Big Brother 24 — Scheduling News

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 19, 2022

Hi everyone!  The big Big Brother news today is not about what’s happening inside the house but, instead, what’s happening outside of it.

Eviction episodes usually air on Thursday.  This week, Thursday is going to be taken over a live primetime congressional hearing.  Originally, it was announced that the eviction episode would instead air on Friday.  Today it was announced the eviction episode will actually air on Sunday, as a part of a two-hour special episode.  (I assume the first hour will be eviction and the 2nd will be the selection of the new HoH and the nomination ceremony.)

So, as of right now, Big Brother will be airing on Wednesday, as it usually does.  However, after that, it will not air on Thursday or Friday.

Here’s what’s bad about this.  The feeds always go down before the eviction and they don’t come back up until after the eviction has been aired on the West Coast.  That means that we will not have live feeds from Thursday evening to basically the end of Sunday.  So, we will all be in the dark.

Bleh.

As for what’s happening the House, Monte has figured out that Pooch may be in trouble and he’s trying to rally all of the men to vote to keep him.  Joseph seems likely to vote to keep Pooch.  Terrene also seems like he might be possibility.  However, Michael has told Ameerah that he definitely plans to vote to evict Pooch and Kyle is leaning that way as well.  So, even though Pooch suddenly seem to be pretty confident about his chances of staying, it looks like Pooch will be evicted.

Eventually, we’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 24 — Week 2 Veto Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 18, 2022

Hi, everyone!  Just a quick update, because the second veto meeting of the season was held today.

Taylor and Pooch are on the block.  Jasmine in the HoH.  Pooch is the target.  Michael won HoH and had the option of vetoing one of Jasmine’s nominations.  And though Michael did appear to give some thought to using the veto on Taylor, he ultimately decided to play it safe.  Michael did not use the veto and the nominations remain the same.

The other big news is that Thursday’s eviction show has been preempted.  Due to the primetime Congressional hearings, the eviction show will now air on Friday.  I don’t know if it will be a live eviction or if the eviction will take place on Thursday and just not air until Friday.  (If Pooch does have an extra day to campaign, he better take advantage of it.)  If the eviction is on Thursday but not aired until Friday, that will basically mean that the feeds will be down for two days straight!  Grrrrrr.  Not happy about that.

Big Brother 24 — Let’s Never Do That Again

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 17, 2022

If you watched tonight’s episode, you got to see the pie-eating comp that led to Jasmine becoming the HoH.  At first, I assumed that they did the pie eating contest because of Jasmine’s injury but, after tonight’s episode, I think it was probably just a coincidence that Jasmine injured herself and then got a non-physical HoH comp.  Seriously, those were some big pies and watching everyone eat them …. well, let’s never do that again!

Also, after this week, no other houseguest should be dumb or cocky enough to volunteer to go on the block.  I think Pooch has finally figured out that he’s in trouble.  Not only didn’t he win the veto but Michael, who did win it, is probably not going to use it.  I think Pooch has figured out that there’s a good chance that he’s going to be voted out on Thursday.  Every time I see Pooch on the feeds, he’s talking about how how he’s prepared for whatever happens so Pooch has either figured out that he’s being targeted or he’s just putting on a good show to try to keep Taylor from campaigning to stay.

Why did Pooch volunteer to go on the block?  I think, with Pooch, it all comes down to the fact that he’s a coach.  As a coach, he’s used to coming up with various strategies but he’s also used to his players doing what he says.  As such, volunteering to be a pawn probably made sense to Pooch because, in his mind, everyone would stick to the plan.  He didn’t consider that the other players all have plans of their own.  As a coach, Pooch is also used to being in charge and I don’t think he realized how much his forthright manner rubbed people the wrong way.  To be honest, I imagine Pooch is probably a very good coach but he’s not necessarily a great Big Brother player.

Well, we’ll see what happens.  There’s still a lot of time left before Thursday.  The veto meeting is tomorrow!

Big Brother 24 — Week 2 Veto Competition

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 16, 2022

Going into the veto, this was the situation in the House:

Jasmine is HoH.  She has nominated Taylor and Pooch for eviction.  Pooch volunteered to go up as a pawn but what he doesn’t realize is that a lot of people in the House want to vote him out.  Jasmine would rather get rid of Taylor but she seems to have accepted that the House wants Pooch.  As Ameerah put it when talking to Jasmine, they can get rid of Taylor anytime but they might not get another shot at Pooch.  As far as Pooch knows, Taylor is the target.  We’ll see how long it takes Pooch to figure out that he’s being targeted.

Today, the 2nd veto comp of the season was played and, for the second time in a row, Michael won the veto!  Earlier, Michael was saying that he would consider taking Taylor off the block but he now seems to be planning on keeping the noms the same.  Ameerah has assured him that Pooch is the target and Michael doesn’t want to get on anyone’s bad side.

So, right now, Michael has the veto and he’s probably not going to use it.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 24 — Week Two Nominations

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 15, 2022

I was asleep last night when the feeds came back on so I missed the initial reaction of the BB fandom when they learned that the new HoH was….

JASMINE!

That’s right, Jasmine!  Jasmine, who we all know touched the ground during the first part of the comp and therefore should have been disqualified, went on to win the 2nd part of the HoH comp.  Apparently, it was a pie eating contest.  She ate the most pie.

Jasmine also rolled her ankle during the first part of the comp so she’s now on crutches and doing the whole Christmas Abbott thing.  Taylor has been looking after Jasmine, bring her ice packs and helping her wrap her ankle.  Jasmine, however, still hates Taylor and want to get her out this week.

Complicating things is that Pooch, for some reason, decided this week would be the perfect week to prove his loyalty by volunteering to go up on the block as a pawn.  Instead of approaching Jasmine, he went to every other member of the House and told them that he wanted to be a pawn.  This kind of left jasmine with no choice but to use Pooch as the pawn.  The problem, for Pooch, is that there are a lot of people in the House who don’t like Pooch.  They don’t feel that he can be trusted.  They think he talks too much.  The Girl’s Girls alliance wants to get a guy out of the House.  Since Paloma was the main person who was telling everyone that Taylor had to go and Paloma’s gone, Pooch may have picked the wrong week to volunteer to be a pawn.

At the nominations ceremony, Jasmine nominated Taylor and Pooch for eviction.  Jasmine wants Taylor gone and, since she’s the HoH, I imagine that there will be a lot of people in the House who will vote however Jasmine wants because that’s the way Big Brother is nowadays.  But Pooch is just obnoxious enough that there might be an upset this week.

The veto is tomorrow!

Big Brother 24 — About Tonight

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 14, 2022

Well, that was chaotic.

Tonight was supposed to be the first live eviction episode of Big Brother 24.  However, after three days straight of not sleeping and talking about how she felt like she was living in a simulation, Paloma self-evicted.  Because the feeds have been down since last night, we didn’t get to see everything that led up to Paloma leaving but here’s the rumor that I’m seeing online:

Last night, Paloma was called to the Diary Room for a psychological evaluation.  The show’s psychological staff told Paloma that she needed to leave the show for her mental health.  The show’s producers, however, tried to convince Paloma to stay because they didn’t want to have to rethink their big Backstage Twist.  Paloma decided that her mental health was more important and she self-evicted.

As Julie Chen Moonves put it during the live show, this changed everything.

Originally, the plan was for the Housguests to vote for either Taylor or Terrence to be evicted.  (It would have been Taylor and the vote probably would have been unanimous.)  Then Pooch, as Backstage Boss, would have to choose between Alyssa and Paloma and whoever he picked would then have to do a backyard competition with Taylor.  Whoever won the comp would get to stay in the house.  (America voted to give Brittany safety.)  After that, Julie would have announced another new twist, which is rumored to involve forcing the houseguests to play in pairs.

Instead, since Paloma left, the backstage twist ended with her.  And the vote was canceled so neither Taylor nor Terrence was evicted.  (Daniel basically nominated and alienated three people for nothing.)  The debut of the other new twist was moved back to next Thursday.  The Battle Back competition became the first part of the HoH comp.

In the first part of the HoH comp, two players faced off at a time and raced through an obstacle course.  The first person who made it to the end without putting their foot on the ground and who hit the buzzer moved on to the second part of the comp.  It went something like this:

Michael defeated Pooch.

Taylor defeated Alyssa.

Joseph defeated Indy.

Ameerah defeated Brittany.

Jasmine “defeated” Terrence.  Here’s the thing with that race — I’m pretty sure that Jasmine touched the ground.  At one point, she slipped and it appeared that her foot touched the ground and that she should have sent her back to the beginning of the course.  But Julie didn’t say anything and Jasmine kept going to the finish line.  After Jasmine rang the buzzer, she dramatically collapsed to the ground.  Maybe she pulled a Christmas and sprained her ankle, I don’t know.  Regardless, Jasmine advanced.

Kyle defeated Turner.

Monte defeated Nicole.

The feeds are still down and I imagine they will be for the rest of the night.  Presumably, when they come back, the new HoH will be either Michael, Taylor, Joseph, Ameerah, Jasmine, Kyle, or Monte.  Though Paloma is gone, I still think Taylor’s going to remain the House’s target unless she wins this HoH.

We’ll see what happens!

Let’s see, where’s that diary room key?

Hi, everyone!  Well, it’s almost time!  Tomorrow, the first houseguest will be evicted from the house!  Right now, Taylor and Terrence are nominated but there’s a chance that the twist could put either Paloma or Alyssa in danger of being evicted as well!

So, now is when we ask you — who do you want to see evicted?

Who do you vote to evict?

Do you vote for:

TAYLOR, the pageant contestant

TERRANCE, the bus driver

ALYSSA, who thinks Newark is a country

or

PALOMA, who thinks we might be in a dream?

Cast your vote below or in the poll over on the right side of the page!  And then be sure to watch tomorrow to see what happens!

Happy voting!

Big Brother 24 — Is Big Brother A Simulation

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 12, 2022

Are we living in reality?

That’s the question that Paloma has been asking today, to just about anyone who will listen to her.  As far as I can tell, it started with Paloma asking Michael if he felt as if maybe they were all in a lucid dream or a simulation, as opposed to reality.  Paloma explained that she’s been feeling as if she’s been in a dream ever since she entered the House.  Paloma went on to start suggesting that people do things to prove that they are living reality and that the house actually exists.  She suggested that each of the Have-Nots eat a piece of bread.  (Which would have led to all of them receiving a penalty nomination.)  She also suggested that everyone in the House should put on their finale dresses and self-evict, in order to prove that the House is real.  When last I checked, Paloma had been called to the Diary Room, where I’m sure someone is asking her what and how she’s doing.  The other houseguests have been laughing off Paloma’s behavior.

There are two possible things happening right now:

  1. Paloma is having an episode of some sort, which is the popular theory online.
  2. Paloma got bored and decided to say something weird to see how people would react.

Personally, I think the 2nd possibility is the most likely.  I think Paloma, knowing that she’s currently in control of the House, decided to say something strange and, when people laughed and played along with her, she just decided to keep the joke going.  But, that being said, you never really know what’s going on in someone’s head.

Otherwise, there hasn’t really been much game talk today, beyond everyone shunning Taylor and agreeing that she’s going to be voted out on Thursday.  Daniel has been pushing very hard for a unanimous vote and everyone seems to be prepared to give him one.  Joseph has even said that he will consider it to be a personal betrayal if Taylor just gets one vote.  Joseph isn’t the HoH so why he should care, I’m not sure.  But Joseph thinks that if one person votes for Taylor, that’ll be proof that they can’t be trusted and, if Joseph wins HoH, he will apparently make it his number one priority to track that person down and get them out of the House.

However, there is still a twist coming up.  Alyssa, Paloma, and Brittany are all backstage and, according to the hints that have been tossed out by the show, at least one of them could end up on the block on Thursday.  Brittany seems to be aware of this and she’s been talking to people, trying to make sure that they won’t vote for her if she doesn’t end up on the block.  Paloma and Alyssa, on the other hand, do not seem to remember that there’s a twist coming up.

We’ll see what happens!  Right now, it’s pretty much the House vs. Taylor and, if Taylor leaves, all those big alliances are going to start to turn on each other.

As I hit post on this, Paloma is still in the Diary Room.  I would be shocked if she was pulled from the game.  If she is, it’ll be a whole new season.

Big Brother 24 — Week 1 Veto Meeting

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 11, 2022

Hi, everyone!

Just a quick update.  The very first veto meeting of the season was held earlier today and, to no one’s surprise, Michael used the veto on himself.  Daniel then put Taylor up on the block.  No surprises.

Two things of note:

First off, Daniel has been calling everyone to the HoH room and letting them know that it’s very important that the vote be — sigh — unanimous.  It’s not just enough to backdoor Taylor.  No, everyone in the House has to vote for her.  Daniel’s framing it as being about respecting his time as HoH.  Apparently, Daniel is one of those players who thinks that the HoH is in charge of the entire house as opposed to just the person who makes nominations.

Secondly, Paloma is apparently convinced that she’s actually encouraging everyone to be positive and happy in the House.  Last night, she told Daniel that she was sure that everyone watching hates her because she’s so positive and she doesn’t tear people down.  Seriously, I don’t know what planet Paloma is living on, as she’s been one of the most negative people in the House since this season began.  Even with Taylor now on the block and all but sure to be evicted, Paloma is still complaining about Taylor having been in a pageant.

Anyway, Paloma keeps telling everyone that, when she wins the money, she’ll take them all on a vacation to Greece because, according to her, “we’re all family now.”  We’ll see how long that lasts.

Big Brother 24 — I Hate Bullies

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 10, 2022

I hate bullies.  I know that I’m not alone in that.

One of the unfortunate things about Big Brother is that it brings out the bullying aspects in some people.  Every season, there’s at least one bully.  Sometimes, they get voted out early.  Sometimes, like Paul, they dominate the season but then they lose when they face a jury of the people that they’ve mistreated.  And, sometimes, they win the game.

Paloma is a bully.  Really, almost the entire girl’s alliance is made up of bullies.  Not all of them are as mean as Paloma but, at the same time, none of them have been willing to step up and suggest that maybe there’s something weird about just how obsessed Paloma, Jasmin, and Alyssa are with tearing Taylor down.  As you saw on tonight’s episode, Paloma formed the all girl’s alliance specifically so they could force a girl out of the house.  Personally, I think it’s stupid to form any alliances on the first night but seriously, how do you start an all-girls alliance and then target a girl?

Despite Paloma’s best efforts, Daniel did not nominate Taylor for eviction.  He nominated Michael and Terrence.  However, Michael won the veto and will be taking himself off the block.  Originally, Daniel was leaning towards using Indy as a replacement.  But, earlier today, Monte told Paloma that Taylor had mentioned that Paloma wanted to get a guy out of the house this week, presumably him.  Technically, Taylor was telling the truth.  At the start of the week, Paloma did say that she wanted to get one of the guys out of the house.  However, Paloma is now telling people that Taylor is lying and Taylor can’t be trusted.

Daniel, meanwhile, is having one-on-one’s with people in the HoH room.  He’s been asking them who they want him to put up and he’s basically been saying that he’s either going to nominate Taylor or Indy.  Everyone is replying that they’d rather he nominate Taylor but, of course, Daniel is only giving them two options to choose from.  Pooch, meanwhile, is convinced that Taylor is going to throw a fit when she’s nominated and that they need to get her out earlier than later.  (As far as I can tell, nothing about Taylor’s demeanor suggests that she would blow up the house if nominated.)  But Pooch has been telling Daniel that, if he nominates Taylor, all of the guys will cover for him and say that they talked him into it.  So, that gives Daniel even more of an incentive to nominate Taylor instead of Indy.

Anyway, the long and the short if it is that Taylor is now pretty much isolated in the House and she’s probably going to go up on the block as the new target.  She knows it, too.  She overhead Alyssa and Paloma laughing about how she was going to be voted out this week.  (As I said, earlier, Paloma and Alyssa are just mean.)  However, there is also a twist coming up!

Now, originally, I misheard.  I thought that the three backstage girls were safe from being the initial nominees but they could go up as replacements.  But, as Taylor pointed out on tonight’s show, Julie said something far more intriguing.  The three girls cannot be nominated or used as a replacement but they can still go home.  Right now, viewers are being encouraged to vote for one of the three girls.  According to what was said tonight, one of the girls will be safe and the other will be in danger of going home.  So, I’m thinking that the girl who gets the most votes will be told that she got the most votes and is sfe and the girl who came in third will join Terrence and probably Taylor on the block.  Considering how unpopular Paloma is with a lot of fans, that would seem to indicate that there’s a good chance that Paloma could go on the block on eviction night.  That said, I don’t see the House voting out anyone other than Taylor at this point.

Or, perhaps more intriguingly, maybe the two girls who got the least amount of votes would then have to compete with the person evicted and whoever won the competition would be allowed to stay in the house, while the other two left.  If that happened and it was Taylor vs. Paloma vs. Alyssa, Taylor seems like she would have a fairly good chance of winning.

We’ll find out soon enough!

Lisa Marie
