Big Brother 21: Is This Season 19 All Over Again?

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 7, 2019

Hi, everyone!

Today, I looked over the current season of Big Brother 21, I couldn’t help but start to think about season 19. There’s so much about BB21 that reminds me of that misbegotten season.

Consider:

Once again, you have a beareded bully running the house. Just as with Paul, everyone agrees that Jack is a threat to their game but no one seems to be willing to do anything about it.

Once again, you have a host of problematic comments and bad behavior. On BB19, you had Paul ordering people to shun Cody and Jessica. On BB21, you’ve got Jack ordering people not to talk to Ovi and David. On BB19, you had Paul accused of being racially insensitive. On BB21, you’ve got Jack walking around like a monkey and then saying that he was imitating David.

And, once again, we’ve got showmances. BB19 was a season of showmances and BB21 is shaping up the same way. The least likable people in the House are falling for each other. As we saw on tonight’s episode, Jackson and Kathryn had a thing early on in the season but Jackson has now moved onto Holly Meanwhile, Nick and Bella are the 2nd showmance. And finally, Jack and Analyse are now an item and have been “enjoying” the HoH room since at least last night.

The other big similarity between this season and season 19 is that, despite how much the viewers dislike him, Jack keeps winning stuff. Not only is he HoH but, as we saw tonight, he won the second Whacktivity comp. Fortunately, the Chaos Power is nothing special. Apparently, he can use it to force the HoH and one of the nominees to do a redraw during the veto player selection. I mean, compared to what Ovi had with the Nightmare Power, that’s nothing.

The other big news today is that Sam got news that his grandfather had died. While he broke down a cried in the living room, everybody in the House comforted him. Sam’s really upset about it and says that he had a feeling that his grandfather was going to die ever since the season began. Because he’s in the House, Sam won’t even be able to attend the funeral.

As for who is going to be sent to camp comeback on Wednesday, it’ll probably be Kemi but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the target shift over to Jessica. The men in the House are extremely paranoid about the prospect of an all-girl’s alliance forming. That said, Jack has been talking about getting Kemi out for two weeks now and with him as HoH and with Sam unlikely to use the veto, it seems like this is going to be the week that Jack gets his wish.

We’ll see what happens! The veto meeting is tomorrow.

Week 2 Veto Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 6, 2019

Hi, everyone!

Just a quick update. They played for the veto today. The competitors were Jack, Jessica, Kemi, Jackson, Sam, and Bella. What’s weird is that Jessica got houseguest’s choice and, for some reason, she picked Jackson. Did she really think there was a chance that Jackson would use the veto and run the risk of alienating his biggest ally in the House?

Well, it doesn’t matter. For the second week in a row, Sam won the veto. In fact, from what they’re saying in the House, it sounds like Sam won not only the veto but a trip to Fiji as well. It’s rare that anyone walks out of the veto comp with two prizes.

Anyway, Sam has already told almost anyone who will listen that he’s not planning on using the veto this week. So, Kemi will probably be getting voted out and sent to Camp Comeback. The only thing that could save her would be Jessica getting on everyone’s nerves and actually, that could very well happen. Jessica’s been crying nonstop and Nicole and Kathryn were talking earlier about how strange it was that Jessica, with all of her talk of girl power, picked Jackson to play in the veto.

But, as of right now, it looks like Kemi’s in trouble. Things could change but Jack is pretty determined to get her out of the game this week.

Big Brother 21 — Week Two Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 5, 2019

Okay, it seemed like it took them all day to get to it but the Big Brother houseguests finally held the Week 2 Nomination ceremony and …. well, let’s just say that no one’s going to be shocked.

Jack spent all of last week trying to backdoor Kemi so the fact that he, as HoH, would target her is not surprising. He put Kemi up for nomination and beside her, he put Jessica. Why Jessica? Because Jessica’s been talking up an all-girls alliance ever since the season began and Bella (as I predicted she would) ratted out the Black Widows alliance to Jack. Jack definitely wants Jessica out but, for this week, Kemi is his target. Jack did tell Jessica that he would be nominating her. Jessica did not take the news well and has been crying ever since.

If either Jessica or Kemi come off the block, the plan is to use Kathryn as a replacement, which would undoubtedly lead to another Kathryn meltdown.

I know that a lot of viewers were frustrated when Jack won HoH and, so far, Jack has spent this week proving those frustrations to be justified. He’s been just as arrogant and full-of-himself as you would expect him to be in the situation. For whatever reason (and trust me, there’s been a lot of speculation online), Jack has developed an especially strong hatred of David. Earlier today, Jack was watching David on the screen in the HoH bedroom. Jack suddenly jumped up and started walking like a monkey. When Analyse asked him what he was doing, Jack replied that he was imitating David. Between that and him constantly calling Kemi a “bitch” behind her back, I’m more than ready for Jack to exit the house.

Earlier today, they had the 2nd Whacktivity comp. Holly, Jack, Jackson, Sam and Tommy all competed in the comp but, as of yet, we don’t know who won. All five of them have denied being the winner.

So, to recap the situation, as of right now it’s:

HOH: Jack

NOMINEES: Jessica and Kemi

TARGET: Kemi

We’ll see what happens with the veto tomorrow!

Big Brother 21 — About Last Night

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 4, 2019

Hi, everyone! I apologize for the late update. Yesterday, we changed servers so the site was down for a few hours. This new server is faster, which is good. What’s bad is that it’ll probably take another few hours until everyone’s able to access the site. If you’re reading this post, don’t worry, you’re fine!

Anyway, here’s a quick recap of what happened last night:

Basically, because Ovi was dumb enough to tell Jack and Jackson that he had the nightmare power, he was voted out. It was a unanimous vote. Even the people who have been complaining about Jack running the house — people like Nicole, Cliff, Jessica, and Kemi — voted for Ovi.

However, Ovi did not leave the house. Instead, he was sent upstairs to stay in Camp Comeback. Camp Comeback is apparently this year’s version of Survivor’s Edge of Extinction. After getting voted out of the house, evicted HGs don’t leave but instead stay in the season’s version of the Have Not Room. As Julie explained it, neither Ovi nor David (who reentered the house) can compete for HoH or the veto. However, they can continue to play the social game and, after the 4th eviction, all of the evicted houseguests will compete for a chance to reenter the House as a houseguest.

And you should have seen the houseguests after Julie made her announcement! They were all hugging Ovi and David and I was just like, “What a bunch of phonies!”

Anyway, Jack went on to win HoH. When everyone (with the exception of David and Ovi) went to see Jack’s HoH room, they all took a vote and agreed, unanimously, not to “talk game” to either David or Ovi. We’ll see how long that lasts.

Among the BB fandom, Jack is probably the least popular of the current houseguests and a lot of people in the House are kind of sick of him. So, Jack becoming HoH is a worst case scenario for a lot of folks. Ever since Jack become HoH, Analyse and Holly have been talking about Kemi behind her back, saying that Kemi can’t be trusted and has to be voted out. Since Jack wanted to target Kemi last week, this could be a difficult week for her.

I think the nomination ceremony will be today but I’m not sure. They might put it off for a day because it’s the 4th of July. We’ll see!

Big Brother 21: It’s Time To Open Up The Diary Room!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 2, 2019

Hi, everyone!

First off, if you haven’t seen tonight’s episode of Big Brother or if you still don’t know what happened at the first veto meeting of the season, this post will be a spoiler! So, read on at your own risk.

With that out of the way, it’s time to open up the diary room for the first time this season! That’s right — it’s your turn to vote! Things may not be looking for Ovi inside the house but will the same be true here on the blog? Let’s find out!

Who do you vote to evict?

Do you vote for

KATHRYN, who is way too paranoid

or

OVI, who is not paranoid enough?

Cast your vote either in the comments below or in the poll that you’ll find over on the right side of the page! And then be sure to watch on Wednesday to see who will be the first houseguest to be evicted from the House!

Happy voting!

Big Brother 21: Here Come The Black Widows

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 1, 2019

Hi, everyone!

So, last night, we discovered that Ovi did indeed win the “whacktivity” challenge. And, as a result, he got a really cool power that’s not going to be of any help to him in the game. Ovi received the Nightmare Power, which, if used after the nomination ceremony, forces the HoH to pick two entirely new nominees for eviction.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the power only works immediately after the nomination ceremony. It can’t be used to the change the nominees after the veto ceremony. So, unfortunately for Ovi, it’s not going to help him out of his current predicament.

As of right now, it does seem like Ovi is going to be the first HG to be evicted from the house. (Technically, David was the first to go but he was “banished” instead of “evicted.”) He just doesn’t have any close allies and, for some reason, he keeps trying to convince Jack to enter into an alliance with him. Jack, of course, hates Ovi.

The one thing that might save Ovi is that Kathryn is still threatening to self-evict. It’s totally possible to see a situation in which Kathryn annoys everyone to such an extent that they decide to go ahead and vote her out. I don’t think it’s going to happen but it’s still a definite possibility.

(On the plus side, from what Julie said when David was banished, it sounds like the first few banished and evicted houseguests will be given the opportunity to win their way back into the House. So, even if he is voted out, that doesn’t mean Ovi’s game is over.)

In other news, as of last night, we have a new, 4-person alliance! Largely because they’re all sick of Jack running the house, Kemi, Bella, Jessica, and Nicole formed an alliance that they’re calling the Black Widows. They’re plan is to take the boys out, one-by-one. As much as I’d love to see Jack voted out, I’m a little bit skeptical of the Black Widow alliance. I think they’re making a mistake by including Bella because Bella was in the Ocho alliance with Jack and Jackson. So far, Bella hasn’t told any of the boys about the Black Widows but I do get the feeling that, if any of the four are going to be betray this new alliance, it’ll be Bella.

The other big news today is that there’s currently a petition being circulated among Big Brother fans, calling for CBS to kick Jack out of the house. Last night, Jack was hanging out in the HoH room with Jackson, Nick, Chrisite, and Analyse and he was, as usual, talking about how much he hates Kemi. He then said that he wanted to “stomp a mudhole” in Kemi’s chest. Jack was later called to the diary room and, judging from what he’s told Nick today, it sounds like production told him that he needed to tone it down.

And that’s the situation right now. We’ll see the veto comp on tomorrow’s show and then, on Wednesday, either Ovi or Kathryn will be voted out of the house!

Big Brother 21: Veto Ceremony Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 30, 2019

Hi, everyone!

So, this morning, they held the veto meeting. As expected, Sam used the veto and took Cliff off the block.

Up until yesterday, it seemed like Kemi was going to be the replacement nominee. However, last night, Christie changed her mind and decided that she didn’t want to put Kemi up. Christie didn’t want to be seen as just being Jack’s pawn and she also felt that Kemi was someone who she could work with down the road. Christie decided that she’d rather see Kathryn leave the house and she even asked Sam not to use the veto.

Sam, however, said that he had already promised Cliff that he would use the veto and he went on to suggest that Ovi would probably be a safe replacement because Jack doesn’t like Ovi. Christie took Sam’s advice and that’s why Ovi is now on the block.

(Of course, if Christie really wanted to make a big move, she should have just nominated Jack. The only person in the house who wouldn’t be okay with that would have been Jackson. But I guess Christie is worried about nominating a member of her alliance, even though that alliance has already pretty much fallen apart.)

So, now Ovi is on the block. Does that mean that Ovi’s going to be evicted on Wednesday? Not necessarily. While things don’t look good for Ovi right now, Kathryn is not doing herself any favors. She’s been crying ever since she was nominated. Even when told that she’s not target, Kathryn has continued to cry. Lately, Kathryn’s been telling everyone that she just wants to go home. In short, people are getting tired of having to constantly comfort Kathryn and no one views her as being a strong ally.

So, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kathryn gets on everyone’s nerves to the extent that they vote her out instead of Ovi.

We’ll see what happens! Speaking of which, tonight on the CBS show, we’ll find out which HG has won a secret power. Then, on Tuesday, we’ll see the veto comp and the veto ceremony. Then on Wednesday, we’ll have the first live vote of the season!

After that, Big Brother will settle down to its usual schedule — Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

So, to recap, Cliff is now safe and either Ovi or Kathryn will be evicted on Wednesday.

Big Brother 21: A Day For Funerals

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 29, 2019

Hi y’all!

So, I was hoping that we would have the veto ceremony today. Usually, it happens two days after the veto comp but it hasn’t happened yet and it is starting to get rather late in the day. So, I’m going to guess that it will probably happen tomorrow and that will give any potential replacement nominees two days to campaign before the vote on Wednesday.

(This week, they’re doing the eviction a day earlier than usual. I think after this week, they’ll get back on the normal BB schedule, which will be veto comp on Saturday, veto ceremony on Monday, and then the eviction on Thursday.)

So, we haven’t had a veto ceremony but we did have a funeral for one of the fish. It was found dead earlier, floating in the tank. Perhaps it realized that it was going to have to spend the summer with Jack and Jackson and it just decided it wasn’t worth it. All of the houseguests dressed in black and held a ceremony in the living room. Sam said a few words in memory of the deceased fish. It was about as cute as this house is probably going to get this season.

Otherwise, the environment inside the Big Brother House has been toxic. Cliff woke up this morning and did a little monologue for the benefit of the people watching the live feeds. He said that Sam has promised to use the veto on him. For his part, Sam has been saying that he’ll do whatever Christie wants him to do.

So, what does Christie want? Christie seems to have no idea. For someone who runs a successful business and who seemed very confident when she first entered the house, Christie has turned out to be a really disappointed HoH. She was planning on backdooring Kemi, mostly because that’s what Jack and Jackson wanted her to do. But now, she’s been telling Nick, Holly, and almost anyone else who will listen about how much she resents Jack ordering her around and that she doesn’t really view Kemi as a threat. Meanwhile, just about everyone has been agreeing with her that they really can’t stand Jack and that they’d love it if Jack went up as the replacement nominee. (Jackson is also very unpopular but he has immunity this week because he’s camp director.)

Meanwhile, Jack has suddenly decided that Nick — who is a member of his alliance — is a potential threat who needs to be taken out sooner than later. Why is Jack so angry at Nick? Mostly it’s because Jack has a crush on Analyse but Analyse clearly prefers Nick. So, even if he’s not willing to admit it, Jack wants Nick out because he’s sick of seeing Analyse flirting with him.

Jack has turned out to be a real piece of work. Before this season started, everyone online commented on how much Jack looked like the actor Jason Momoa. It turns out that Jack also thinks that he looks like Jason Momoa and is totally conceited about it. It also turns out that he has a real issue with anyone who he believes is out-of-shape. For Jack, that means that he has an issue with everyone in the house, especially Ovi. Jack has been making fun of Ovi’s weight (often to Ovi’s face) ever since the game began.

So, basically, you have both a house and a fandom that would love to see Jack go home this week. However, Christie keeps saying that she’ll probably go ahead and nominate Kemi, just to keep things simple. For her part, Kemi has finally figured out that she’s the target but she doesn’t seem to be sure how to campaign for herself.

So, it’s a mess right now but the one thing that can be said for sure is that Jack has managed, in just a few days, to destroy whatever good will anyone in the house felt for him. He may get what he wants this week but he’s going to be a huge target next week. In fact, today’s funeral probably should have been for Jack’s game.

If they do hold the veto ceremony today, the results will be in the comments below. Otherwise, I expect they’ll do it on Sunday.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 21: Week 1 Veto Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 28, 2019

Hi y’all!

So, I have to admit that I’m a little bit surprised. During previous seasons of Big Brother, the veto has always been played on Saturday and the veto meeting has been held on the following Monday. However, I guess because it’s premiere week, the schedule’s been a bit different for week 1 and they played for the veto yesterday.

Now, for those catching up: Christie is the current HoH and the current nominees are Cliff and Kathryn. However, Jackson and Jack are basically running the house and they’ve decided that Kemi should go this week because, according to them, she spends too much time talking about the game and therefore can’t be trusted. (For Jackson to accuse anyone of playing too hard early on in the game is a joke.) Jackson’s plan is to take out Kemi this week, Jessica next week, and then Ovi during week three.

Of course, the plan to backdoor Kemi hinged on making sure that Kemi did not win the veto. And she didn’t.

Instead, the first veto winner is ….

SAM!

Now, technically, Sam is not a member of the Jackson/Jack/Christie/Bella/Nick/Holly “cool kids” alliance. However, Sam has said that he will do whatever the HoH wants and, if the HoH says to use the veto, he’s going to use it. Sam has said that he’ll probably use the veto on Cliff.

As a result, Kathryn is now feeling very paranoid. Even though she’s been told that Kemi is the target, she’s still concerned that she’s being lied to and she’s been doing a lot of crying. However, she has nothing to be concerned about. Kemi is definitely the target.

However, there is one potential problem with the plan. Before the feeds even went live, the HGs competed in a special comp and one of them won a secret power. They all know that someone has the power but so far, no one has owned up to having it. As well, no one knows what the power is. Could that power save Kemi? We’ll find out for sure when the next episode of Big Brother airs on Sunday!

As of right now, I’m not sure when the veto meeting will be held. Usually, it would be on Monday but they played for the veto so early in the week that it’s hard to say. But, whenever the meeting happens, it appears that Cliff will come down and Kemi will go up.

We’ll see what happens!

Week 1 Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 27, 2019

Hi, everyone! So, the feeds are now live and we’ve gotten a chance to see how everyone is acting around the House and I have to say that right now, it’s very high school. There’s definitely a “cool” group and they’ve decided that they’re going to take out the uncool kids one-by-one. Of course, we’ve seen this before on Big Brother and, inevitably, it always backfires.

Here’s what we saw on the show last night:

After being selected camp director, Jackson nominated Cliff, Jessica, David, and Kemi for banishment. He nominated Cliff, Jessica, and David because they all ran against him for camp director. He nominated Kemi because Kemi didn’t try to talk to him after he won camp director. Jackson doesn’t seem to be very smart. He should have begged for three volunteers and promised to give them anything in return. Then he could have just targeted one person and, as a result, he’d only have one potential enemy in the house instead of three.

Anyway, the banished houseguests had to make their way through a dark maze. Cliff, Jessica, and Kemi made it. David did not. David is out of the house but Julie hinted that he will eventually get a chance to return.

The HoH comp was won by Christie. After winning HoH, Christie formed a 6-person alliance with Jack, Jackson, Bella, Nick, and Holly. (Meanwhile, Christie has a side alliance going with Tommy. Christie and Tommy are keeping it a secret that they know each other outside of the house.)

From what we’ve seen on the live feeds, it’s evident that Christie has nominated Cliff and Kathryn for eviction. However, last night, Jackson was assuring Kathryn that neither she nor Cliff are being targeted. Instead, it appears that the plan is to backdoor Kemi. According to Jackson, nobody in the house like Kemi and they definitely want her gone. Jackson also said that nobody likes Ovi, apparently because he’s too awkward and is trying too hard to fit in.

So, as of right now, the 6-person alliance seems to be in control of the game. However, I could see that changing soon. Neither Jack nor Jackson are being particularly diplomatic about being in the cool kids alliance and I could imagine the rest of the house eventually coming after them with a vengeance.

(By the way, I know that we’re supposed to call Jackson “Michie” now. I’m not going to do it, for the same reason that I refused to call Angie “Rockstar” last season. It’s just stupid.)

I think that the veto comp will be held on Saturday and the veto meeting will be on Monday. That’s the way it’s usually done but the schedule for the first week of Big Brother is always a little bit strange. As of right now, it would appear that Kemi has to win that veto or her days in the Big Brother House are numbered but anything can happen.

We’ll see what happens!
