Big Brother 18: Here We Go Again

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 5, 2016

Hi, y’all!

When Victor left the house, it was largely due to Paulie.  When he reentered the house, he said that he was going to go after Paulie.  Da’Vonne made it a point to tell Victor that he was Paul and Paulie’s next target.

So, now that Victor is Head of Household, is he going after Paulie?

NO!  Instead, he’s doing exactly what Paulie wants him to do.  Paulie wanted him to nominate Zakiyah and Michelle so that’s exactly what Victor did.  Earlier today, the nominations were announced.  Michelle has been sobbing ever since.

As for Zakiyah — well, she knows that Paulie could have kept her from being nominated.  So, you would think that she would be really mad at him, right?  Instead, Zakiyah just seems to be mildly annoyed.  They argued a little but soon, Zakiyah was back to talking about how Paulie puts “butterflies” in her stomach.  When she and Michelle discussed who they should try to convince Victor to nominate if either one of them wins the veto, Paulie’s name did not come up.  Instead, they both agreed that they should try to convince Victor to backdoor James!

To be honest, I thought that Paulie lost his magic powers after Paul messed up his hair.  But no, Paulie apparently still knows how to cast a spell over the house.

After the nominations were announced, Paulie appeared to be shocked to discover that most of the house was totally prepared to vote out Zakiyah.  However, he cast his magic spell and, after a little bit of scrambling, it appears that he’s convinced the house that it would make more sense to vote out Michelle.

(And Michelle is not helping herself by crying and continually saying that she’s on the verge of throwing up.  Nobody is going to want to keep that drama around the house.  Personally, I liked Michelle up until about two weeks ago.  Once she decided that she was best friends with Nicole and Frank, she stopped being quirky and just became another mean girl.)

As for the big advantage, James won it.  James has the power to cancel out the votes of two houseguests on Thursday.  When he showed Natalie the card that announced his new power, he said that maybe America was trying to warn him that Victor was planning to backdoor him.  Natalie replied, “Maybe they are,” and then she started laughing, for some reason.

Anyway, that’s the state of the house right now.  Much like Paul last week, Victor is striding around the house and looking like a king inspecting his kingdom.  Michelle is crying.  And Zakiyah, for whatever reason, doesn’t seem to realize that a real boyfriend wouldn’t suggest that his girlfriend be put on the block.

We’ll see what happens with the veto tomorrow but right now, Michelle appears to be on the verge of being the first houseguest evicted during Thursday’s double eviction!

Big Brother 18: A Quick Update

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 4, 2016

Hi, everyone!

Just a quick update on what happened in the Big Brother House tonight:

Da’Vonne was voted out on a vote of 6-2.  Only Michelle and Zakiyah voted to keep her in the house.  While it doesn’t appear that Da’Vonne was told that she was definitely going to be voted out, she also didn’t seem to be that surprised when the results were read.  After Da’Vonne left the house, she and Julie opened her envelope and they discovered that Da’Vonne did not have a return ticket.

So, Da’Vonne is out of the house and she is now the first member of the jury.  (As she left, she whispered to Victor that he was the next target.)

We learned two important things at the end of the episode.  First off, next Thursday is going to be a double eviction episode.  Also, the next care package is going to give one houseguest the ability to cancel the votes of two houseguests.  That could be a huge advantage for whomever America votes to give it to.

Anyway, the HoH competition is going on right now.  It’s one of those things where the houseguests have to stand on a tiny platform and hold onto a wire while being spun around and repeatedly hit by obstacles.  As of right now, Natalie and Victor are the only two who are still holding on.  Natalie has been trying to make a deal with Victor to convince him to fall but Victor seems to be determined to win HoH.

And why not?  After what Da’Vonne whispered to him, Victor knows that he’s a target.

Then again, the HGs also know that a double eviction is coming up.  I don’t know if it’s occurred to Victor that, if he becomes HoH, he won’t be able to compete to become HoH during the 2nd part of the double eviction.

AND …

NATALIE IS DOWN!  She held on for nearly two hours, she said it was the worst pain ever, she begged Victor to drop and let her have it but in the end, she got Victor to agree not to nominate her and then she dropped.

Victor is the new HOH!

Which basically means that boys will continue to dominate the house this week.  If I was Michelle, I would be very worried right now.

Big Brother 18: Let’s Go Ahead And Open Up The Diary Room!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 3, 2016

Hi everyone!

So, here’s what’s going on.  I have a super busy day tomorrow and I need to get caught up on my sleep tonight.  So, I’m going to go ahead and open up the diary room super early!

But, before I do that, I have to comment on tonight’s show.  It’s hard to know where to begin but I’ll just state the obvious.  This is a very immature house.  I know that almost everyone thinks that the house needs older people.  Well, I’ll just say that the house needs mature people.  If that means older, so be it.  But here’s the thing — I’m about the same age as the remaining houseguests and even I find every single one of them to be amazingly immature.  I would also argue that all of my friends are more mature than the majority of the houseguests.

This is what we learned from tonight’s episode:

  1. Nicole whines whenever she actually has to play the game.
  2. Michelle cries over nothing and then worries that she’s an “ugly crier.”
  3. Zakiyah is willing to give up a chance to win the game, all because she has a crush on a guy that she’s known for a month and a half.
  4. The men in the house are loud, rude, and obnoxious.
  5. Paul has delusions of adequacy.
  6. Paulie thinks the world revolves around him.

Seriously, Big Brother houseguests, grow up!

Anyway, let’s open up the diary room!  In the comments below or in the poll over on the right side of the page, cast your vote!

Who do you want to evict?

DA’VONNE, who always says what’s on her mind even when she probably shouldn’t

or

BRIDGETTE, who may not have a mind?

Cast your vote and be sure to watch the show Thursday to see who goes home and if that person has a return ticket!

Til next time,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 18: Today’s Big News Occurred Outside The House

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 2, 2016

Hi, everyone!

So, I’m that everyone has read the big news.  The 19th season of Big Brother is going to start almost immediately after the end of the current season in September.  It’ll last ten weeks and it will be shown exclusively on CBS All Access (in other words, you’ll have to pay to watch it).  They are still picking the cast for season 19 and, to be honest, it all seems strangely rushed to me.  Remember the last time that they did a season of Big Brother during the winter?  It was one of the worst seasons in Big Brother history, largely because it was thrown together so quickly that the houseguests were poorly chosen.

(That was the season where two of the Houseguests used their prize money to set themselves up as drug dealers.)

Now, I’m not sure that I’ll be able to cover the fall season of Big Brother.  It sounds like most of the show will be taking place during October and, since I’ve already made some commitments for the other sites that I write for, October is going to be a very busy month for me.  So, as much as I may want to, I can’t say for sure whether or not I’ll be able to do a daily blog about Big Brother 19.  We’ll see what happens!

However, we’ll worry about that in a month.  For now, let’s talk about Big Brother 18…

Now, in case you missed it, Da’Vonne has been put on the block.  On Thursday, the houseguests will vote to evict either her or Bridgette.  Paul has told Da’Vonne that she’ll be safe and that the only reason he nominated her was because he figured that, with her previous experience being on the block, she would be able to handle the stress better than someone who has never been on the block.  Da’Vonne doesn’t really believe Paul, mostly because Da’Vonne is not an idiot.

Da’Vonne knows that she’s in danger of going but she still seems to think that she can get James, Natalie, Michelle, and Zakiyah to vote to keep her.  Michelle and Zakiyah definitely want to keep Da’Vonne.  James, meanwhile, seems to be planning on doing whatever the rest of the house is doing.  And, of course, Natalie will do whatever James does.

In other words, it looks like Da’Vonne is going to be evicted on Thursday and, if she doesn’t have the return ticket, she’ll be heading to the jury house.

But she may not be leaving alone!

The houseguests are all rather paranoid that Thursday is going to be a double eviction.  They’ve done the math.  They know that with Victor returning and one houseguest potentially having a return ticket, there is going to have to be at least one double eviction this season.  Nicole seems to be especially paranoid about this but, then again, Nicole’s always paranoid about something.

Personally, I don’t think we’re going to have a double eviction on Thursday.  I could be wrong but it’s hard for me to believe that the Big Brother producers wouldn’t go out of their way to hype a double eviction.  Double evictions are good for ratings so, when the time does come, I imagine that Julie Chen will give the viewers at least a week’s warning.

So, in other words, there probably won’t be a double eviction on Thursday.  But it’s coming and it’s coming soon.

We’ll see what happens,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 18: The Reign of King Paul Continues

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 1, 2016

Hi, everyone!

So, can I just start things out by saying how much I am looking forward to seeing Paul eventually voted out of the house?  It might not happen for a few weeks, I realize that.  Right now, he’s a member of the dominant alliance and that alliance doesn’t seem to be in any danger of falling apart.  But trust me — Paul will eventually be sent to the jury and I can’t wait to see it.

Seriously, Paul is so full of himself.  Remember how we complained about Paulie letting the title of HoH go to his head?  Well, Paul is even worse.  Paul seems to think that winning HoH for a week is the same as joining the royal family.  Right now, he’s got the entire house kissing up to him and he’s not smart enough to realize that they’re only doing it because of where’s sleeping for the week.  Paul has gotten it into his head that he is a masterful Big Brother player.  He’s not, of course.  He’s just a doofus with a beard.

I checked in on the house earlier today and Bridgette was in the HoH room, literally plucking his eyebrows for him.  Bleh.

Anyway, Paul made his big move today.  Paulie used the veto on himself and Paul nominated Da’Vonne for eviction.  I have yet to hear anyone mention whether or not Da’Vonne hit anyone with a hairflip after she was nominated.

And things look pretty bad for Da’Vonne but, honestly, things look bad for the girls in the house in general.  Apparently, Michelle was very upset over Da’Vonne being nominated and, as a result, Paul, Paulie, and Corey are now upset with her.  They’re even talking about getting rid of her next week.

Zakiyah was also upset over Da’Vonne being nominated.  Earlier tonight, Paulie told Paul and Corey that he was “finished” with Zakiyah.  He said that he would no longer allow Zakiyah to sleep in the same bed with him and that he would tell both Michelle and Zakiyah that, if they didn’t vote out Da’Vonne on Thursday, they would be targeted next week.

(Was Paulie being sincere or was he just telling Corey and Paul what they wanted to hear?  I imagine that it’s a little of both.  Paulie does want Da’Vonne out but I’d be surprised if he’s actually “finished” with Zaiyah.  In fact, they’re flirting in the hammock even as I type these words.  Zakiyah just said that she’s been thinking about what their children would look like.  Paulie yawned in response.)

Nicole, meanwhile, is totally in favor of getting rid of Da’Vonne but she told Paul that she’s going to continue to pretend to be close to Michelle and Zakiyah, just so there’s no drama.

As for Da’Vonne, she’s been reading the bible a lot today.  She’s not surrendering and she’s not going to stop campaigning but surely she now knows that the odds are stacked against her.  As JT pointed out in the comments under the previous post, Da’Vonne has two votes right now, Michelle and Zakiyah.  Paulie, Nicole, Corey, and Victor are voting to evict her.  James and Natalie are the two unknowns.  James will probably vote with the majority and Natalie will probably do whatever James does.  If Da’Vonne wants to get the votes of James and Natalie, she’s going to have to convince one other HG to switch his or her vote.

And it could happen but it probably won’t.  Then again, Da’Vonne could also have the return ticket!  The game is never over until it’s over.

I just hope Paul doesn’t have the return ticket.  Seriously, I can’t wait until King Paul is dethroned…

Til next time,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 18: Checking In With The Love Commune!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 1, 2016

Hi, everyone!

I hope everyone will excuse the lateness of this update.  I had to watch a movie earlier tonight for one of the other sites that I write for so I’m running a little behind.  Fortunately, nothing has really changed since we last checked in.  The plan is pretty much the same: Paulie is going to use the veto on himself and Da’Vonne is going to go up in his place.

Do Da’Vonne know she’s going to be nominated?  Well, Da’Vonne is almost always paranoid so there’s definitely a part of her that knows that it could happen.  But, for the most part, she seems to think that the plan is to backdoor Nicole.  Earlier today, she spent a lot of time talking to Paul about it.  Paul nodded and replied, “Yeah, yeah, I hear ya, um hum, yeah…” and so on.

Anyway, I’m watching Big Brother: After Dark right now and I have to say that I kind of feel like I’m watching life inside a cult compound.  Paulie is laying in the hammock with Zakiyah.  Zakiyah is grooming him, while holding the big wooden spoon.  (I so hate that big wooden spoon.  I hope somebody stuffs it down the garbage disposal before this season is over.)  Victor, Paul, Natalie, Nicole, Michelle, and Corey are all gathered around the hammock.  Paul is bragging on himself while Michelle is popping his back acne.  Natalie just dropped some grass in Paul’s hair but Paul was too busy bragging about himself to notice.

A few minutes ago, Victor was pretending to be a monkey.  He and Paulie were communicating through the use of animal noises.  It was annoying.

And, as I watched, it occurred to me that these are some of the most immature people that I’ve ever seen inside the Big Brother House.  I mean, I’m around the same age as most of these people and even I think that they’re incredibly immature!

Da’Vonne is going to be mad when she’s nominated tomorrow and when you see the people who are nominating her, can you blame her?  Whether you like Da’Vonne or not, she at least came to the house to play the game.  And now, she’s about to get backdoored and evicted by a bunch of immature boys and their showmances.

It really makes me hope that Da’Vonne has the return ticket.  I guess I just want to see the look on Paul’s face if, after being evicted, Da’Vonne immediately stepped back into the house.  Then again, I doubt if I’d be able to see much, considering that Paul still has not shaved off his beard.

And, by the way, I have to agree with something that Zakiyah said last night — where is James!?  Seriously, where does he vanish to?  Does he have magic powers?  Can he turn invisible at will?  Personally, I think it’s smart for James to lay low, especially after winning HoH and getting rid of Frank.  But I don’t know if James is actually pursuing a strategy or if he’s just taking it easy inside the house.  It’s so hard to know.

In short, I’m saying that these houseguests need to be shaken up by something more than just the eventual visit from Zingbot.  That’s why I’m hoping that Da’Vonne not only gets evicted but that she has the return ticket as well.  It would be fun to watch everyone have to scramble a little.

I’m keeping my hopes up as far as that’s concerned!

Anyway, the veto meeting is tomorrow.  If Paul suddenly changes his mind and puts up Nicole as the replacement, expect a lot of whining.  If Paul sticks with his plan and nominates Da’Vonne, expect some drama!

‘Til then,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 19: How Things Change…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 30, 2016

Hi, everyone!

Remember how, when this season started, we all thought that Big Brother 18 was going to be all about girl power?  There were two all-girl alliances in the house and the boys seemed pretty oblivious to both of them.  The Spy Girls were constantly chanting “Girl power!”  The Fatal Five were all swearing that they would stay loyal to each other until the end of the game.  Tiffany couldn’t stop talking about how this was the year that a girl was going to finally win.  Da’Vonne and Zakiyah swore to each other that they would be the final two.

And the first HGs to be evicted were all men: Glenn, Jozea, and self-styled alpha male Victor.  After Victor was evicted and Bridgette won HoH, a lot of us started to think that this could be the first Big Brother to feature an entirely female final eight.

Well, that all kind of fell apart, didn’t it?  Bridgette fell under the influence of Frank and let him run her HoH.  The rest of the houseguests rebelled and voted out Bridgette’s closest ally (and leading Girl Power proponent) Bronte.  Then Tiffany had her little breakdown and, as a result, she was voted out the next week.  And then Victor reentered the house.  Of course, last Thursday, Frank was voted out but, even more than the women in the house, it was the other men who wanted Frank gone.  And then Paul, another self-styled alpha male, won Head of Household.  And who has been running his HoH?  Paulie, basically.

It seems like a very long time since this season was going to be about girl power, doesn’t it?

What happened?  I think it was a combination of things.

First off, the Spy Girls were a weak alliance and they had no strategy beyond screaming and jumping up and down on the bed in the HoH room.  Bronte knew how to chant “girl power” but she didn’t know how to fight for it.

Meanwhile, the Fatal Five started out as much stronger than the Spy Girls but two of the main members — Zakiyah and Nicole — got distracted by their showmances and, as a result, neither one of them seems to remember that they’re in the house to play a game.  Michelle, meanwhile, has never been able to fit in socially with the rest of the houseguests.  (To a certain extent, she reminds me of Aubry from the previous season of Survivor.)  And, of course, Tiffany ended up getting voted out of the house.

So that leaves Da’Vonne.  Da’Vonne is the only member of the Fatal Five who is still trying to play the game but she’s playing the game so hard that she’s ended up alienating the house in almost the same way that Frank did.  Da’Vonne made a huge mistake when she told James that she was planning on targeting the showmances.

And so, Da’Vonne is now the target.  Earlier today, Paulie won the veto and he’s planning on using it.  Da’Vonne appears to believe that Nicole will be the replacement.  Instead, Paul is planning on nominating Da’Vonne.

As of right now, it appears that Da’Vonne is about to be voted to the jury on Thursday.  Unless, of course, she has the return ticket.  If they vote out Da’Vonne and then she opens her envelope and finds a return ticket, I can guarantee that you’ll some very frightened faces in the Big Brother house!

(Even more so if Da’Vonne manages to win HoH…)

So, we’ll see what happens.  But right now, it appears that the boys are in charge of the house and Da’Vonne will be sent to the jury on Thursday.

Big Brother 18 — The Best Laid Plans of Paul and men…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 29, 2016

Hi, everyone!

Now, I may turn out to be wrong about this but I think that this could actually be an interesting week in the house.  One thing that I’ve been wondering during the past few weeks is what the houseguests would do once Frank was finally voted out.  It’s been pretty obvious that the only thing that was really holding together most of the alliances was everyone’s mutual dislike of Frank.  He was everyone’s target and he was basically living rent-free inside everyone’s mind.  It seemed to me that most of the house was so obsessed with getting out Frank that they weren’t even thinking about what to do after he left.

Well, Frank is now gone.  He did not have the magic envelope.  A lot of people think that Nicole has the return ticket, because she picked the 8th envelope and there’s a theory that some of the clues in the house indicated that the 8th envelope was the one to pick.  Regardless of who has the envelope, they only have three more weeks to use their ticket.  The tickets expire on August 18th.

But the important thing is that, with Frank gone, it’s suddenly obvious how fragile most of the alliances are.  Despite all the showmances, it doesn’t really seem like there’s much loyalty in the house.  There don’t seem to be any true friendships, despite what Paul occasionally says.  And it really doesn’t seem like anyone in the house has a long term strategy.

Paul is HoH.  He made his nominations today and … well, let’s just say that Paul has disappointed me.  After briefly threatening to emerge as a compelling player, Paul has revealed himself to be just as much of a buffoon as he appeared to be at the start of the season.  He spends a lot of time bragging about himself and claiming to be an expert on how Big Brother is played but it’s all empty boasting.

Paul nominated Bridgette and Paulie for eviction but he claims that neither one of them is his actual target.  Instead, he’s planning on backdooring Da’Vonne.  (When last I checked, Da’Vonne seemed to be under the impression that the plan was to backdoor Nicole.)  What’s stupid is that, for all his bluster, Paul couldn’t just make his nominations.  Instead, he asked for a volunteer to go up with Bridgette.  For a long while, it looked like Nicole would be the other nominee but then Nicole spent all Thursday night whining and finally, Paulie agreed to take her place.

And really, that was a stupid move on Paulie’s part.  If he seriously wants to focus the house on getting rid of either Da’Vonne or Nicole, Paul never should have agreed to nominate Paulie.  There’s too many people in the house who view Paulie as  being a legitimate threat and it’s easy to imagine that they could easily decide that they’d rather keep Da’Vonne (or Nicole) and instead vote out Paulie.  Paulie’s given them the perfect chance to do so.

It wouldn’t surprise me if something like that happened.  Nobody in the house has any long-term strategy and Paul isn’t a particularly intimidating houseguest.  I doubt anyone is thinking, “We better keep Paul happy or he might come after us.”  Just about everyone in the house seems to realize that Paul is a joke, except for Paul.

Right now, the nominees are Bridgette and Paulie.  And the target appears to be Da’Vonne.  But I wouldn’t be surprised if things changed before the vote on Thursday.

Big Brother 18: What a long day it’s been!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 29, 2016

Hi, everyone!

Oh my God, what a long day it has been.  Between the stuff with the comments and everything else, I am exhausted!  Because I had to watch a movie for another one of the sites that I write for, I missed seeing the eviction episode of Big Brother when it aired live.  But, I have finally gotten a chance to sit down and watch it.

And you know what?

If you disliked Frank, as many people do, you probably enjoyed this episode.  Not only was he unanimously voted out of the house but it turned out that his envelope was empty.  Frank will not be returning the game.  He won’t even be on the jury.  That’s what happens when you manage to alienate everyone in the house except for Bridgette.

If you are a Frank fan, you can take some pleasure in the fact that he did not go silently.  He refused to beg for a chance to stay and his final speech to the houseguests let them all know just how little he thinks of most of them.  It was a bitter speech but at least it was more interesting than the usual: “No hard feelings, do whatever’s best for your game.”

As for Bridgette’s final plea — seriously, is Bridgette incapable of putting words together?

With Frank gone, the big question becomes who will now become the house’s main target.  Everyone’s been united by their mutual dislike of Frank.  Now that Frank’s gone, it’s time for people to start turning on each other.

Now, I have to give credit for the upcoming information to Margie and Star.  While I was busy watching that movie and taking care of some other stuff, they were keeping an eye on the live feeds and keeping us updated!

The new HoH is …. PAUL!

*groan*

You know, I was starting to like Paul.  But then he found the secret room and he just would not stop bragging about it.  Paul was temporarily humbled by being nominated three weeks in a row but, now that he’s feels safe, he’s turning back into the loudmouth jerk that he was when he first entered the house.  Someone in production obviously told him that it would be a good idea to continually call himself, “Your boy.”  They’re trying to make him into another Johnny Mac.

But no.

It’s not going to happen.

Johnny Mac may have been odd and he may have been loud but there was an underlying sweetness to him.  He seemed like he was having fun and not taking anything personally.  Johnny’s eccentricity seemed sincere.  Paul, meanwhile, is obviously putting on an act.

But Paul is safe this week and we’ll see if he shaves off his beard, like he promised to do.  As for who Paul is targeting, he appears to be going after Nicole.  And if he can’t get Nicole, he’ll probably go after Corey.  But, instead of just nominating them, Paul appears to be going for the backdoor route.  Apparently, he’ll be nominating Bridgette and a pawn.

*YAWN*

Seriously, backdoor nominations are so boring.

Finally, I know we’ve had some issues with the comments.  Let’s see how things go with this post.  If you post a comment and it doesn’t show up, please e-mail me at LisaMarieBowman@live.com and I’ll see if I can find it.  Or contact me on Facebook — https://www.facebook.com/lisa.m.bowman.399 or on twitter at https://www.twitter.com/LisaMarieBowman.  Sometimes wordpress has hiccups but we’ll get it fixed.

Thanks!
