Big Brother 22 — Week 2 Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 14, 2020

Hi y’all!

So, as we all saw last night, Memphis won HoH. His original plan was to target Ian for eviction with either David or Nicole A as a pawn. However, earlier today, Christmas won the Safety Suite and she picked Ian to be safe alongside her!

(Why did Christmas pick Ian? I’m not sure. Nicole F. has been complaining about Memphis targeting Ian when there’s other targets in the House — like Janelle, who Nicole F. has a somewhat obsessive hatred for — so there’s some speculation that Nicole F. may have talked to Christmas. We’ll find out for sure on Sunday!)

What’s also interesting is that a lot of people played for the Safety Suite this week: Da’Vonne, Bayleigh, Kevin, David, Christmas, Ian and Cody all played. That shows that no one is really sure where Memphis’s mind is at.

Anyway, Christmas and Ian are now safe for the week and Ian has to wear a dog costume as punishment. As for Memphis, he had to change his plans and, as a result, he nominated:

DAVID and NICOLE ANTHONY!

Which, to be honest, seems like a waste of an HoH to me. Neither one of those two are really a threat in any way. David is apparently Memphis’s target. I feel bad for him but hopefully, he’ll fight for the veto and actually campaign to stay in the House this time.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 22 — Week 1 Eviction Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 13, 2020

Hi y’all!

Okay, so before anything else, let me give you a SPOILER WARNING! If you haven’t seen tonight’s show yet and you don’t want to know the identity of who the first evictee and the second HoH, stop reading now!

Okay, for those of you who are still here:

The vote was not a shock. I thought that Janelle and Kaysar might at least give Keesha a sympathy vote but even they ultimately decided to play it safe and go with the majority. By a vote of 13-0, Keehsa was voted out of the game.

As I said, it really wasn’t a shock. Keesha really didn’t seem to have her heart in the game this season. Even Kaysar and Janelle got annoyed with her refusal to go to the other HGs and really campaign for herself.

After Keesha left, it was time for the HoH comp. The HoH comp required the HGs to answer questions about some really annoying videos. To the surprise of everyone, Memphis won that competition.

That’s right — MEMPHIS IS THE NEW HOH!

So, who will Memphis nominate? Probably Ian. He considers Ian to be a huge threat because Ian beat Dan in BB14. Memphis couldn’t beat Dan in Big Brother 10 so I think Memphis has gotten it into his head that this means Ian is invincible.

So, with Memphis perhaps targeting Ian, Janelle and Kaysar may be safe this week. It’ll probably depend on whether or not Cody can change Memphis’s mind about who he wants to get out of the house.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 22 — Janelle Is Trying!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 11, 2020

Hi, y’all!

So, right now, Janelle is trying her best to save Keesha. As she was just explaining to Nicole Anthony, she has a feeling that the men are all going to end up joining together (and that Nicole Franzel is going to go along with them) and picking off the women one-by-one. As Janelle explained it, there’s not any chance of any showmances this year so the guys are going to “bro out.”

Janelle’s probably right. Kaysar has shown little interest in working with Cody but Kaysar is playing so aggressively that he’ll be lucky to survive beyond the third week. He’s on almost everyone’s radar right now. So, Janelle wants to vote out Kevin this week and then build up an alliance with Keesha.

As Janelle explained it to Nicole A, all they have to do is convince 7 people to vote against the HoH and keep Keesha. Janelle thinks that she can get Kaysar, Nicole A, Ian, Day’vonne, Baylieigh, and Memphis to join her in voting to keep Keesha.

Nicole A. said that she would consider what Janelle said, which is usually code for “I’ll vote with the majority.” That’s not good news for Keesha. As Janelle and Kaysar are discovering, the game had changed since the last time they played. The tendency now is to go with the majority, vote with the HoH, and not rock the boat. That’s why I think that, despite the fact that Janelle’s making a lot of sense, Keesha is probably still doomed. (It probably doesn’t help that Janelle’s doing all the work and Keesha has barely done any personal campaigning at all.)

In other news: Nicole Franzel had a mini-breakdown last night, out in the backyard. It started because Nicole F. wanted to go to sleep but Janelle kept talking to her. Nicole F. finally left the bedroom, went outside, and started crying to Christmas and Cody that Janelle won’t let her sleep and that Janelle has been refusing to wear her full star costume but that production keeps letting her get away with it. She also said that Nicole A.’s podcasting partner, Eric, hates her and that she’s sure that Nicole A. is plotting against her as a result. It was quite a breakdown and, even though Christmas and Cody seemed to be sympathetic, I don’t know if it’s going to do much to help Nicole F’s game. If anything, it came across as being a bit whiny.

What’s interesting, though, is that Nicole F. also says that she won’t target Janelle if she wins HoH. Nicole’s logic is that the first four evicted houseguests always get a chance to reenter the house and that, if they evict Janelle too soon, America will just vote her back in. Normally, I would agree with Nicole F. but this is season is going to be slightly shorter than previous seasons so I don’t know if anyone’s going to be voted back into the house this year.

Anyway, as of right now, it looks like Keesha is sure to be voted out on Thursday. We’ll see if that changes.

Big Brother 22 — Week 1 Veto Meeting Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 10, 2020

Hi, everyone!

So, earlier today, we had our first veto meeting of the season. Keesha and Kevin are on the block. Enzo won the veto. And, at the meeting …. Enzo decided not to use the veto.

There’s nothing shocking about that. Enzo apparently wasn’t even planning on trying to win the veto until he saw how badly Cody was doing during the competition. From the minute Enzo put on the veto necklace, he’s been saying that he wasn’t going to use it and he didn’t.

So, who is going home this week?

Right now, it seems like it will be Keesha. She was Cody’s target to begin with and the majority of the people in the House are people who played on seasons when the HoH pretty much got whatever they wanted. I could see Kaysar and Janelle voting for Kevin because they played Big Brother back before it became normal for the House to vote unanimously. But the players from the more recent seasons will probably just go along with the majority.

Oddly, I really haven’t seen either Keesha or Kevin really campaigning that hard to stay. Kevin’s been crying a lot but somehow, he’s also gotten it into his head that Janelle is the one who convinced Cody to nominate him. In fact, Kevin says that, if he wins the next HoH, that he’s going to nominate Kaysar and Janelle!

Now that the veto ceremony is over with, maybe Keesha will finally try to make a deal to stay in the House. Even if she is the target, Kevin’s not exactly popular with the other houseguests and it’s still easy to imagine the target getting moved off of Kevin and onto Keesha. (Kevin also apparently came very close to winning the veto, showing that he’s more of a challenge threat than I think some of the younger players expected him to be.) We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 22 — Week 1 Veto Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 9, 2020

Last night, the houseguests payed in the first veto of season 22. Playing for the veto were Cody, Kevin, Keesha and Tyler, Ian, and Enzo. All three of the “picked” players said they were planning on throwing the comp and yet, somehow, Enzo ended up winning the veto!

How did Enzo go from throwing the veto to winning it? It’s hard to say because they didn’t show the veto on the live feeds. However, last night, Cody sat in the HoH room and delivered a monologue just for the people watching the feeds, telling us about his feeling about the game. Cody said that he “sucked” at the veto comp so I’m going to assume that Cody was doing badly enough that Enzo had to actually step up and win the veto in order to keep the nomination the same. Because Enzo is allied with Cody, there’s little chance of him using the veto and, in all probability, Keesha will be leaving the house next week.

Among the other things that Cody told us:

  1. Cody knows that he’s going to have a huge target on his back when his HoH ends.
  2. Among his allies, he trusts Dani and Enzo the most.
  3. Despite being allied with them, he does not trust either Tyler or Nicole F.
  4. He finds Ian to be the most intimidating of the houseguests. Cody also has a final two deal with Ian.
  5. Cody is sure that, if Kaysar wins HoH, Kaysar will come after him.

In other news, Ian spent most of yesterday feeling seriously ill. The fact that he’s a Have-Not and he’s only eating Big Brother slop is definitely not helping him out as far as that goes.

Bayleigh and Da’Vonne have been flying under the radar and have a final two deal.

Kaysar is still playing hard and strategizing hard but even some of his closest allies — like Janelle and Keesha — are now saying that he’s overdoing it and that he needs to step back and lay low before he gets an even bigger target on his back.

The live feeds have been pretty good this week! If you still haven’t gotten them, would you consider getting them through this blog? Just click on the Big Brother banners on this blog and sign up. Doing so helps Bill to pay the bills for this site (not to mention me!)

As for tonight, Big Brother will be airing at 10 pm et. (It’s starting later than usual because of the 2020 PGA championship, which will be airing before it.) Tonight, we should get to see the Safety Suite comp and the nomination ceremony!

Big Brother 22 — Week 1 Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 8, 2020

Hi y’all!

So, yesterday, Cody made the first nominations of Week 1. Just as he said he was going to do, he nominated Kevin and Keesha. He did this despite the fact that, just hours before the nomination ceremony, Kevin approached him and had a very emotional discussion with him about feeling like an outsider and promising that he wouldn’t come after Cody.

So, as of right now, Kevin and Keesha are on the block. Keesha is Cody’s target, largely because 1) he doesn’t feel like he knows Keesha and 2) he feels that he can bring Memphis into his alliance once Keesha is gone. The veto comp is later today so we’ll see if that changes anything.

After the first few days of the season, I’d have to say that Kaysar probably has the best view of the house. He’s playing to win it this season and, in his discussions with Janelle, he’s been strategizing long term. Whereas Cody, Nicole, and Tyler seem to be planning on playing week-to-week and making alliances with whoever happened to be HoH at the time, Kaysar is already thinking about what he wants to happens during the 4th week of the season. Kaysar is playing a strategic game whereas the newer players like Cody and Tyler are playing social games.

It’ll be interesting to see which approach works. When Big Brother first started, the most strategic houseguest usually won. Even if the jury was bitter, they usually voted for the HG who played the best game. For instance, Evel Dick won despite being hated by most of the jury. Why? They knew he played the best game. However, all that changed when, at the end of Big Brother 14, Ian beat Dan. Ever since BB 14, juries have tended to vote with their emotions. As a result, jury management and dealing with hurt feelings has become a lot more important.

Personally, Kaysar will either make it to the final two or he’ll be voted out pre-jury. He’s smart but he’s definitely playing hard and I think, unless he gets lucky with some HoHs and some veto wins, he’s going to have a huge target on his back almost every week of the game.

Anyway, the veto should be today so we’ll see if either Keesha or Kevin can save themselves this week!

Big Brother 22 — Nominations Later Today

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 7, 2020

Hi, everyone!

Our HoH, Cody, is currently working closely with Nicole Franzel and Tyler and practically everyone in the House knows it. If Nicole F. thought this would be another season where she would be able to lay low and stay under the radar until the final few weeks, she was wrong. Meanwhile, Tyler has been making final two deals all over the place — at last count, he had final two deals with David, Bayleigh, Nicole, and Cody.

Cody will be announcing his nominations today. Up until yesterday, he was planning on nominating Janelle and Kaysar for eviction. However, thanks to the Safety Suite Competition (which we’ll see on Sunday), both Janelle and Kaysar are now safe!

They didn’t show the Safety Suite Comp on the feeds, just the aftermath. Here’s what I’ve been able to piece together from what the HGs have been saying: Everyone in the house was given a key to the Safety Suite. That key is only good for one use. After you use the key and play in the comp, you can never play in it again. This week, both Janelle and Keesha chose to play. If you win the Safety Suite Comp, you’re safe and you also choose one other person to be safe with you. Janelle won and picked Kaysar. By doing so, she confirmed that she and Kaysar are working together — as Cody suspected — but she also won them a week of safety. In theory, Kaysar could win next week and give safety to Janelle, which would give them two weeks of safety which they both definitely need right now.

With Kaysar and Janelle safe, Cody decided that he would instead nominate Keesha and Kevin. Keesha is his target while Kevin is mostly just a pawn. Cody feels that he can’t get a read on what Keesha is thinking.

Here’s how the house is currently divided:

Group One: Kaysar, Janelle, Memphis, Keesha, Nicole A., and Ian

Group Two: Cody, Tyler, Nicole F, Christmas, Dani, Enzo, and David

In the Middle: Kevin, Da’Vonne, Bayleigh

And now, we’re just waiting for the nomination ceremony!

Big Brother 22 — Welcome To A New Season of Brother!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 6, 2020

Hi y’all!

So, welcome to a new season of Big Brother! I honestly didn’t think that it was going to happen this month but apparently it is. And it’s going to be a full season, with 16 returning all-stars. Last night, Tyler was speculating that the season was going to end some time in October.

Yes, Tyler is back. He was among the 16 former houseguests who moved into the house last night. Julie Chen described them as being some of the best players who ever played the game. I don’t know if I totally agree with her on that. At least a few of the HGs — Christmas, Bayleigh, and Cody — were actually pretty lousy at the game and only survived for as long as they did because they were considered to be a good lackey by their season’s eventual winner. Still, I guess it’s understandable. This season, production had to put things together in a hurry and they had to find people willing to take the risks associated with being in a closed space with people for three months. I don’t know if it’s so much All-Stars as Popular Players We Could Get On Short Notice.

Here are the BB22 houseguests:

  1. Nicole Franzel
  2. Danielle Donato
  3. Da’Vonne Rogers
  4. Christmas Abbott
  5. Tyler Crispen
  6. Ian Terry
  7. Kevin
  8. Enzo
  9. Janelle
  10. Bayleigh
  11. Nicole Anthony
  12. Keesha
  13. Kaysar
  14. Cody
  15. Memphis
  16. David

Those 16 not only moved in last night but they also competed for HoH. Cody rather easily won the HoH comp and he’ll now be in charge of making the first nominations of the summer. It’ll be interesting to see what Cody does because he doesn’t have any obvious allies in the House (he’s the only person from his season playing) and, during his previous time on Big Brother, he always just did whatever Derrick told him to do.

After the HoH comp, the HGs spent the night catching up with each other. I didn’t really hear a whole lot of strategy talk. This is an older group and, to be honest, it was a pretty laid back night.

Memphis did tell Kevin and the two Nicoles that Keesha still hates him because of his decision to evict her during their season. So, Memphis undoubtedly will be pushing for Keesha to be nominated. (Or maybe not. There’s some speculation online that Memphis and Keesha are actually working together and Memphis pushed the narrative of Keesha hating him so hard because he didn’t want the other HGs to realize it.) However, from what I could see, it appeared that Cody was mostly bonding with Tyler. The two of them seem to have really hit it off.

Nominations might be today so, if they are, we’ll see who Cody picks. Right now, I’m not really sure how he’s going to go. I would nominate Janelle and Kaysar, despite the fact that I like them both. But Janelle and Kaysar have a strong bond outside the game (Janelle has said that, outside the house, she still talks to Kaysar nearly every day) so I would want to separate the two of them. But I don’t know if Cody knows how close they are. So, I have a feeling that Cody will nominate whoever Tyler pushes. It’s hard to know at this point.

We’ll see what happens later today!
