Big Brother 18: Another Quick Update

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 16, 2016

Hi, just another quick update here.

You already know this if you’ve been reading the comments but let’s just make it official (and, of course, provide an update for our visitors who don’t regularly read the comments):

Tiffany won the roadkill and nominated Corey.

However, Corey won the veto today!  If Corey takes himself off the block, Tiffany will be responsible for picking a new nominee.  Even though Tiffany will be making her nominations in secret, she has basically told everyone in the house that she won the roadkill.

Corey has been saying that he might not use the veto on himself, which would be idiotic.  Apparently, however, Paul told him that it would be a good idea to use the veto on Natalie and Paul also told Corey that he’s not at any risk of going home.  For his part, Corey is worried that Nicole will be nominated in his place.

But he might be mistaken as far as Tiffany nominating Nicole is concerned.  Tiffany really dislikes Da’Vonne and has been talking about maybe nominating her.  As well, Tiffany is now working with Frank and Frank definitely wants Da’Vonne gone.

Ultimately, it might not make much difference who Tiffany nominates.  Only 8 people are voting this week and, as long as 4 houseguests vote to evict Tiffany, Paulie will be able to cast the tie-breaking vote and send Tiffany out of the house.

Anyway, we’ll see what happens!  I’ll be home tomorrow so I’ll be able to get caught up on all the drama in the house!

Big Brother 18: Just A Quick Check-In

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 15, 2016

Hi, everyone and greetings from Poteau, Oklahoma!

Since I’ve been on the road for most of today, that means that I’ve missed watching a lot of the drama in the house.  And apparently, it’s been a very dramatic day!  If you’ve followed the comments under the previous post, you already know all this but I’m just going to repost it here to make it “official.”

Earlier today, Paulie announced his nominations.  Nominated for eviction:

Tiffany

and

Natalie!

Tiffany is the target.  Almost everyone in the house went out of their way to save her on Thursday, just to have her lose HoH (which she repeatedly claimed that she would be able to win because of her “photographic” memory).  With both Frank and Bridgette safe this week because of their Category 4 membership, Paulie decided to just go ahead and get rid of Tiffany.

Tiffany did not take her nomination well.  She got mad, she yelled, she argued with people in the house.  She especially got mad at Da’Vonne and Zakiyah.  Tiffany felt that Da’Vonne has never tried to talk game to her.  Da’Vonne replied that she had spent all last week saving Tiffany from eviction.

“Yeah,” Tiffany said, “just as a way to say f**k you to Frank!”

Tiffany also went into a spiel about how she is playing the game with honor and loyalty.  She said that she is “playing the right way.”  While Tiffany was crying, both Da’Vonne and Zakiyah were laughing because neither one of them believe that Tiffany’s tears were real.

However, someone was there to comfort Tiffany and that person was Frank.  Perhaps finally realizing how precarious his position really is, Frank reached out to Tiffany and now, they are apparently best friends.  Tiffany has been telling Frank everything that everyone else in the house has been saying about him.

So, with Tiffany now betraying and attacking everyone who saved her and forming an alliance with the guy who was obsessed with targeting her last week, you have to wonder if Tiffany is an idiot or a genius.  Or just totally mentally unstable.

One thing is for sure: A lot of people are regretting their votes right now.

Anyway, the Roadkill Comp is going on right now.  If Frank wins, he has said that he might nominate Corey for eviction.  Frank thinks that he might be able to unite the house against Corey and Nicole.

Okay, gotta run!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Big Brother 18: A Few Thoughts On Tonight’s SHow

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 14, 2016

Hi everyone!

So, what did everyone think of tonight’s show?

My feelings are mixed.  On the one hand, I was happy to see that Big Brother finally lived up to the whole “expect the unexpected” tag line.  Up until very late yesterday, Tiffany was on her way up.  And then, as the result of one night of strategy, the entire house flipped!  By a vote of 5-4, Bronte was voted out and, since I can’t stand Bronte or the Spy Girls, I was extremely happy.

But then, the team twist kicked in.  In the hours leading up to tonight’s eviction, everyone agreed that Frank could not win HoH.  The HGs sat around and plotted how they would each throw the HoH and allow Tiffany to win.  And once Tiffany was HoH, she could make the entire house happy by nominating Frank.  Frank would be evicted and, since he had already let everyone know that he wanted Tiffany out, there would be no blood on anyone’s hands.

And they stayed up with Tiffany all night and they looked at the pictures hanging on the wall and they studied them and they tried to help Tiffany memorize every detail.  And Tiffay repeatedly told them that she has a photogenic memory.

And then, at the HoH comp, what happened?  Tiffany answered wrong and was eliminated fairly early.  And Frank nearly won HoH.  Fortunately, Paulie managed to pull out a victory but, since Paulie is a member of Category 4, that means that Frank and Bridgette now have immunity for the week.

BLEH!

With all that in mind, here’s a few more random thoughts about tonight’s show:

  1. I loved Tiffany’s speech.  Paul’s speech was a typical Paul speech and, if you like Paul, you probably enjoyed it.  Bronte’s speech just reminded me so much why I wanted Bronte out of the house.  Delivered with her typical fake shyness, Bronte announced that she wasn’t mean.  Well, we all know that isn’t true.  Bronte has literally spent this entire week in the HoH room bragging about how mean she is.
  2. For the record, here’s how the voting went: Frank, Natalie, James, and Paulie all voted for Tiffany.  Michelle, Nicole, Zakiyah, Corey, and Da’Vonne voted for Bronte.  Bronte got 5 votes.  Tiffany got 4.
  3. Apparently, the other HGs told Bronte that she was going to be voted out 20 minutes before the show started.  I’m not happy about that and I don’t understand why, every season, the HGs do this.  It’s not a true blindside if you’re given an advanced warning.
  4. I’m also not happy with how tonight’s show was edited.  Da’Vonne was given far too much credit for planning the blindside.  Da’Vonne really didn’t have much to do with it.  If anything, Michelle deserves most of the credit for keeping everyone together but you wouldn’t know that if you hadn’t ever watched the live feeds or Big Brother After Dark.

Now that Paulie is HoH, I’m not really sure who he’s going to nominate but I have a feeling that he might be planning on targeting Da’Vonne, who nobody in the house really seems to trust.  There’s also the possibility that he might nominate Tiffany, especially after she failed to win HoH.

For now, Paulie is HoH and, as members of Category 4, Frank, Michelle, and Bridgette have immunity.  If Frank’s smart, he’ll lay low for the week and maybe try to build some new alliances and smooth over some hurt feelings.  However, I don’t know if Frank has it in him.

Speaking of Frank, I’ll be in his home state of Oklahoma this weekend!  However, I will be checking in with what’s happening in the house whenever I can.

This upcoming week should be an interesting one!  (And remember, on July 22nd, we’ll find out who is reentering the house!)

Keep watching the feeds,

Lisa Marie

Well, it’s that time again!  For the third time this season, the Big Brother Blog Diary Room is now open!

Do you vote to evict…

BRONTE, the self-described secret nerd who doesn’t know what calculus is

or

PAUL, who says he’s “your boy”

or

Big Brother 18: Will Tiffany Survive?

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 12, 2016

Hi, everyone!

So, yesterday, I was totally convinced that Tiffany would be easily voted out on Thursday.  Even though the other houseguests (except for Frank) didn’t seem to be that enthusiastic about evicting Tiffany, I still assumed that they would go ahead and do it.  The best strategy in Big Brother is often to play it safe and voting out Tiffany is the safe option.  It keeps Frank from getting mad and it’s not like Tiffany really has any strong allies within the house.

And, as I sit here writing this, I still think that Tiffany will be voted out.  Even though almost everyone in the house hates Frank, he could still easily win HoH on Thursday night or someone else from Category 4 could win HoH and Frank would have immunity as a result.  As much as almost everyone in the house dislikes Frank, none of them want to get on his bad side until it’s absolutely necessary.  Say what you will about Frank, it’s a mistake to underestimate him as a player.  Frank may not have been HoH this week but he was able to persuade Bridgette to everything that he wanted.  He was even able to talk her into not using the veto to save one of her strongest allies in the house, Bronte.  Don’t underestimate the power of Frank.

But, at the same time, every one knows that the main reason Tiffany is on the block is because Frank dislikes her personally.   And by voting her out, they will not only be giving Frank what he wants but they’ll also be losing a potential future vote to evict him.

Of course, Tiffany hasn’t exactly helped herself this week.  When she was the first nominated, I complained about the fact that she got in bed and spent the entire day crying, instead of campaigning.  Well, now that Bridgette has declined to use the veto, Tiffany is out of bed and she is campaigning.  Unfortunately, Tiffany is a terrible campaigner.  Instead of telling people why she would be a good ally, she spends a lot more time trying to turn houseguests against each other.  Tiffany has a paranoid personality and her entire campaign to stay is built on the premise that everyone else is just as paranoid as she is.  Instead of concentrating on trying to convince people that they need to vote out Frank, Nicole, Corey, and a bunch of other houseguests who aren’t even nominated this week, Tiffany needs to give people a reason to keep her around.

If Tiffany does have anything going for her, it’s that nobody in the house really cares that much about either Paul or Bronte.  Nobody would really miss either one of them if they were voted out.  In fact, that’s one reason why this week has felt so weird.  There are three nominees and yet, because all three of them are either annoying or totally clueless, none of them are really viewed as a threat to win the game.  To a lot of the houseguests, it doesn’t matter who gets voted out this week.  They just want to vote out someone so that they can concentrate on getting rid of Frank.

And that’s why there’s a sliver of hope for Tiffany.  Nicole and Corey have both said that they’re willing to go against Frank’s wishes and keep Tiffany.  They were planning on targeting Bronte but then they talked to James, who said that he’d rather keep Bronte and get rid of Paul.  James told them that if they could get enough other houseguests to agree, he would be willing to go against Frank and vote out Paul.

Because there’s three nominees, it only takes 5 votes to evict someone.  If Nicole, Corey, and James voted to evict Paul, they would only have to convince two more houseguests to vote with them.  Unfortunately, finding those two houseguests is turning out to be more complicated than it should be.

Da’Vonne, for instance, said that she’d be willing to consider voting to evict either Bronte or Paul but only if she knows for sure that everyone else is going to keep their word and go after Frank next week.  Da’Vonne doesn’t trust anyone in the house.  Unfortunately, in order to make a big move, you occasionally have to be willing to trust other people.  Zakiyah was considering voting for Paul but then she talked to Paulie and Paulie told her that he doesn’t trust Tiffany.  Paulie thinks that Tiffany is more likely to come after him and Zakiyah than Bronte or Paul.

So, in short — is there a chance that Tiffany could stay?  Yes.  Nobody’s really happy about the way that Frank has run Bridgette’s HoH and keeping Tiffany would be a way to put Frank in his place.  However, Tiffany probably will be evicted because, sometimes, doing the easy thing is the best strategy.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 18: VETO RESULTS!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 11, 2016

Hi there!

This is a spoiler warning!  I know that most of our readers don’t care about spoilers but I also share these posts on Facebook so I’m rambling about the spoiler just to make sure that I don’t accidentally spoil it for anyone who happens to wander across this post on Facebook.  They always include a preview of the first paragraph on Facebook so I’m just trying to be considerate.  Blah blah blah spoiler warning…

Okay, now that’s done, here’s what happened at the Veto Ceremony earlier today…

Bridgette did NOT use the veto.  This the first week, since the game began, that the veto has not been used.  That means that the nominees remain Tiffany, Paul, and Bronte.  And, as of right now, it looks like Tiffany is going home.

That’s right — for all of her talk about how she wanted her HoH to be all about “girl power,” Bridgette ultimately decided to do exactly what Frank told her to do.  She didn’t even take her ally Bronte off of the block.

For all the talk about how the rest of the house hates Frank, they are going to give him what he wants.  As of right now, it looks like Tiffany could be voted out by a 9-0 vote.  Tiffany hasn’t helped herself by not campaigning, not making alliances, and not immediately admitting to being Vanessa’s sister.  Nobody trusts Tiffany and nobody takes Paul or Bronte serious so Tiffany is about to be voted out.

Last night, Frank and Bridgette were cuddling in the HoH room (and seriously — ewwwww!) and Frank told Bridgette that he won the roadkill nomination and that he nominated her during the first week.  Bridgette thanked him, saying it had made her a stronger player.

WHAT!?

Of course, Bridgette was drunk at the time.  Some people online are saying that Bridgette was faking being drunk and was instead trying to get information out of Frank but, if that’s true, why didn’t she do anything with the information that she received?  Why is she continuing to be Frank’s pawn?

On a positive side, the rest of the house was a lot of fun last night.  While Frank and Bridgette were up in the HoH room, everyone else was downstairs and throwing Zakiyah an impromptu birthday celebration.  Even Michelle finally showed some personality.

Anyway, that’s it for now!  In conclusion, Bridgette totally wasted her big opportunity to set herself up as a power in the house and it looks like Tiffany is going to be evicted but she will have a chance to come back and I still get the feeling that this will be the last week that Frank gets what he wants.

Big Brother 18: What A Weird, Weird Week

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 9, 2016

bb200

Hi y’all!

Well, this is certainly shaping up to be a strange week of Big Brother.

The strangeness starts with Bridgette.  Usually, when a formerly quiet houseguest suddenly and unexpectedly becomes head of household, it means that you’ll finally get a chance to discover who they actually are.  When Bridgette won, I thought we’d finally see some personality and some strategy from Bridgette.

Well, we are three days into Bridgette’s reign of power and all I’ve discovered is that she doesn’t have a personality.  Nor does she appear to have much of a strategy.  Before Bridgette won HoH, she spent most of her time hanging out with Bronte and Natalie and barely interacting with anyone in the house.  Then she won HoH and she’s still not really interacting with anyone other than Bronte, Natalie, and Frank.  She doesn’t seem to understand that Bronte and Natalie have no idea what’s going on in the house and that Frank is only looking out for himself.

(Somehow, she has yet to figure out that Frank not only nominated her during week one but also nominated Bronte during this week.)

Earlier today, Bridgette told Natalie and Bronte that they needed to be her “eyes in the house” and let her know what everyone was saying and I really had to laugh.  Natalie and Bronte are both clueless,  The Spy Girls are seriously lacking in intelligence.

And yet, Bridgette has all the power.  Not only is she HoH but earlier today, she won the veto competition!  She also sprained her ankle.  Apparently, Frank collided with her during the veto comp.  We’ll see the details on that next Wednesday.

So, Bridgette has all the power.  Natalie and Bronte are both convinced that Bridgette is a “competition queen.”  But here’s the thing: Bridgette is planning on doing NOTHING with all that power!  I cannot begin to follow her logic.  After making her nominations, she spent an entire night complaining that Frank had talked her into doing what was right for his game instead of her game.  She and Bronte got together and started yelling about how they were all about girl power and how, if they had the veto, they could take Tiffany down and replace her with Corey.

Okay, so now, Bridgette has the veto.  And she’s decided she’s going to keep the nominations the same.  She did consider using the veto on Bronte but — get this — Bronte apparently told her not to!  Because if Bronte comes off the block, that means that the roadkill winner will pick the new nominee.  And Bronte is worried that Nicole will be nominated and apparently, Bronte thinks that Natalie could be a future ally.

Could someone explain to Bronte that there’s no point in cultivating future allies if you’re no longer in the house?  Seriously, what type of idiot volunteers to stay on the block!?  If you have a chance to get off the block, you get off the block!

So, as of right now, it appears that Tiffany will be going home.  Tiffany knows it too and is still freaking out and having a pity party.  But, that could change.  Frank is the one who wants Tiffany out and nobody likes Frank.

Even though Frank is in charge this week, I still think his days are numbered.

But for now, he’s safe and Tiffany’s in trouble.

Big Brother 18: Where is Frank?

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 9, 2016

bb200

Hi, y’all!

As I sit here typing this at 12:14 a.m, Frank has apparently been in the Diary Room for over an hour.  The online speculation (and remember the HGs are not generally allowed to discuss either Diary Room visits or production on the live feeds) is that production is currently talking to Frank about some of his behavior in the house.

Right now, on social media, there’s a growing movement of fans who are demanding that Frank be expelled from the house.  Since this season started, Frank has made several sexist and misogynistic comments about the female houseguests.  After Thursday’s HoH competition, he smacked Zakiyah’s behind.  This is not the first time he’s done that and it’s something that he’s done to all the female houseguests.  It’s one of the main reasons why the two all-girl alliances cannot stand Frank.

Zakiyah was extremely upset, which led to Paulie trying to talk to Frank about it (and Frank replying that it didn’t mean anything, it was just the way he was raised) and Da’Vonne going into the Diary Room and formally complaining to production about it.

It’s strange to think that I initially thought Frank was more likable this season than he was during Big Brother 14.  Actually, he’s a hundred times worse.  He’s gotten so bad that I’m actually starting to wonder if maybe Mike Boogie was actually a good influence on him.

Anyway, I doubt Frank will be expelled from the house.  Though I will be curious to see if they’ll show his behavior on the CBS show.

As for what else happened in the house today … well, if you’ve been reading the comments, you probably already know.  But I’ll just make it official:

Bridgette, the HoH, did exactly what Frank wanted.  She nominated Paul and Tiffany for eviction.  Tiffany is the target and I have to admit that I’m surprised that they didn’t try to backdoor her.  At this point, Paul is used to being the pawn so he’s handling it pretty well.

Tiffany, of course, freaked out.  She went to bed and started crying.  And, to be honest, I’m tired of that.  Getting nominated is a part of the game that Tiffany signed up for.  If she’s not willing to get out there and campaign and fight to stay then she deserves to go just like Audrey deserved to go last season.  Tiffany has also been making a big deal out of telling everyone in the house that Vanessa is her sister.  I guess she’s trying to show that she’s honest but most of these newbie houseguests are recruits who barely know who Vanessa was.

Not only did Frank determine who Bridgette should nominate but he also won the roadkill competition.  He gave serious thought to nominating Da’Vonne but instead, he decided to go with Bronte.  Bronte will learn of her nomination tomorrow, before the veto competition.

(CORRECTION: Bronte apparently already knows that she’s been nominated but she thinks that Michelle did it.)

Right now, the Spy Girls are gathered in the HoH room and they’re talking about how they should do the opposite of what Frank wants and vote out Paul.  Bronte just told them all that she’s a mathematician in real life, which led to a lot of loud giggling and jumping up and down on the bed.  (They’re also passing around a big wooden spoon that Natalie claims has magic powers.)

(I get the feeling that Bronte is a mathematician in much the same way that Rachel Reilly was a chemist.)

Is it just me or are the Spy Girls perhaps the most annoying alliance in the history of Big Brother?  Bridgette and Bronte are talking about how this entire season is going to be all about “girl power.”  Okay, that’s great.  I’m all for that.  But if you’re the girl power alliance, then why are you letting Frank tell you what to do!?

At this point, the only thing that could make the Spy Girls more annoying would be if Liz and Julia Nolan suddenly entered the house and joined them.  And no matter how much the Spy Girls say that they’re going to go against Frank’s wishes, none of them are going to have the courage to actually do it.

In other words, Tiffany needs to win that POV if she wants to stay in the house.

Oh, Frank’s out of the Diary Room now.  He doesn’t appear to be too upset so who knows what happened in there.

Anyway, that’s it for now!

Lisa Marie

P.S. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and thoughts about my hometown of Dallas last night!  Y’all are the best!

Big Brother 18: All Apologies…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 8, 2016

bb18

Hi, everyone.

Please accept my apologies.  Because of the violence in my hometown of Dallas tonight, I missed out on a lot of what happened in the Big Brother House immediately after tonight’s live show.  I’ve spent the last hour or so getting caught up so please excuse the lateness of this post!

During tonight’s live show, as expected, Victor was voted out.  9 houseguests voted to evict him.  The only exception was Paul, who surprised me by voting for Bronte.  Why Paul would want to get rid of Bronte and not Tiffany, I can’t guess.  But what really struck me, as I watched the votes being cast, is that no one seemed particularly unhappy about voting Victor out.  After Victor left, everyone seemed both overjoyed and relieved.

Of course, what they don’t know is that Victor will have a chance to reenter the house.  And it’s easy to imagine Victor beating both Glenn and Jozea in any competition.

I have to admit that I had actually started to like Victor.  I was impressed by the fact that he actually campaigned for votes after he was nominated, instead of just accepting his fate or having a pity party.  Maybe it’s just because I disliked Tiffany and Bronte even more than him but Victor was actually starting to grow on me.

But no matter!  Victor is gone … for now!

Now, in a result that I don’t think any of us were expecting, Bridgette is the new HoH!  She managed to narrowly beat Paul for the honor.  I was really excited when I saw Bridgette win, just because I had no idea what Bridgette would do as head of household.  In a game that can often seem predictable, Bridgette winning HoH held the promise of the unexpected.

Her victory also changed a lot of plans in the house.  Frank has been so overbearing over the previous few days that he ended up getting on almost everyone’s nerves.  His decision to bring Paulie into the 8 Pack reminded everyone that Frank considers himself to be in charge.  Yesterday, Da’Vonne worked out an entire plan to backdoor him.  Though Frank may not realize it, almost everyone in the house is sick of him.

However, both Frank and Bridgette are members of  Category 4.  Bridgette winning HoH means that Frank, Paulie, and Michelle are all safe for the upcoming week.  None of them can be nominated.  None of them can be backdoored.

Briefly, I was worried that this might mean that James was in trouble but it turned out that Bridgette is almost as bad at reading the house as Paul, Jozea, and Victor.  Bridgette apparently believes that Frank still has a lot of power in the house and that she needs to get on his side.  So, Bridgette is pretty much going to do whatever Frank tells her to do.

And Frank wants her to nominate Paul and Tiffany for eviction.  Apparently, the only question is whether Tiffany will be nominated tomorrow or if she’ll be backdoored.  Frank is so obsessed with getting out Tiffany that it’s blinded him to the fact that the real threat to his game is coming from Da’Vonne.

And I don’t like Tiffany, so that shouldn’t bother me.  (Add to that, I doubt she could beat Victor for the chance to reenter the house.)  I don’t really care about Tiffany leaving but it does disappoint me to see that Bridgette, with all of her new power, is willing to just be Frank’s puppet.

I think Frank’s days in the house are numbered.  But, for this upcoming week, he is safe.
