BB19 — It’s Time To Kick Matt Out

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 29, 2017

Hi y’all!

So, there’s not really anything new to report from the Big Brother House.  Jason’s comments about Kevin’s wife and children were reported on TMZ.  Jason’s family issued an official apology to Kevin’s family and then locked down his twitter account.

Of course, Jason doesn’t know any of that.  He and Alex are still convinced that they’re the most popular people in America.  Earlier today, Jason asked if the cameras were always on, which would seem to indicate that he doesn’t understand how Big Brother works.  (I’ve heard Matt, Christmas, and Alex all make similar comments.)  Alex mentioned at one point that she hopes that she hasn’t ever said anything controversial in the house.  According to her, she can’t really remember everything that she’s said in the house.

Well, in case anyone ever needs a refresher, here’s some other things that Alex has said over the past few days:

  1. She’s going to win Big Brother because she’s just like Nicole.
  2. She doesn’t mind coming in 2nd because she’s under the impression that 2nd place finishers always get invited to play again.  (After all, that’s what happened to Paul.)
  3. She wants Kevin out of the house next week.
  4. She’s going to continue to throw out Kevin’s food and other possessions because she wants Kevin to worry that he has dementia
  5. She’s going to tell Kevin that he looks old.
  6. She hopes that Kevin gets skin cancer.
  7. She thinks that Kevin is probably a child molester.
  8. If Kevin wins America’s Favorite Player, it’ll just be because people feel sorry for him because he’s old.
  9. She thinks that America loves her and Jason.

As for Matt, he’s pretty much accepted the idea that he’s going to be voted out on Thursday.  He won’t stop telling everyone how happy he is to be going to the jury on Thursday because that means that Raven will still be in the house.  In fact, Matt has a plan to make sure that he goes home instead of Raven.

That plan is to break as many rules as possible and get penalty votes as a punishment.  He wants to get so many penalty votes that it won’t even matter if everyone in the house votes for Raven.  As a result, he is ignoring all of the rules that go with being a Have Not.  He’s refusing to eat slop.  He’s refusing to take cold showers.  He’s refusing to sleep in the have not room.  Whenever the BB production voice announces that Matt is breaking a rule, he responds by cursing back.  And then Raven joins in.

(Interesting to note: Matt, from the minute Jason did not use the veto, announced that he would get himself evicted so that Raven could stay.  Raven has never volunteered to do the same.  I wouldn’t have volunteered either but I would have at least pretended to care that my boyfriend was about to get evicted for me.)

Here’s the thing: I am not a fan of the whole Have Not thing.  I don’t like hearing about Big Brother slop.  I think it’s cruel to not allow people to get a good shower.  I don’t think it’s right to mess with people’s sleeping habit.  I would love it if they did away with the Have Not stuff or if the entire house all stood up and announced, “We’re not doing the have not thing and you’ll have to give all of us a penalty vote.”

However, rules are rules and, until BB gets tired of the whole have not thing, Matt is violating the rules of the game.  Matt has spent the last few weeks whining about how Cody didn’t play by the rules.  When Cody refused to give a speech at a veto ceremony, Matt whined that Cody was disrespcting Big Brother.  When Cody didn’t shake hands after his second eviction, Matt whined that Cody never tried to play the game.

Here’s another rule: “Players are not allowed to use production for strategy.”  That’s an unwieldy phrase but essentially, it means that it is against the rules of Big Brother for Matt to try to pile up penalty votes in order to save Raven.

On Big Brother 11, Chima was expelled from the game for “multiple rule violations.”  Why shouldn’t Matt face the same punishment?  For two days straight now, he has deliberately been breaking the rules and then bragging about it and basically daring production to do anything to stop him.  So, even if Matt is voted out on Thursday, why should he then get to go relax in the jury house and get paid his full stipend?

It’s time to expel Matt from the house.  No jury.  Not stipend.  Just send him home.

That’s my opinion, anyway.  Agree?  Disagree?  Let me know.

BB 19 — An Unpleasant Day In The Big Brother House

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 28, 2017

Hi y’all.

This has not been a pleasant day in the Big Brother House.

To a certain extent, that’s not surprising.  Every season, around this time, people start to go a little bit stir crazy.  Traditionally, during the final month of the game, tensions start to increase.  Fights break out over little things.  People start to realize how close they are to winning the $500,000 and they start questioning previous decisions.  Things are always tense during the final month of Big Brother.

But, seriously, today was awful.  Even by the standards of Big Brother, the feeds were unpleasant today.  What makes it even worse is that most of the remaining houseguests still don’t understand that none of them have a chance if Paul makes it to the final two.  They’re not upset because they’re realizing that, by always doing what Paul told them to do, they’ve probably lost their chance to win the game.  If that was the case, I could at least sympathize with them.

Instead, as has so often been the case this season, fights are breaking out about petty things and the attacks are getting disturbing personal.

Today started out with the veto meeting.  As he promised, Jason did not use the veto.  Matt and Raven are on the block.  Needless to say, both Matt and Raven freaked out.  They started yelling at Jason.  They accused Jason of trying to hide from them.  Raven declared that America was going to hate Jason for going back on his word.  Jason tried to defend himself but Jason’s not really that good with coming up with arguments on the spot.

Matt has asked everyone to vote him out so that Raven can stay in the game.  Raven, for her part, has asked everyone to vote out Matt so that she can stay in the game.  Matt is a have not this week but he’s announced that he’s going to eat whatever he wants to eat and he’s going to sleep wherever he wants to sleep.  He told Paul that his goal is to get a record number of penalty votes by breaking all of rules.

Now, I was expecting Matt and Raven to be upset.  It was unpleasant to watch them scream but that’s just because Matt and Raven are unpleasant people in general.

No, what really got me mad was what happened afterward.  The rest of the house is really angry that Jason did not put Kevin on the block.  Paul has been going around telling everyone that Kevin’s been talking about them all behind their back.  He also revealed that Kevin won the 25 grand.

Josh, as usual, spent the entire day getting more and more worked up over Kevin.  He told everyone that he was going to call Kevin out.  As usual, Paul and Alex egged Josh on.

Meanwhile, Keven saw Christmas in the living room.  In his typically out-of-it fashion, he asked Christmas if she was going for a swim.  Christmas snapped that she can’t get in the pool because of her broken foot.  Suddenly, Josh jumped into the argument and accused Kevin of voting for Matt, called Kevin out on winning the money, and insinuated that Kevin didn’t actually have a family.  Kevin got in Josh’s face and announced that he was going to punch him…

DOWN GO THE FEEDS!

And the feeds were down for close to an hour.  There was a lot of speculation that, when they came back up, either Josh or Kevin would be out of the house.  However, when the feeds did return, both Josh and Kevin were still in the house.  Apparently, a fight came very close to breaking out.  Production had to step in and order Josh and Kevin to go to opposite sides of the house.

It gets worse.

Apparently, production told the houseguests, once again, to stop with bullying.  Josh asked Paul if this meant that he couldn’t call out Kevin.

“We’ll all call him out next week,” Paul said, “when we’re in power.”

Alex then started to come up with various cruel things that she could say to Kevin, most of them having to do with his age.

Meanwhile, Jason decided to get in on the conversation, probably hoping to get back in everyone’s good graces after not using the veto. Jason said something so vile that it’s making me reconsider a lot of stuff about him.  Jason said that, after the show, he should go up to Boston and tie up Kevin’s daughters and force them to watch while he rapes Kevin’s wife.  When he said this, Paul, Josh, and Alex laughed and laughed.

(Alex, by the way, has a cousin who was raped and murdered.)

Seriously, this season is getting entirely too unpleasant.  While I’m not going to tell anyone else who to vote for, I will say that, as far as America’s Favorite Player is concerned, I will not under any circumstances be voting for Jason.  If anything, I’m tempted to vote for Cameron.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be better!

BB 19 — I Am Shocked

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 27, 2017

Hi y’all!

Well, I am absolutely shocked.  It’s been kind of a strange few days in the Big Brother House.  At first, the plan was to nominate Matt and Raven and tell them that they were both pawns to get rid of Kevin.  The plan was to use the veto to take down Raven and put up Kevin.  Matt would be lured into a false sense of security and then on Thursday — BLINDSIDE!  Jason is HoH and he absolutely cannot stand either Raven or Matt so he was absolutely overjoyed to have the chance to get Matt out of the house.  Even more importantly, the plan had Paul’s approval.

Jason won the veto and suddenly, Paul, Alex, and Christmas decided that they should go ahead and target Kevin.  They all told Jason that he should go ahead and use the veto as planned and then target Kevin instead of Matt.  In the past, all it took for the target to change was for Paul to announce that the target had changed.

Not this week.

Jason told all three of them — Paul, Alex, and Christmas — that he has no intention of targeting Kevin and, in fact, he’s not even going to use the veto.  Apparently, Jason tried to warn Kevin that he would be going up as a replacement nominee and Kevin said that he’d rather not to do that, not even as a pawn.  Jason promised that he wouldn’t put Kevin on the block and apparently, Jason is planning on keeping that promise.

Any other season, this would not be a shock.  But for Big Brother 19, this is huge.

Now, unfortunately, Jason did make the mistake of telling Paul that he’s sick of always being the minion.  Apparently, Jason still doesn’t understand that Paul has been the one calling all the shots this season.  Both Jason and Alex still consider Paul to be a friend when, actually, Paul is an opponent.

(Alex even told Jason that Paul isn’t trying to tell them what to do.  Instead, Alex said, “Paul is just teaching us how to play the game.”)

So, in all probability, Jason is now going to be Paul’s new target.  But for now, it appears that Kevin’s safe and Matt’s days in the house are numbered.  Raven has said that, if the veto is not used, she will start World War III in the house.  (Raven doesn’t know that most of the house can’t stand her and probably wouldn’t have her back if she did start anything.)

We should have some fireworks on Monday!

Lisa Marie

P.S. I just watched tonight’s show.  In the course of one week, Christmas accidentally picked Raven for veto and then Alex accidentally voted for Matt.  These aren’t exactly the smartest players around.

BB19 — Veto Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 26, 2017

Hi y’all,

Just a quick post to make it all official:

Jason has won the veto.  It was the comp where they search the house and throw stuff all over the place.  Josh apparently overturned every single bed while he was searching.  The house is a total mess right now.

Now, the question is whether or not Jason is going to use it.  When Jason nominated Matt and Raven, he said that Matt was his target but he wanted them to think that he was just putting them up as pawns so that he could get out Kevin.  He’s even said that, if he won the veto, he might go ahead and take Raven down and nominate Kevin in her place but that’s just so it will be a true blindside when Matt leaves the on Thursday.

However, Paul seems to be more and more determined to get Kevin out of the house.  He was telling Josh that he’s sure that, if he decided to go after Kevin, he could convince Alex and then Alex could convince Jason.  Paul’s probably right, too.

So, once again, this week is all probably going to come down to what Paul wants.  To me, it seems foolish to waste this much time trying to get Kevin out of the house.  Kevin is terrible at comps and he’s one of the least strategic players that I’ve ever seen in the house.  He’s a nice, eccentric guy,  Paul doesn’t trust Kevin because Kevin talked to both Cody and Mark, which to me says more about Paul being insecure than anything else.

Plus, if Paul gets rid of Kevin then how is he always going to know what everyone else is saying behind his back?  Seriously, Kevin cannot keep a secret to save his life.

As always, we’ll see what happens.  But right now, it sounds like Kevin could be in a lot of trouble on Thursday.

BB19 — Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 25, 2017

Hi, y’all!

First off, a message to all of our readers who are currently in the path of Hurricane Harvey: please know that we’re all keeping you in our thoughts.  I’m in north Texas so I’m out of the path of the hurricane but for those of you on the coast and in central Texas, stay safe!  Harvey’s scary but we’re a strong state full of strong people.

Secondly, here’s what is happening in the Big Brother House:

Jason is the HoH and he just made his nominations.  He put Matt and Raven on the block.  Now, he, Paul, and Alex are telling Matt and Raven that they’re both going up as pawns and that the plan is to backdoor Kevin.  Matt is feeling so safe that he’s even said that, if he wins veto, he’ll use it on Raven and stay on the block.  What Matt doesn’t realize is that he is the target this week.

On a personal level, everyone in the house would rather get rid of Raven.  This week, everyone in the house has been talking about how tired they are Raven.  Paul and Christmas have complained about how her accent is always changing.  Kevin thinks that she is lying about her diseases.  Kevin has said that he only tolerates her because he’s scared that all of the viewers love her.  Paul, however, has been telling everyone that Matt is the threat and he’s the one that has to go.  According to Paul, Matt would come for revenge if Raven was voted out but Raven will just fall apart without Matt around.

Paul’s real plan, however, is to get Matt evicted and then have all the blame fall on Jason and Alex.  Paul feels that he can then use Raven to break up Alex and Jason.  At the same time, Paul has also said that he wouldn’t mind losing Kevin this week so the plans could always change.

The only other big news today is that the temptation tree lit up.  Nobody took an apple, which is sad.  Is anyone, other than Paul, interested in playing the game?

Big Brother 19 — And your new HoH is…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 24, 2017

Hi, y’all!

Just a quick update for everyone.  Obviously, if you haven’t seen tonight’s eviction episode and you don’t want any spoilers, now would be the time to stop reading until you get a chance to see the episode….

ANYWAY…

As I expected, Mark was voted out of the house and became the 3rd member of the jury.  What I did not expect is that it was not a unanimous vote.  Though Mark had spent a good deal of the previous week trying to convince Alex and Jason that they should vote for Matt, I didn’t think that they actually would.  However, Jason and Alex actually went against the house and they cast their votes for Matt.

In the end, it was a 4-2 vote.  If Alex and Jason had been able to get one more person to join them, it would have been a tied vote.  They probably could have gotten Kevin to vote with him but I can understand why they didn’t approach him.  Kevin has a habit of running off and telling everything to Paul.

Christmas and Raven are really upset about the 2 votes.  (Matt is eating cereal.)  They’ve been running around trying to figure out who cast those two votes.  At this point, it should be obvious that it was Alex and Jason.  Afterall, it was two votes and Alex and Jason always vote together.  Josh made clear that he would vote however Christmas wanted.  Paul ordered everyone to vote for Mark.  Kevin never goes off on his own.

Jason and Alex want to keep it a secret that they voted for Matt.  However, Jason told Kevin that they voted for Matt and swore him to secrecy.  Well, I can guarantee Kevin is going to tell everyone what he knows, especially since Christmas already told him that she thought that he (Kevin) was one of the votes for Matt.  Add to that, Kevin’s upset that he wasn’t included in the plan.  According to Jason, he and Alex decided to vote for Matt at the last minute.

Fortunately, for both Jason and Alex, Jason just won the HoH.  It was an endurance comp.  Both Matt and Josh fell early.  I’m not surprised by Josh falling but I am kind of annoyed that Matt didn’t try harder.  Even though Matt knows that he has people targeting him now, he still couldn’t be bothered to make much of an effort.

Raven, who looked like she was on the verge of tears for most of the comp, did hold on for quite some time but, when she tried to change positions to get a little more comfortable, she slipped and she fell.  After Raven fell, she sat down beside Matt and sulked.

Ultimately, it was Jason who lasted the longest.  He is now HoH and I imagine he’s going to target Matt and Raven, with Kevin as a backup nominee in case Matt or Raven wins the veto.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 19 — The Case Of The Missing Bracelet

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 22, 2017

Hi y’all!

Today, in the Big Brother House, Raven freaked out because she couldn’t find one of her bracelets.  She said that it was given to her by a friend of hers who died of one of her diseases and that the bracelet was very important to her.  She enlisted the entire house to help her look for it.  Eventually, Paul found the bracelet.  It was underneath the coffeemaker…

Raven is convinced that someone specifically hid the bracelet, just to upset her.  Who did it?  Raven thinks that it might have been Kevin…

KEVIN!?

Well, that’s what Raven says.  And now, she’s told both Paul and Matt that, if she wins HoH, she might put Kevin up as revenge for hiding her bracelet.

Now, myself, I don’t think Kevin would have hid the bracelet.  That’s not Kevin’s style.  For the most part, Kevin doesn’t do anything and it’s kind of hilarious that the houseguests have suddenly gotten it into their heads that he’s some sort of strategic genius.  It’s kind of like when Frankie decided that Donnie was actually a rocket scientist during BB16.

Instead, here are some realistic theories about what happened with the bracelet:

  1. Raven hid the bracelet herself so that she could be the center of attention and hopefully, get some screentime on the show.  She blamed Kevin because she knows that the house is probably going to go after Kevin as soon as Mark leaves.
  2. Nobody hid the bracelet.  Raven just misplaced it while she was in the kitchen.  (She spends a lot of time in the kitchen, largely because she’s decided that she is the house cook, despite the fact everyone has said that they hate her cooking.)
  3. Paul hid the bracelet.  In the morning, before Raven announced her bracelet was missing, Paul said that he had been up all night talking to the diary room and that’s why he was tired.  But what if he was up all night hiding Raven’s bracelet?  That may sound far-fetched but I do think Paul is more likely to have done it than Kevin.  Add to that, Paul is the one who found the bracelet and he’s been encouraging Raven to distrust Kevin all week.  Even if Paul didn’t hide the bracelet, this is all playing out to his advantage.

My personal theory is the first one.  Raven hid it herself.

Anyway, the bracelet thing may end up backfiring on Raven.  All at once, everyone in the house seems to be getting annoyed with both her and Matt.  Matt is viewed as being useless while everyone is now pretty much convinced that Raven is lying about all of her injuries and her illnesses.

Plus, Jason now thinks that Matt and Raven are planning on coming after him and Alex.  Earlier today, he pulled Kevin into the storage room and asked if he would be willing to vote for Matt instead of Mark.  As always, Jason said he’d do whatever the majority of the house is doing.  However, Kevin also said that he didn’t think Alex would be willing to blindside Matt.

Kevin’s probably right but still, it would be nice to see a blindside, especially since Matt has gotten so far while people who actually have personalities have been voted out early.  Here’s hoping that Jason can convince Alex to change her vote and that the Couch gets sent packing!

(The Couch, by the way, is Matt.)

Big Brother 19 — Messages From Above

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 21, 2017

Hi, y’all!

I’m back from the lake so I can finally get a little better caught up on what’s been happening inside the house.  Like most of America, the Big Brother Houseguests started out today by going outside and watching the eclipse.  Production gave them special glasses and everything.

Before going outside, Josh asked Jason, “Is it okay to look at the sun without the glasses?”

“Try it and let me know,” Jason replied.

(Those aren’t the exact words but that was the general gist of the conversation.)

After the eclipse, it was time for the veto meeting.  To no one’s great surprise, Jason used the veto on himself and Christmas named Mark as his replacement.  The plan is to evict Mark on Thursday and I don’t really see any way for Mark to change anyone’s mind.  No one considers Matt to be a threat.

(That said, if I was Matt, I would probably be a little annoyed that, after using the veto on Jason last week, the favor was not returned this week.  If Jason truly trusts everyone, why wasn’t he willing to use his veto on someone else and stay on the block, like Matt did?  It probably has something to do with Jason not being an idiot.)

Who will be the target after Mark?  Paul’s been saying that he would probably go after Matt and Raven but, actually, it sounds like he’s decided that Kevin cannot be trusted.  He’s already telling people not to talk to Kevin, just as he did with Jessica, Cody, and Mark.  On a normal season of Big Brother, people would be rebelling against Paul’s need to micromanage but this season, no one seems to care.

The only other excitement is that we’ve had two lockdowns today.  First, there was someone with a bullhorn.  I’m not sure what was said because sirens went off as soon as whoever it was started yelling.  Then, after that, an airplane flew over the house and started to write something in the air.  That led to another lockdown.  Rumor has it that the plane wrote “VOTE *Something*”

The most interesting thing about the lockdowns was how panicked Paul got.  As soon as the sirens went off and the production voice told the HGs to come inside, Paul was jumping up and herding everyone back in the house.  Apparently, he’s figured out that, whatever was being yelled or written, wasn’t going to help his game.

That’s it for now!  I hope everyone enjoyed today’s Eclipse Day!

Big Brother 19 — Tonight’s Episode

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 20, 2017

Hi, y’all!

Tonight’s episode was a little bit strange.  While we already knew that Christmas was going to win HoH and that Jason and Matt were going to go up on the block, tonight’s episode did show us a little of how that came to happen.  Since the feeds were down for the first few hours of Christmas’s HoH, I guess it was interesting to see what her thinking was.

I say that I “guess” it was interesting because, honestly, nothing that we learned surprised me.  What did surprise me was that Christmas honestly seems to think that backdooring Mark is a big move.  She spent almost the entire episode bragging about how, if she didn’t get Mark out, she would at least break up one of the couples.  But, honestly, getting rid of the house’s target is not a big move.  And I don’t think anyone takes Matt and Raven seriously as a power couple.  For that matter, Jason and Alex aren’t quite as strong as everyone seems to think that they are.

We saw a lot of Alex tonight.  She’s convinced that Kevin’s a cop.  Alex has let her two HoHs go to her head, despite the fact that she spent both of her HoHs taking orders from Paul.  For that matter, I’m not sure what Christmas was acting so smug about.  The only reason she won HoH was because Paul threw it to her.

*sigh*

Oh well!

As for yesterday’s veto comp, Jason won it and he will, of course, be saving himself.  Mark will be going up in his place so it looks like he’ll be going home on Thursday.

Paul did one of his Friendship shows earlier today.  Speaking directly to the viewers, he informed us that he was absolutely serious about taking Christmas and Josh to the final three, though it’s possible that he might drop Christmas and take Raven instead.  Paul said that his main goal, at this point, was to make sure that only people he could beat made it to the final three.

Tomorrow, it’s the veto meeting!

Lisa Marie

P.S. Zingbot hosted the veto.  Apparently, Zingbot said that Josh was fat, the Matt hadn’t done anything “other than Raven” all summer, and that Raven was a clown.  Also, he sang to Christmas.  We’ll see it all on Wednesday!
