Big Brother 19 — Last Night Was A Night For Live Feeds!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 29, 2017

Hi, everyone!

As I sit here typing this, the veto comp is underway.  Just to recap, here’s the current situation in the house:

The house is divided into two factions: There’s the Jessica, Cody, Mark, and Elena faction and then there’s Paul’s group, which features basically everyone else.  Some people are more loyal to Paul than others but, for the most part, it’s everyone against Jessica and Cody.  Everyone knows about the halting hex.

As a result of the Temptation challenge, Mark won immunity and Jason went on the block as this week’s third nominee.

Even knowing that this week’s eviction will probably be canceled by the hex, Paul went ahead and nominated Jessica and Cody for eviction.

Now, here’s where things got interesting.  Last night was a night that definitely reminded me why it’s a good idea to get the live feeds.  Several very dramatic fights broke out.  I imagine that they’ll be featured on Wednesday’s show but they’ll probably only be shown in edited form.  And that’s a shame because, seriously, the drama was insane last night!

Basically, after the nominations, Paul invited Cody and Jessica up to the HoH room so that they could talk about why Paul nominated them.  At first, it was just Paul and Jessica talking and the conversation was, at the very least, calm.  Jessica was not happy about being nominated but she didn’t seem to be extremely shocked.  Then Cody stepped into the room and announced, “This week means nothing!” From there, the conversation pretty much descended into a shouting match between the three of them, with Cody appearing about as angry as I’ve ever seen him in the house.  Paul, at one point, told Jessica to lower her voice, which led to Cody shouting at Paul not to tell Jessica what to do.  Paul ordered them to leave his room.  “What are you going to do about it!?” Cody replied. Cody did finally leave the room but he kept shouting at Paul as he did so,

Needless to say, Jessica was not happy with Cody.  Jessica says she was trying to smooth things over with Paul before Cody came in and started up all the drama again.  Now, both of them have even bigger targets than before on their back.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Josh once again decided to give one of his endless monologues about how he believes that Mark is not a man and he basically accused Mark of being Cody’s lapdog.  (While that may be correct, it’s somewhat hypocritical for Josh to accuse anyone of being a lapdog, considering the fact that he doesn’t even breathe unless Paul gives him permission first.)  Mark sat at the table while Josh went on and on and on.  Kevin and Jason tried to distract everyone by making jokes and suggesting a game of twister but Josh just kept going.  Finally, Josh grabbed some pots and pans and started singing his little circus song.  Mark finally snapped, jumped up, and rushed at Josh.  As Kevin moved in between them, the feeds quickly went to fish.

That was a lot of drama.  For me, it was interesting to watch because I don’t like anyone in the house.  Therefore, I could watch without taking sides.  My opinion — and everyone’s welcome to disagree — is that Cody should have kept quiet and that Josh is an annoying punk.  Don’t get me wrong.  I don’t like Paul.  I don’t like Mark.  But seriously, it made sense for Paul to go ahead and nominate Jessica and Cody.  (What was he supposed to do?  Give them all an extra week of safety on top of the one that they already have?)  As for Josh, my opinion is that someone in the diary room told Josh that people loved it when he started taunting Cody and Jessica during the HoH comp.  Someone told him, “People love it when you call the other houseguests Meatballs.  People love it when you do your stupid little circus song.”  I’ll admit that it’s good for drama but I have to wonder if Josh gets that people aren’t laughing with him as much as they’re laughing at him.

Anyway, the veto comp is still going on!  The players are Paul, Jessica, Cody, Jason, Kevin, and Raven.  Both Kevin and Raven have indicated that they’re planning on throwing the comp to Paul.  If Jason wins the veto, he’ll take himself off the block and, since he’s the third nominee, I imagine there won’t be a replacement nominee.  If either Jessica or Cody wins the veto … well, they have the hex so it really doesn’t matter.

This may be a wasted week but it’s been great for drama!

Hi y’all!

First off, please forgive the briefness of this update.  I’m basically going to have to post and then run.  But I did want to give everyone a quick update on who won the Temptation Comp and what’s going with the nominations.

So, yesterday, I thought that Jessica had made a big mistake by announcing that she had the Halting Hex because I figure it would just cause Paul to target Mark and Elena.  Well, it turns out that I was wrong.  Instead, Paul has decided that he’s going to go ahead and nominate Jessica and Cody, just so he can force them to use the hex and take it out of the game.  Jessica has been hinting that she can use the hex repeatedly for several weeks but, of course, that’s not true and Paul has said that he’s pretty sure that Jessica is lying.  Assuming Jessica uses the hex this week (and there’s no reason why she wouldn’t), that’ll be it for that temptation.  Paul is assuming that one of his allies will win HoH and take either Cody or Jessica out the following week.

(As I sit here writing this, Paul is making his nominations but he’s pretty much told everyone in the house that he’s going to put up Jessica and Cody.)

The Temptation Competition occurred earlier today.  Though the feeds were down for the comp and it’s been a bit of struggle to keep straight who won and who lost, it appears that Mark won the competition.  That means that if he is safe for the week.  That also means that, if the veto is used, Elena will probably be the replacement nominee.

Coming in last, in the temptation comp, was Jason.  That means that Jason is going to go up on the block as the third nominee.

So, when the feeds come back, our nominees for eviction will be Cody, Jessica, and Jason.

The nomination ceremony, by the way, seems to be taking longer than usual.  Drama, maybe?  If so, we’ll see it on Sunday!

As always, we’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 19 — What Happened Tonight…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 27, 2017

Hi y’all!

Well, that was a pretty good eviction show.  I can’t say that I was shocked by the results.  Ramses made some good points in his pre-eviction speech but he should have started making those points as soon as he was nominated.  Instead, like so many of the nominees this year, he waited until the last minute to really campaign.  For someone who claimed to be a superfan, Ramses didn’t seem to understand much about the game.

For those keeping track, the final vote was 7-3.  Cody, Mark, and Elena voted for Josh.  Everyone else voted to evict Ramses.  After the vote, Cody and Jessica may have been upset but they didn’t seem to be surprised.  They had been warned that a blindside was in the works.  Mark and Elena looked far more surprised.

I also wasn’t shocked when Paul won HoH.  I remembered, from last season, that Paul was good at memory comps.  Paul spent a lot of time studying those cartoons the night before.  Cody, on the other hand, barely glanced at them.  So, I’m not shocked that Paul won HoH.

But then Jessica announced, at the end of the show, that she was happy that America had given her the temptation so that she could keep “Cody and I safe for a few weeks.”  That was a priceless moment, because it caught both Paul and Josh totally off guard.  Even though Paul may have suspected that Jessica had the temptation, he obviously wasn’t expecting her to announce that fact to the entire house.  As for Josh — well, I’m happy any time he gets that smirk wiped off of his face.

I have to admit, though — I thought Jessica made a mistake by announcing that.  If I was Paul, I would hear that and say, “Okay, I’ll just nominate Mark and Elena and use my HoH to take out the only allies you have left.”  But, as of right now, it appears that Paul is planning on nominating Cody and Jessica.  He says he wants to flush out the temptation and force them to use it.  Paul may be under the impression that the temptation will just force him to nominate someone else.  I don’t know if he realizes that it will basically cancel out his entire HoH.  Then again, forcing Jessica to use the temptation isn’t necessarily a bad strategy.  Assuming that Paul can keep his alliance together and nobody flips, Paul and his allies can just keep nominating Cody and Jessica until they eventually get them out.

Paul has been doing some damage control with Mark and Elena.  He told Mark that the decision to vote out Ramses was a house decision and that they didn’t tell Mark or Elena because it was felt that they were too emotionally close to Ramses.  Paul has also been telling anyone who will listen that Ramses won the $25,000 at the start of the season.  Of course, Paul knows that Kevin is the one who actually won that money.

Speaking of Kevin, I did like his final goodbye message to Ramses.  It’s hard for me not to feel bad for Ramses, even though I understand why he was evicted.  To be voted out is bad.  To be voted out in favor of someone as obnoxious as Josh has to be even worse.

Because Jessica took the halting hex, there is going to be one more competition.  It’s going to be the Temptation Competition and, whoever wins it, will be safe for the week.  If either Cody or Jessica wins the Temptation Comp and then the other one wins the veto, they could actually get through the week without having to use the hex.  That would keep things interesting.

So, right now, it appears that Jessica and Cody are going to be nominated but, as always, anything can happen!

What does the future hold?

We’ll find out soon enough!

Big Brother 19 — The March To A Blindside Continues…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 25, 2017

Hi y’all:

This is shaping up to be such a strange week in the Big Brother House.  On the one hand, Jessica and Cody should have all the power.  Jessica won HoH.  Jessica made the nominations.  Jessica won the veto.  Jessica has the halting hex.  Cody decisively beat Paul and earned the right to renter the house.  Since Cody previously got blind-sided when he was HoH, he should be aware of what Paul is capable of doing.  Everything should be going exactly as Cody and Jessica want…

And yet, it appears that the exact opposite is going to happen on Thursday.  Jessica and Cody think that they are going to get Josh out of the house on a unanimous vote.  Instead, thanks to Paul’s scheming, their pawn Ramses is going to go home.  Seriously, this is the EXACT same thing that happened when Cody was HoH.  How could Cody and Jessica fall for it twice?

All this time, I kind of assumed that Cody had talked Jessica out of using the veto but actually, it sounds like Jessica talked herself out of it.  Originally, Jessica was thinking of using the veto take down Ramses and put up Alex.  It makes sense, right?  That way, there’s no risk of losing an ally.  Plus, since there aren’t enough votes to get rid of Paul and Cody and Jessica say they don’t want to break up any of the showmances before jury, Alex was pretty much the obvious replacement.

However, Jessica apparently changed her mind because she was worried that Alex was such a target that people would vote to get rid of her rather than Josh…

Uhmm, Jessica?  Even if she was a pretty lousy HoH, Alex is still a hundred times more dangerous than Josh!  And either way, you’d be getting one of Paul’s allies out of the house!  Obviously, Jessica and Cody have let their own intense dislike of Josh cloud their vision.  They’re so obsessed with specifically getting him out of the game that they don’t realize that ultimately, the main thing they need to do is get rid of at least one of Paul’s allies.  So now, unless Jessica realizes what’s happening and wastes her halting hex, Ramses is about to be voted out of the game.

However, I think Jessica is planning on holding on to that halting hex for as long as possible.  Last night, she not only told Kevin about the hex but it appears that she also exaggerated about the hex’s power.  I’m not sure what she said exactly because the feeds were down during part of her conversation with Kevin.  But Kevin seemed really amazed by the power of the hex.  It’s possible — though I can’t be sure — that she told him that the hex is good for the entire game.  I guess I’ll find out later because there’s no way Kevin’s going to keep the information to himself.

Anyway, I guess Josh could still melt down and do something stupid but, as of right now, it looks like Ramses will be leaving the house on Thursday to the surprise of no one but him, Cody, Jessica, Mark, and Elena.

Big Brother 19 — Veto Ceremony Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 24, 2017

Hi y’all!

Well, I have to admit that I was really convinced that Jessica was going to wise up to what Paul was doing and that she would end up using the veto to backdoor Alex.  I mean, it just seemed like the logical thing to do.  It’s not like Paul’s being super subtle.  It’s not like Josh is that good of an actor.  Even more importantly, Jason told them exactly what Paul was planning on doing.

But, at today’s veto meeting …

THE VETO WAS NOT USED!

Apparently, Jessica went back and forth on whether to take Ramses off the block but, in the end, she decided to keep the nominations the same.  That, of course, means that Ramses is probably going to be voted out of the house.  At this point, it seems like Ramses only has two hopes left:

  1. Hope that Josh gets so obnoxious that everyone votes him out.
  2. Hope that Josh accidentally exposes the plan, causing Paul to decide that Josh is actually a liability to keep around.  (I could actually see this happening.)
  3. Hope that Jessica figures out what’s going on and decides to waste her halting hex on saving him

I feel a little bit bad for Ramses.  He’s not a great player.  Especially for someone who claims to be a superfan, he often seems to be rather lost.  But he seems to be a nice guy and it appears that he’s about get totally blind-sided as a result of Cody and Jessica’s naïveté.  Cody especially should know better at this point!

On a more positive note, Betty sent me this picture earlier.  Here’s Cody with his daughter and his ex:

If Cody was willing to smile like that in the Big Brother house, he’d probably doing a lot better in the game.

Anyway, to recap, here is the current situation in the house:

Jessica is the HoH and has the veto, which she did not use.

Christmas still has her ring and can take the place of someone in a veto comp.

Jessica has the halting hex, which she has to use within the next three evictions.

Josh and Ramses are on the block.

Cody, Mark, and Elena are probably going to vote to evict Josh.

It seems like the entire rest of the house — including Matt and Raven — is probably going to do what Paul tells them to do, which right now means voting out Ramses.

Things could always change, of course.  But for now, things aren’t looking good for Ramses,

Big Brother 19 — So that’s how it happened…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 23, 2017

Hi y’all!

So, after tonight’s show, we know how Jessica won HoH.  That competition should have scared a lot of people.  Christmas showed that she can still compete.  Cody showed that it takes more than just taunting and trash to get him to step off a platform.  Jessica showed that she’s a lot more determined to win than I think a lot of people realize..

But you know what?  The main thing that people are going to remember is Josh acting like an idiot.

Josh really divides viewers.  It seems that people either love him or hate him.  Those who like him always seem to argue that Josh has the courage to call everyone out.  Myself, I thought he came across like a child tonight.  Singing songs about meatballs and grinning like an idiot doesn’t exactly make you a strategic genius.  If anything, his taunting made Jessica and Cody even more determined to win.  And it certainly made him the obvious target.

As we all know, Josh and Ramses are on the block.  Everyone has been telling Cody and Jessica that they are planning on voting out Josh and Josh has been pretending to act depressed and defeated.  However, that’s just because that’s what Paul told him to do.  Paul has been trying to convince everyone to vote out Ramses instead.  He wants to pull off another blindside and he wants to keep Josh around to do his dirty work for him.

And it really looked like Paul might succeed.  Jessica was so sure that Josh was going home that, after she won the veto, she told Cody that she wasn’t even going to use it.  Apparently, she felt so certain of things that she had no problem leaving her pawn on the block.  Needless to say, that’s always a huge mistake.

And it looks like Jessica may finally be realizing that something is going on.  Earlier tonight, she was telling Cody that she is now thinking about using the veto and putting up … Alex!  Apparently, she’s decided that it might make more sense to target Alex than Josh.  (Cody, for his part, said that he needed Josh out of the house for the sake of his sanity.)  Jessica says she’s going to ask Paul if the house really is unanimous about voting out Josh and, if she gets any indication that Paul is lying, she’s going to use the veto and put up Alex.

What I’m wondering is why even bother to ask Paul?  It’s your veto.  Just use it and put up Alex or Mark or Matt or whoever.  What you don’t do is just leave a potential ally on the block.  This is a numbers game and, if you don’t protect your people, you won’t have the numbers to win.  It’s as simple as that.

We’ll see what happens with the veto meeting tomorrow,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 19 — HoH, Nominations, and Veto Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 22, 2017

Hi, everyone!

So, because the feeds were down for so long, it’s still not totally clear how all this happened but here’s where the house stands now:

  1. Cody has reentered the house.
  2. Jessica won HoH.  Apparently, Christmas came close to beating her.
  3. Kevin has taken over Dom’s talk show, which is apparently now a “Friendship Show.”
  4. Jessica — with, I imagine, a lot of input from Cody, nominated Ramses and Josh for eviction.
  5. She does not appear to be trying to backdoor Paul, which is what a lot of people assumed she was trying to do.  Instead, Josh does seem to be her target.  Cody seems to understand that they don’t have the votes to get rid of Paul so instead, they need to start picking off Paul’s alliance.
  6. Josh, of course, is the obvious target because he’s repeatedly attacked almost everyone in the house and it really doesn’t seem like any of the HGs would miss him if he was voted out.
  7. But why nominate Ramses, even if he is a pawn?  Why not nominate someone like Mark or Matt to make sure that, no matter what, a Paul ally would be on the block?
  8. Ramses was kind of freaking out about this, though Jessica kept telling him that he was just a pawn.  Again, she didn’t seem to realize that Paul not only had the numbers to keep Josh but that he also wants to keep Josh around to do his dirty work for him.
  9. Tonight, they played for the veto.  Apparently, it was Josh, Ramses, Cody, Jessica, Christmas, and Alex competing.  And…
  10. JESSICA WON THE VETO!

So, if Jessica’s smart, she will take Ramses off the block and she’ll replace him with someone close to Paul.

Finally, for those keeping track:

Christmas still has her ring and can take the place of someone in a veto comp

Jessica still has the halting hex, which means that she can stop any of the next three evictions.

Hopefully, Sunday’s show will fill in some blanks as to what happened during the HoH comp (it sounds like Jessica tried to make a deal with Christmas and she rejected it) and the logic behind the nominations.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 19 — As We Wait For The Feeds To Come Back…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 21, 2017

Hi, everyone!

Well, I’m still waiting for the feeds to come back so, as we wait, here’s a quick update on what happened tonight.  If you haven’t seen the episode yet and you don’t want it to be spoiled, stop reading now and come back after you’ve seen it.

Anyway…

Tonight was the battleback.  There were three comps.  The first one was a maze comp, which should have been familiar to anyone who has ever watched Survivor.  Using a pulley system, Dom, Jillian, Cameron, and Cody had to direct a ball through a maze.  Cody finished the maze first.  Cameron finished second.  Dom and Jillian were eliminated.

This was followed by another comp, this one between Cameron and Cody.  Using a catapult, they had to knock down ten blocks.  (Again, this was a comp that’s been featured on nearly every season of Survivor.)  Cameron did surprisingly well but ultimately, Cody won.  Cameron was eliminated and Cody moved on.

(For the record, I hate the way that Cameron’s been treated.  He should have been allowed to reenter the house when Megan self-evicted.  But, oh well.  He’s gone now.)

Cody was then told that he would have to win one more comp to enter the house.  The houseguests would pick one houseguest to compete against him.  Cody was allowed to pick which comp he wanted.  He picked the maze.

As for the houseguests, they were each sent to the diary room where they voted for the houseguest they wanted to serve as the house’s champion.  Foolishly, they all voted for Paul.  (Paul has gotten a reputation for being a challenge beast.  He’s good but he’s not that good.)

Despite the best efforts of the show’s editors, there was never really any suspense over who was going to win that final competition.  Cody won easily and, as a result, Cody is now back in the house!  Jessica was really excited.  Mark looked like he was about to start crying again.

So, what do you think we’ll see when the feeds come back?  Will Jessica and Cody be plotting Paul’s downfall or will they now be working with Paul?  And how will the rest of the house be handling the return of Cody?  It’s interesting to note, as well, that the entire house put their faith in Paul and he failed pretty spectacularly.

We’ll see what happens!

Lisa Marie

P.S. By the way, I don’t say this enough but thank you so much for all of your comments!  I may do the updates but y’all are the life of this blog.  Thank you everyone! 🙂

Hi, everyone!

Well, if you saw tonight’s episode, then you know what happened.  To just quickly recap:

The halting hex was won by Jessica.  She did not use it tonight.  It’s still good for the next three evictions.

By a unanimous vote, Dom was sent out of the house.  Not even Josh voted for her.

Right now, the feeds are down and they’re going to be down until tomorrow night.  Tomorrow, CBS will also be broadcasting the Battleback episode.  One of the first four evicted houseguests will win a chance to reenter the house.

So, let’s reopen the diary room and give everyone a chance to vote.  Who do you want to win the Battleback?  Who do you want to see reenter the house?

Do you want to see…

CAMERON, the superfan who was kicked out on the first night

JILLIAN, the season’s first blindside

CODY, Paul’s first victim

or

DOM, the latest to be voted out?

Cast your vote over on the right side of the page or in the comments below!  And then be sure to watch Friday to see who reenters the house!

Again, happy voting!

Lisa Marie
