Big Brother 18: And your final three…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 14, 2016

Hi, y’all!

Well, the highlight of tonight’s episode was definitely getting a look inside the jury house.  It’s amazing that Natalie is even more fake as a juror than she was as a houseguest.  (“I am so excited…”  Sure you are, Nat.)  Meanwhile, is anyone shocked that Zakiyah and Paulie are back together?  We all knew that was going to happen.

I was skeptical when Big Brother promised us an “explosive” jury house confrontation but Paulie and Da’Vonne going off on each other was pretty explosive.  Both Da’Vonne and Paulie have a very high self-regard and neither one is ever willing to back down from an argument.  The bearded Big Brother security guard probably stepped in at exactly the right time.

Of course, once Da’Vonne was led out of the room, Bridgette tried to get some camera time for herself.  The thing with Bridgette — and this was true in the Big Brother House and the Jury House — is that she’s only willing to speak up if someone else (like Da’Vonne) speaks up first.  Bridgette tries to come across like this she’s tough and outspoken but we all remember how she let Frank run her HoH.

As for what happened in the Big Brother House, it was pretty much what we all expected.  Paul did not use the veto.  James cast the only vote and he sent Corey to the jury house.  Corey kissed Nicole during his pre-eviction speech but after he was evicted, he seemed to specifically turn his head so she wouldn’t be able to get a second kiss.

(It’s funny that to think that, at the start of this season, everyone was convinced that this would be the Girl Power season of Big Brother.)

Anyway, your final three:

Paul

Nicole

James

That’s two veterans and Paul.  There will be no more veto comps.  The final three are now taking part in a three-part competition to see who will become the new HoH.  The new HoH will be guaranteed a spot in the final two and will pick both the final juror and who he or she wants to compete with for the final prize.

They’re doing the first round of the competition right now so the feeds are down currently.  When they come back up, we’ll find out who won the first part of the final HoH comp!

Hi, everyone!

If you’re on the west coast or you DVRed it and you have yet to watch Tuesday’s episode, you need to stop reading now because I’m about to reveal some spoilers as far as the final four is concerned.

Okay, here’s your last chance to go to another site.

Tick tick tick tick tick…

TIME’S UP!

Okay, so tonight, Victor was voted out on a 2-0 vote.  Nicole and James both voted to evict Victor and he left the house for the third and final time.  No big surprise there.

Instead, the surprise came during the HoH competition.  Paul, James, and Nicole competed for the role of HoH.  The competition was one where they had to answer true or false about what certain houseguests send inside the house.  By his own admission, James is terrible at mental comps and he proved that tonight, only correctly answering three out of seven questions.

Instead, the comp ended with Nicole and Paul both tied at 6.  So, they did the thing where they had to guess a number and the one who guessed closest to the actual number got to be HoH.

And…

PAUL CAME TO THE CLOSEST AND WON HOH!

So, Paul is now HoH and has gone from being the number one target to being the only safe person in the house.

The feeds are not scheduled to come back on until 10:00 Big Brother Time.  That’s going to be 1:00 am, my time.  I may be out and about at that time so I’m going to go ahead and reopen the Diary Room.

Out of the three HGs who can evicted on Wednesday, who would you vote to evict?

Do you vote to evict:

COREY, the only tall person left

NICOLE, the only girl left

JAMES, the only father left

Cast your vote in the comments below or in the poll on the right side of the page!  And then tune in on Wednesday to see who Paul nominated, who won the veto, and who will be sent to the jury house!

Big Brother 18: We’ve Reached That Point…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 11, 2016

Hi y’all!

Well, we’ve reached that point where the season is nearly over and, as happens almost every year, there’s suddenly not a whole lot to report about what’s going on in the Big Brother House.  The alliances have been made and, with so few people left, there’s really not much of a point in trying to blindside anyone.  At this point, everyone in the house knows where they stand.  They know who the target is.  They know who is working with who.

Corey is HoH.  Victor and Paul are on the block.  Nicole won the veto and she’s not going to use it.  On Monday, Victor is going to be voted out.  We’ll see it on Tuesday, on a show that will be live in name only.  Then, on Wednesday, it’ll be a week of Big Brother in one night and, unless Paul win HoH or the veto, he’ll follow Victor to the jury house.

(Feeds will go down on Monday and will come back on Tuesday.  So, Monday, I get the fun of trying to figure out what to write about with no feeds.)

Looking at our final five, it’s remarkable how much my feelings have changed about all of them.  You can go look at my previous posts and see what a roller coaster ride it’s truly been.  When this season started, I hated both Paul and Victor.  I liked James and I was totally rooting for Nicole, mostly because she reminded me of my cousin, Erica.  As for Corey — he didn’t make much of an impression on me.

I was happy the first time Victor was voted out and then I was just as happy when he got to come back, mostly because all the other possibilities were so obnoxious.  I couldn’t wait for Paul to get voted out.  I complained and complained about his beard.  I was worried that Tiffany would never leave the house.  I thought Paulie was going to win.

But, over just the past month and a half, my opinions have totally changed.  I’ve lost whatever respect I had for James as a player.  (I still like him as a person but, as a Big Brother player, it’s obvious that I and a lot of other people overrated him.)  Nicole no longer seems to be quirky.  Now, she’s just whiny and a little bit hypocritical.  As for Corey — I still don’t think there’s much going on behind Corey’s perpetually empty gaze but I have to give him credit for being good at comps.  He’s not much of a strategist (he pretty much does whatever Nicole tells him) but I’d still want him in my Big Brother alliance.

And then there’s Paul and Victor.  I was just as shocked as anyone to realize that I now actually like Paul and Victor.  Yes, they can both be pretty obnoxious but Paul can also be funny and his energy level has often been the only thing that’s kept this season from getting too boring to watch.  As for Victor, he’s a competition best and you have to respect his loyalty.

Who, of these five, will win?  To be honest, I really think that Corey has the best chance.  The jury hates Nicole.  The jury doesn’t respect James.  Corey, on the other hand, could easily be viewed as being the lesser of two evils.  The wild card is Paul.  If Paul somehow makes it to the final two, I could see him winning.  But I doubt he’ll make it past Wednesday.

We’ll see what happens!  Remember — we’ll see the result of Monday’s vote on Tuesday!  And then Wednesday will be fast forward.  Friday, as JT has informed us in the comments, will be the final three flashback show.  And then on Wednesday, the season ends!

(And, I’m happy to say, a new season of Survivor begins!)

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 18: Wow, this season is nearly over!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 10, 2016

Hi, everyone!

I just realized that this season is nearly over!  I mean, I knew how close it was to being over but it just now dawned on me that Big Brother 18 only has two weeks left!

Anyway, today, they had the veto comp.  It lasted a very long time and, from what they’ve been saying in the house, it appears that it was the comic book cover competition!  The big news is that Nicole won the veto, which means that Victor is going home on…

Well, he’s going home on Monday but we won’t actually see it happen until Tuesday.  That’s right — Tuesday’s live show isn’t actually live.  It’s being taped on Monday.  So, the feeds will probably be down from early Monday until after the show is broadcast on Tuesday.

Last year, of course, this led to Austin being evicted on Monday and, as a result, we didn’t get to see his reaction to being evicted in real-time.  We heard him tell Vanessa that she wasn’t going to win but apparently, they edited that down from a rant that went on for several minutes.  Since I hated Austin, I was really disappointed that we didn’t get to see his full humiliation.

This situation is a little different with Victor.  Unlike Austin, Victor knows that he’s going to evicted and I imagine that he’ll handle it a lot better than Austin did.  Victor may not be happy about it but, at the same time, he has to know that he did remarkably well for someone who has been evicted from the house twice.  He also has to know that Big Brother will probably find an excuse to bring him back for a later season.

(Either that or he’ll show up on Survivor, where I think he would do just fine.)

Anyway, on Wednesday, someone else will be voted out.  That person will probably be Paul, unless he manages to win HoH.  And then, we’ll be down to the final three.  The finale air on the 21st and then, a week later, it’ll be time for Big Brother Over The Top!

Some of you have asked if I’ll be covering Big Brother Over The Top.  Maybe.  If not me, I’m sure someone will.

I’ll let you know soon.

Big Brother 18: We all knew it was going to happen…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 9, 2016

Hi, y’all!

So, it’s been a real difficult night for anyone trying to follow the feeds, as the site keeps going down.  Since this is Big Brother, I’m sure that this is going to lead to a lot of conspiracy theories — kinda like how, a few weeks ago, some people were convinced that the whole reason for the backyard festival was so that Paulie could secretly be slipped the return ticket.  Some will probably say that the feeds keep going down because production is helping out James and Nicole.  A far more likely scenario is that sometimes web sites have problems and tonight is such a night.

But anyway, here’s what I can tell you:

Corey is the HoH.

Corey has nominated, for eviction — PAUL AND VICTOR!

That’s right, he and Nicole have betrayed their alliance.  Is anyone surprised?  Last night, Nicole said that this would be the first time that she’s “backstabbed anyone” this season.  Uhmmm…okay, Nicole.  Still, it is interesting to consider that this is so obvious of a betrayal that even Nicole can’t pretend that it’s anything else.

The target is Victor, because he’s a comp beast.  If Victor wins the veto, the new target will be Paul.  Even if he goes up as a replacement nominee, James appears to be safe this week and now has a final three alliance with Nicole and Corey.

For the record, Paul suspected that Nicorey would betray the Final Four alliance.  Victor, however, seems to be sincerely shocked.  From what I’ve been able to see, Paul is pretending like it doesn’t bother him and saying that he understand that it’s just a game.  Victor, not surprisingly, is a lot more upset and has told both Nicole and Corey that, if he wins both the veto and the HoH, he’s going to come after them.

Things don’t look good for Victor right now but you should never count him out.  Remember, he’s already been voted out twice.  He’s also won HoH 3 times and he’s a competition beast.  If anyone could win the veto and the HoH, it would be Victor.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 18: And your new HoH is…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 8, 2016

Hi y’all!

Well, as we all predicted, Natalie was evicted tonight.  The vote was 3-0 and neither Natalie nor James seemed to be surprised.  So, for those of us hoping for a blindside, we did not get our wish.  It was still interesting to watch tonight’s show.  When Julie was interviewing Jeff and Jordan, she asked them if they felt that Natalie and James could be the next great Big Brother romance.  Then, we got to see Natalie and James in their final moments together and we were left with little doubt that no, James and Natalie will not be the next great Big Brother romance.

When Natalie was talking to Julie, she did say that she had feelings for James but she said it in the same fake way that she says everything.  Natalie was perhaps the least authentic houseguest that I’ve ever seen.  And now she’s going to the jury house, where it appears that Paulie and Zakiyah have made up.

(I feel for Da’Vonne, being stuck in a house with Zakiyah, Paulie, Bridgette, Michelle, and Natalie.)

After Natalie was evicted, it was time for the HoH comp!  Tonight’s comp was the thing where they had to fill up a jug while running up and down a slippery lane.  And the winner was —

COREY!

And if Corey hadn’t won, the winner would have been Nicole!

Seriously, Corey and Nicole were the only two who actually seemed to be trying to win.  Paul kept slipping and falling while James was moving way too slowly.  What’s odd is that apparently, both Paul and James threw this HoH comp.

WHAT!?

I mean, why would you do that?  This late in the game, you can’t afford to throw a comp.  You just can’t.

With Corey as HoH, his main concern is probably going to be to keep Nicole safe.  Now, let’s say that Corey nominates Paul and James for eviction.  Victor wins the veto and then takes Paul off the block.  Or, if Corey nominates James and Victor and Paul wins the veto and uses it on Victor.  If that happened, the only possible replacement would be Nicole.

Hence, if Corey wants to make sure that there’s no chance that he’ll end up in a position where has to put Nicole on the block, he has to nominate Paul and Victor for eviction.  In that case, if either Paul or Victor won the veto, Corey could nominate and possibly backdoor James.

Just a few days ago, Nicole was saying how she’d rather be in the final three with Corey and James than with either Paul or Victor.

So, if he did throw that comp, Paul potentially made a huge mistake.

As for James — it would appear that he’s putting a lot of trust in Nicole and Corey.  Why would you throw a comp when you know that you’re supposedly the number one target in the house?

Anyway, Corey is HoH now!  After coasting through most of the summer, he’s suddenly coming on very strong.  If Corey and Nicole make it to the final two, I get the feeling that Corey would probably win.  The jury really, really hates Nicole.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 18: Is Another Betrayal In the Making?

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 6, 2016

Hi everyone!

Well, there’s not much to report today.  The game is coming to a close and, for this week anyway, the alliances are pretty much set in stone.  Victor is the HoH.  James and Natalie are on the block.  James was originally the target but now it appears that Natalie is going to be sent to the jury on Thursday.  As of right now, it still appears that this will be a blindside.

Nothing’s really changed.  In fact, it appears that the houseguests are sleeping later and later.  This happens every season of Big Brother.  Towards the end of the game, people run out of things to talk about and do.  People start to get bored with each other.  And so, the live feeds are suddenly full of people either snoring or wandering around aimlessly.

However, things might change after Thursday.  Up until earlier today, I was pretty much assuming that the Final Four Alliance of Victor, Paul, Nicole, and Corey was totally set in stone.  I figured that Natalie would be voted out on Thursday and then James would go next week and the rest of the game would pretty much depend on who won HoH after James left.

But now, it’s looking as if that might not happen!

Earlier today, Nicole was talking to Corey.  They were talking about who their ideal final three would be.  And both of them agreed that they would want James to be a part of their final three!  As usual, Nicole was the one directing the conversation so it’s possible that Corey was just agreeing with her because that’s what he always does.  But, to me, it sounded like Nicole was pretty obviously thinking about betraying Paul and Victor during the upcoming week.

It wouldn’t be difficult, of course.  Nicole and Corey have said that, if one of them wins HoH next week, they’re going to nominate James and Victor for eviction.  If either James or Victor wins the veto, Paul will be the replacement nominee.  It wouldn’t be hard, at all, for Corey and Nicole to spend the week saying that they’re going to vote out James, just to suddenly pull a fast one and evict either Victor or Paul instead.

During their conversation, Nicole told Corey that he and James were her two favorite guys in the house and that she actually feels that either she or Corey could actually beat James in a final two situation.  Paul and Victor, they both agreed, would be far more dangerous to beat.

So, was this idle talk or was it a sign of yet another betrayal in the making?

We’ll find out soon!

Big Brother 18: Let’s Just Make It Official

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 5, 2016

Hi, everyone!

Let’s just make it official and state what everyone already knows!  They had the veto ceremony earlier today and Corey decided to…

…NOT USE THE VETO!

Yeah, I know — no big shock there.  To be honest, it would have been kind of fun if Natalie or James had won the veto because then you would get to see everyone in the house scramble a bit.  If Victor had been forced to put up Nicole or Corey as a replacement nominee, you know that Nicole probably would have gotten paranoid even if there was no real reason for to do so.  That’s just Nicole.  Add to that, I would have loved to have seen if James would actually keep his promise about using the veto on Natalie.

But, neither James nor Natalie won the veto.  The veto was won by Corey and everything is pretty much going as planned.

That’s good for the Final Four but it’s a little bit boring for the viewers at home.

For the record, it now seems clear that Natalie is going home.  However, Paul still wants James to think that he’s the one who is going home.  That seems a little bit mean-spirited but I can understand the logic.  If James is convinced he’s leaving, he won’t be mentally preparing himself for the next HoH comp.

Add to that, the Final Four seems to really be looking forward to blindsiding Natalie.  They cannot stand her.

For her part, Natalie has been whining about how she knows that she’s going to be voted out but, to be honest, she’s not totally convincing.  She really does seem to think that James will be the one voted out.

That doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll get a real blindside.  Knowing these houseguests, they’ll probably tell her 30 minutes before the live show.

We’ll see what happens!  As for now, I just hope that everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!
