps because Paul told them to. One person won a veto and did not use it on themselves because Paul assured them that they would be safe. Everyone was on Paul’s team in Big Brother 19 and it’s clear that Christmas still has’t learned that her season was not a typical Big Brother season.

Christmas is obviously confident that Kaysar is the target and that she won’t be voted out on Thursday. She’s probably right but still, I’d love to see an upset happen. I mean, to me, there’s just something insulting about volunteering to be nominated. The whole point of the game is to not be nominated. If Christmas’s act of hubris led to her getting voted out, it would be a classic Big Brother moment.

It probably won’t happen, of course. But still, one can hope.

Big Brother 22 — Week 4 Veto Comp Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 30, 2020

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the late update but, so far this season, Big Brother has been holding off on doing comps until really late in the day. I’m guessing that’s because of the heat in California. They don’t want people outside competing in anything strenuous until the temperature goes down a bit. I can understand that.

The veto comp was today. The players were HoH Enzo, nominees Kaysar and Keven, and then Tyler, David, and Bayleigh. Much like Thursday’s HoH comp, this was a comp that Kaysar had to win to avoid going home next Thursday.

So, of course, Kaysar didn’t win. I can’t remember if Kaysar has always been this bad at competitions or if this is a recent development. That’s not meant to be a knock on Kaysar or anything. It’s just that there’s a lot of difference between competing in something like this when you’re 24 and when you’re 40.

Who did win veto?

Kevin.

Yes, Kevin finally won something. I’m a little bit surprised, though I know Kevin was something of a challenge beast the last time he played. But, as with Kaysar, that was over a decade ago.

So, now, Kevin is going to take himself off the block and Enzo is going to have to pick a replacement. This could be tricky for Enzo because, before nominations, he promised almost everyone in the House that he wouldn’t put them up as replacement. I imagine the replacement nominee will be Ian but Kaysar remains the target.

Sunday, we should get to see the HoH competition that brought Enzo to power. So, we’ll see if Kaysar came close to actually winning HoH. This would be a far different week and season if he had. Instead, it looks like Kaysar’s going to be voted out and then maybe the other people in the House will finally wake up and start to play the game. If Bayleigh, Da’Vonne, Ian, and some of the others don’t start making some big moves soon, Tyler, Enzo, Memphis, and Cody are basically going to walk all over everyone on their way to the finale.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 22 — Week 4 Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 28, 2020

Hi, everyone!

So, last night, the feeds finally came back and it was revealed that Enzo won HoH. While it seems pretty clear that Kaysar did advance to at least the 2nd round in the competition, I don’t know how well he did overall or how close he came to winning HoH. We’ll find out on Sunday when CBS airs the HoH competition.

Kaysar really needed to win this HoH because, with Janelle gone, everyone in the House is gunning for him. Despite all of Enzo’s talk about how, if he won HoH, he would do what was best for his game and maybe try to backdoor a past winner like Nicole F or Ian, Enzo instead decided to go with the House and target Kaysar.

That Kaysar was going to be nominated was a foregone conclusion. The only real question was who Enzo would select to sit next to him on the block. Last night and earlier today, Enzo said that he was torn between nomination either Kevin or David as a pawn.

Well, they just had the nominations meeting and our nominees for Week 4 are….

KAYSAR AND KEVIN

If the veto’s used, Enzo has told Cody that he would probably nominate either David or Ian as a replacement. (If Ian goes up as a replacement nominee, he could be in trouble because a lot of people in the House — particularly Cody, Memphis, Christmas, and Dani — have said that they don’t trust him.) For now, though, Kaysar is the target.

As for those two “mystery” votes that were cast to keep Janelle, the viewers at home know that those votes were cast by Dani and Enzo. However, Dani is currently telling everyone in the house that they were cast by Bayleigh and Da’Vonne.

So, to recap: Enzo is HoH, Kevin and Kaysar are on the block, and Kaysar’s the target.

Big Brother 22 — Tonight’s Eviction

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 27, 2020

Hi, everyone!

So, obviously, this post is going to be a spoiler. If you haven’t seen tonight’s eviction episode and you don’t want to know who got voted out, stop reading now. As I sit here typing this, tonight’s show has yet to air on the West Coast and I believe it’s going to be preempted tonight. So, again — if you don’t know who has been evicted and you want to experience it without spoilers, stop reading this post!

Okay?

Okay. So, tonight, to no one’s surprise, Janelle was voted out. The final vote was 9-2. Everyone voted to evict Janelle except for Dani and Enzo. Enzo likes to toss around random votes to keep people off-balance. Dani mentioned to Cody earlier today that she might vote for Janelle and then try to frame the vote on either Da’Vonne or Bayleigh. So, I guess that’s the plan.

Dani did her best to try to convince everyone to leave “mean goodbye messages” for Janelle. Nicole did make it a point to tell Janelle not to come to her wedding in her message. It was pretty weak and it made me lose some respect for Nicole. (To be honest, I’ve been losing respect for Nicole ever since this season started.) When she was talking to Dani, Nicole made it sound like she left this big, tough message but instead, she came across as if she was scared of Janelle (which she was).

Julie told Janelle who voted to keep her and also revealed the existence of the Slick Six during the exit interview, which means that no pre-jury evictees will be returning to the game. So, tonight was pretty much it for Janelle.

When the show ended, they had just started the HoH comp. The feeds are currently down and I imagine they will be down until after the West Coast airing so it’s probably going to be a while before we know who the new HoH is. Kaysar needs to win this HoH or else he’s going to be in trouble this upcoming week.

When we have confirmation of a new HoH, I’ll post it in the comments!
